Minecraft Dungeons has reached over 10 million players since releasing in May 2020. The news comes just a couple of weeks before Minecraft Dungeons' latest DLC, Flames of the Nether, releases on February 24.

Mojang included some extra details about what these millions of players have been up to. They've defeated the Arch-Illager more than 5 million times and the Redstone Monstrosity more than 7 million times, with over 100 million multiplayer sessions logged so far.

As a celebration, Mojang announced a new cape and a new pet will be added to existing players' inventories as free DLC on February 24.

Ancient Hunts, another free update, goes live February 24 with new endgame challenges against Ancient mobs that reward players with top-tier Gilded equipment should they vanquish these mobs.

That's also the day Minecraft Dungeons Flames of the Nether becomes available. It won't be free — Mojang hasn't announced a price yet — but it adds six new missions, a twist on existing biomes, and plenty of new gear and artifacts.

All three updates will be available across each platform at the same time.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker Halloween: Haunted Frontier

\n

Hardspace: Shipbreaker's Halloween event is Haunted Frontier, full of spooky haunted ships that put your bravery — and desire for salvage — to the test.

\n

The update, which is live now on Steam, turns any ship into a potential ghost ship. Things start deteriorating as you gather materials and fend off rogue AI nodes. Lights flicker on and off. Air gets sucked out of the room. And somewhere deep in the ship, unsettling sounds can be heard...

\n

Should you make it out alive, you can show off your hard-earned rewards with new stickers and badges.

No Man's Sky Halloween Update

\n

Head back to the outer reaches of the galaxy to find some new loot in the No Man's Sky Halloween update. Brave explorers can scour Desolation's wrecked vessels again to find a new item, Tainted Metal, and have a chance to snag some Quicksilver. But it comes at a cost. The freighters are full of new treats and a security system gone haywire.

\n

PUBG Mobile Infection Mode

\n

PUBG Mobile's Infection Mode is back from the dead from now until November 9, with new content, themes, costumes, and plenty of zombies.

\n

Infection Mode's classic combat returns, pitting a team of Defenders against a team of Zombies in an all-or-nothing fight. Zombies — sporting Halloween masks, if you so choose —  can only use melee attacks, but fallen Defenders transform into Zombies with chances for form shifts and stat buffs.

\n

If it all gets too much for the Defenders, they transform into Vanquishers when their team is down to three members. Foes they vanquish can't be resurrected.

\n

These hellish fights unfold across maps decked out with pumpkins, gravestones, and other seasonal paraphernalia. More costumes and decorations are planned before the end of the event.

Pokemon GO Halloween 2020

\n

Pokemon GO Halloween 2020 runs from October 23 at 9 p.m. EST through November 3 at the same time and offers the first chance to get your hands on Galarian Yamask among other things.

Ghost-type Pokemon will be more common in the wild, in Raids, and in Eggs. You might even find a costumed Gengar in Raids or hatch a Sableye in costume if you're lucky.

\n

Using the Whistle kicks off a two-hour period of bonus XP, but there's a lot more.

\n

Players can earn new mementos, furnishings, and Dremora and Hollowjack-themed items through Plunder Skulls earned in battle.

\n

Bosses drop Dremora Plunder Skulls with extra goods, including treasure maps and pages for the Grave Digger weapon style.

\n

There's the final evolution of the Indrik, a costume gala, grab bags, deals, and more. Check out the full details on the ESO event site.

Overcooked! 2  Moon Harvest Festival

\n

Overcooked! 2's Halloween celebration isn't technically Halloween-themed. It's in honor of harvest and autumn celebrations throughout eastern Asia, but it's fall-ish, so it works.

\n

Better yet, it's a free update with no end time, and the content will appear in Overcooked! All You Can Eat for next-gen consoles.

\n

Overcooked! 2's Moon Harvest Festival introduces new kitchens themed around water and lily pad obstacles. There are five new levels total, plus three succulent-looking mooncakes to add to the menu.

Borderlands 3 Halloween — Bloody Harvest Returns

\n

Borderlands 3's Bloody Harvest Halloween event is back for October 2020. The ghoulish festivities run through November 5, and it's easier than ever to get your hands on some sweet, ghastly gear.

\n

To kick things off, head to Sanctuary III, and speak with Maurice. Maurice tasks you with collecting Hecktoplasm from haunted enemies, easily spotted by their ghostly green glow.

\n

Defeating haunted enemies spawns specters you'll need to defeat as well, and that's when you finally get ahold of Hecktoplasm.

\n

After collecting enough of Hecktoplasm, Maurice opens the gate to Heck, where you can chat with Captain Haunt to access a number of quests, through which you'll earn Bloody Harvest items and cosmetics.

\n

This year, the Bloody Harvest quests are less demanding than before, making it easier to get loot.

\n
    \n
  • 4 challenges completed  “A Shrinking Feeling" weapon trinket
  • \n
  • 8 challenges completed  "Message from Beyond" ECHO Device skin
  • \n
  • 12 challenges completed  "Haunted Look" shared Vault Hunter skin
  • \n
  • 15 challenges completed  "Porphyrophobia" weapon skin

Destiny 2: Festival of the Lost 2020

\n

Destiny 2 brings back the Festival of the Lost and the Haunted Forest for 2020, with new weapons, triumphs, armor sets, and cosmetics for Exotics to celebrate the spookiest season of the year. Festival of the Lost 2020 is free for all Destiny 2 players and runs from October 6 through November 3.

\n
\n\n
\n

Festival of the Lost 2020 adds new perk rolls for the Braytech Werewolf and Horror Story, plus new sets for a few classes:

\n
    \n
  • Hunter — Lycanthrope Set
  • \n
  • Warlock — Daywalker (vampire) Set
  • \n
  • Titan — Promethean Set
  • \n
\n

On the official Festival of the Lost blog post, Bungie provided more information on the Halloween event. The Spider is a new NPC that gives players Cipher Decoders that unlock special chests at the end of The Haunted Forest. The chests are worth pursuing because they contain Legendary items specific to the Festival of the Lost.

\n

Rounding things out, there are new Sparrow skins available, as well as festival masks and vanity items for various armor sets, including broomsticks and witch hats.

Resident Evil Resistance October Update

\n

Resident Evil Resistance has a big October update in store, which is basically a Halloween update without actually being called a Halloween update.

\n

Jill Valentine joins the ranks of the Survivors, with powerful weapons and her characteristic dodge mechanic from Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake. And as is only fitting, Nemesis itself is a playable Mastermind for the first time. Players control Nemesis through playing as Nicholai, another new Mastermind.

\n

The Prison is a new map added in RE Resistance's October update, and the Uptown Raccoon City and Bemusement Park maps get a remix with new layouts.

\n

Finally is a slew of new costumes and weapon skins, Survivors' perks and customizable abilities, and Mastermind traps.

Grounded October Update

\n

Grounded’s October update adds ziplines and more to the survival game, including some Halloween-themed items. The initial announcement is relatively light on details, but players can expect decorations, recreational items, and doodads to use with friends. These include harvestable Candy Corn and a new landmark in the Frankenline, which is described as "a creepy discarded Etch-a-Sketch you can actually draw on."

\n

Aside from washing The Backyard in a spooky glow, the October update for Grounded does a lot on the backend as well, including fixing a handful of bugs, fine-tuning combat, and unlocking new perks. You can see the full patch notes here

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath  All Hallows' Eve

\n

Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath is getting some Halloween goodness with the All Hallows’ Eve character skin pack. It’s available now and is free for Aftermath owners. Those who haven’t upgraded to Aftermath yet would need to purchase the expansion, which also unlocks the Summer Heat and Femme Fatale packs from earlier in 2020.

\n

Mortal Kombat 11’s All Hallows’ Eve skin pack trailer highlighted three of the included skins. One is the “Blizzard King” outfit for Sub-Zero, and then there’s the part-werewolf part-school spirit “Beast Within” skin for Johnny Cage. Then there’ “Bad Medicine” for D’Vorah, turning the Kytinn fighter into a spidery nurse from hell.

\n

It’s not certain if Warner Bros. is adding anything else to Mortal Kombat 11’s Halloween event, but we’ll update if something new turns up.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Halloween

\n

The Halloween fun isn’t limited to New Horizons, as Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp celebrates spooky season in its own way. The 2020 Pocket Camp Halloween event features a number of special activities with ghoulish treats on offer for those who complete certain goals.

\n

Jack comes around and demands sweet treats. Hand over bat-themed lollipops to get bat furniture as a reward, and plant pumpkins during the month’s Garden Event to nab hatbats. Jack offers exclusive items such as mystical pumpkins in return.

\n

Taking part in the October Fishing Tourney nets some goodies as well, with potion-themed furniture on offer every time players reach a size goal with the fish they catch.

\n

Then there’s a fright night gyroidite scavenger hunt, new Happy Home classes and challenges, wall and carpet sets, special cookie items and more. The Pocket Camp Halloween and October events are live now.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Halloween

\n

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Halloween update is available to download for free now, and it’s bringing more than just the Czar of Halloween to the island.

\n

Animal Crossing patch 1.5 paves the way for Halloween by adding Candy as an item players can purchase from the Nooklings’ store and pumpkins as growable DIY fodder.

\n

The patch 1.5 trailer shows players planting, watering, and harvesting at least four different pumpkin varieties and then using them in various Halloween-themed DIY recipes.

\n

On Halloween night (October 31), Jack himself visits the island. It’s not clear yet what he requires of the player, but all the residents will be lurking about, asking for Candy and showing off their costumes.

\n

The patch adds new skin tone options for players to look their creepy best as well. We’ll update with more information about what New Horizons Halloween brings to the table as it becomes available.

Monster Hunter: World Iceborne — Fun Fright Fest

\n

Capcom’s brewing up a special Monster Hunter: World Iceborne Halloween event called the Fun Fright Fest, part of the hefty Title Update 5. It runs from October 15 at 8 p.m. EST through November 5 at the same time and is exclusive to the expansion.

\n

The Autumn Harvest Fest is returning to the base Monster Hunter: World game, but Capcom hasn’t said much about it yet.

\n

Fun Fright Fest (starting at 7:06 in the above trailer) sees the Seliana Gathering Hub decked out with spooky furnishings, and the handler dons a Cute Demoness outfit to celebrate the occasion. There are two special ticket types to collect during the event and trade in for loot: the Fun Fright Ticket and the VIP Fun Fright Ticket.

\n

The former get doled out as daily login bonuses for the MHW Halloween event and can be used to craft armor with Decoration slots. Players can exchange the latter for in-game decorations and Layered Armor, but these are only available as random item drops. Both ticket types can be exchanged for Melding Tickets too.

\n

There’s at least one new set of armor coming to the Fun Fright Fest, Demon Lord Alpha+. Wearing pieces of this armor set increases the chance of getting VIP Fun Fright Tickets.

\n

Capcom may reveal more about Monster Hunter: World Iceborne’s Fun Fright Fest as the start date approaches, and we’ll update if that happens.

Killing Floor 2: Infernal Insurrection

\n

It wouldn’t be Halloween without Killing Floor 2’s annual Halloween celebrations, and 2020 is no different. This year’s Halloween event is Killing Floor 2: Infernal Insurrection, and it brings treats galore, including new weapons, maps, and cosmetics.

\n

Infernal Insurrection’s new map is Hallmark Station, a twisted take on London’s famous King’s Cross Station. Hallmark Station has been overrun by zeds, of course, and players must team up with fellow mercenaries to take down the demonic threat. Hellmark Station includes Survival, Endless, and Weekly modes.

\n

Two new HRG weapons make their debut in Killing Floor 2’s Halloween event.

\n
    \n
  • HRG Scorcher (Firebug class bonus) — a flare gun that marks targets by setting them on fire
  • \n
  • HRG Arc Generator (Survivalist class bonus) — fires EMP blasts in short bursts or powerful charges
  • \n
\n

From now until November 10, Killing Floor 2 is also introducing a number of Halloween events, objectives, bonuses, and cosmetics.

There's Snowplace Like Minecraft Dungeons' Creeping Winter DLC https://www.gameskinny.com/uirh5/theres-snowplace-like-minecraft-dungeons-creeping-winter-dlc https://www.gameskinny.com/uirh5/theres-snowplace-like-minecraft-dungeons-creeping-winter-dlc Tue, 11 Aug 2020 15:57:17 -0400 Josh Broadwell

The first round of Minecraft Dungeons DLC dropped in July with the promise of more on the way. Mojang made good on that promise in a recent update announcing that the Minecraft Dungeons Creeping Winter DLC will release September 8 — alongside a couple of other big updates.

The second round of Minecraft Dungeons DLC is pretty much what you'd expect from a name like Creeping Winter.

A massive winter storm spreads over the world of Minecraft Dungeons, bringing with it deadly frost, new mobs, and, of course, hordes of new gear and artifacts to get your hands on. It's all wrapped up in a series of new missions you'll take on to try and stop the deadly frost from snuffing out life as we know it.

A free update for Minecraft Dungeons is also releasing on September 8, introducing Daily Trials and fun with merchants. You'll periodically encounter merchants in need of rescuing as you go about your usual adventuring. And if you're nice enough to actually rescue them, they'll move to your camp and open up shop.

Daily Trials are challenges what they sound like: challenges that alter normal gameplay rules and test your skills. The two merchants are the Gift Wrapper and the Blacksmith. The former will let you send items to other players, while the latter will fix up your weapons and make them stronger.

Finally, a physical edition for fun-but-sparse Diablo-lite is launching for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 8. That's a lot of Minecraft Dungeons.

Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Minecraft Dungeons news as it builds up.

Fallout 76, Soul Calibur 6 Lead Xbox Game Pass for July https://www.gameskinny.com/elf5o/fallout-76-soul-calibur-6-lead-xbox-game-pass-for-july https://www.gameskinny.com/elf5o/fallout-76-soul-calibur-6-lead-xbox-game-pass-for-july Wed, 01 Jul 2020 18:20:02 -0400 GS_Staff

Microsoft has unveiled the games, DLCs, and updates coming to Xbox Game Pass for July — as well as everything that's leaving — over on the Xbox Wire. Fallout 76 and Soul Calibur 6 certainly lead the pack of announcements, but there are several other worthwhile games hitting the service this month as well.

We'll give you a quick rundown below in case you missed it, starting with games by release date, then followed by updates by release date.

Starting July 1, console players will have access to Soul Calibur 6, the latest installment in Bandai Namco's long-running fighting game franchise. The game features the expected arcade and multiplayer PvP modes, but it also includes two different story modes — Soul Chronicle and Libra of Souls —offering hours of play that we quite enjoyed

On top of that, the game includes many of the fighters and combatants fans have come to love over the years, as well as a few new faces, such as The Witcher 3's Geralt of Rivia, Nier: Automata's YoRHa No.2 Type B, and Samurai Shodown's Haohmaru.

Unfortunately, the stage of champions won't be making an appearance on PC. However, those using the service on desktop will get Out of the Park Baseball 21 on July 1.

Though we haven't played it (sorry), we do know that the baseball management sim has been mostly well-received over the years, with many praising it for its design and presentation. More importantly, though, Steam tells us is OotPB21 is (probably) good because it carries a "very positive" rating across more than 700 reviews since March 2020.

CrossCode, a 16-bit action RPG that was crowdfunded way back in 2015 and released in late 2018, will be coming to Game Pass for console on July 9. We reviewed the game last year, giving it high marks for its story, characters, combat, and presentation.

According to the Xbox Wire, Corsscode includes "more than 30 boss fights, over 120 enemy types, huge dungeons filled up with countless puzzles, combat skills, and a ton of quests supported by handmade music tracks...". Sounds pretty good.

Perhaps the most intriguing inclusion in this month's games is Bethesda's post-apocalyptic quasi-MMO Fallout 76. It will be available for both console and PC starting July 9. Its debut on Game Pass includes the recent Wastelander's expansion, which brings NPCs to the wasteland, as well as new quests, creatures, and gear.

We thought Bethesda's "experiment" was ok when we reviewed it at launch in late 2018. But two years is a long time, and Bethesda has done a lot of work on 76 between now and then. Considering it's free through Game Pass, there's no harm in checking it out for yourself — or even give it another go.

Other additions to Game Pass in July include Minecraft Dungeons: Jungle Awakens DLC (July 1) and the State of Decay 2 Green Zone & Plunder Packs (undated).

Lastly, these games will be leaving Game Pass on July 15:

  • Blazing Chrome
  • Dead Rising 4
  • Metal Gear Solid 5
  • Timespinner
  • Unavowed
  • Undertale

We plan on providing more coverage of what's coming to and leaving Game Pass in the future, so be sure to check back next month for news on what's being added and removed in August!

Minecraft Dungeons Nether Portal Guide https://www.gameskinny.com/c68bt/minecraft-dungeons-nether-portal-guide https://www.gameskinny.com/c68bt/minecraft-dungeons-nether-portal-guide Tue, 09 Jun 2020 18:40:46 -0400 GS_Staff

There are many secrets hidden away in Mojang's new dungeon-crawler, but none more mysterious than the Minecraft Dungeons Nether Portal. Since the game's release date, many players have been trying to figure out what it's for and how to activate it.

Sadly, it appears that the Nether Portal isn't actually functional as of this writing, some two weeks after launch. Many surmise that the Nether Portal has something to do with the game's upcoming DLC, though whether that's the Jungle Awakens DLC, which releases sometime in July, or the Creeping Winter DLC, which is scheduled to release sometime later in 2020, remains unclear.

The TL;DR is that we don't exactly know what the Nether Portal is for or when it will activate. It could be DLC related, but it might not be either.

A Redditor claims to have "found the other end of the broken Nether Portal" by using "switch files modded" into the PC version of the game, which you can see here if you dare.

While it remains to be seen if the above Reddit post proves true, we do know for certain how to find the Nether Portal so you can see for yourself.

Minecraft Dungeons Nether Portal Guide

How to Find the Minecraft Dungeons Nether Portal

The Nether Portal is located in a secret area to the right of your house in your camp.

The area is inaccessible in the early-game. To open the area, you must beat the game and defeat the last boss (the Arch-Illager) at the Obsidian Pinnacle, following the battle at Highblock Halls.

Once you beat the Arch-Illager, return to your camp. You will see new launchpads/jumpads to the right of your house. Jump on the first one to land on the stone platform between your house and the new area. Then jump on the second one to enter the newly unlocked area.

Follow the path right for a short way, and then turn left when the area opens up (just after you descend the small set of stone stairs). The Nether Portal will be on your left, standing out in the open.

Minecraft Dungeons Stuck on Loading Screen Switch Fix Guide https://www.gameskinny.com/dr94v/minecraft-dungeons-stuck-on-loading-screen-switch-fix-guide https://www.gameskinny.com/dr94v/minecraft-dungeons-stuck-on-loading-screen-switch-fix-guide Mon, 08 Jun 2020 16:56:38 -0400 Josh Broadwell

Minecraft Dungeons launched just a few weeks ago, so naturally, there are some bugs yet to be worked out. One of them involves having Minecraft Dungeons stuck on loading screen in the Nintendo Switch version. There's been some chatter floating around about how to fix the issue, with one prevailing idea being that you have to delete your save data and start again.

Don't do that. We have a better solution with our Minecraft Dungeons stuck on loading screen Switch fix guide.

Minecraft Dungeons Stuck on Loading Screen Switch Fix

Again, don't delete your save data. Instead, here's what to do.

  • Launch Minecraft Dungeons in Airplane Mode (i.e., with wireless turned off).
  • Navigate to the game's "Settings" menu.
  • While still in Airplane Mode, select "Sign Out of All Online Play."
  • Turn Airplane Mode off again.
  • Go back to "Settings."
  • Reconnect to your Microsoft Account.

This should fix the issue, according to a number of Reddit users who've experimented with the issue since it started cropping up over a week ago.

Some have reported fixing the problem by just launching the game in Airplane Mode, then shutting it off again once the screen asking whether you want to play in online or offline mode showed up. But it doesn't seem to be a consistent fix.

Why this issue keeps happening isn't quite as clear, though it seems possible it might stem from creating a Microsoft Account linked to a non-Microsoft system for a game that doesn't technically have cross-platform play yet. Hopefully, Microsoft will patch the problem soon, though.

Minecraft Dungeons Local Co Op: How to Play Offline Multiplayer https://www.gameskinny.com/g5ixe/minecraft-dungeons-local-co-op-how-to-play-offline-multiplayer https://www.gameskinny.com/g5ixe/minecraft-dungeons-local-co-op-how-to-play-offline-multiplayer Mon, 01 Jun 2020 15:10:05 -0400 GS_Staff

Minecraft Dungeons local co op is one of the best ways to play Mojang's newest dungeon crawler. Offline split screen multiplayer lets you play with your friends and family in the same room, on the same display. It's a massive win for those that only have a single system or want to recapture the glory days of couch co op gameplay on a single screen.

While Dungeons might not be crossplay (for the moment), it does provide ways to play locally on the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Is Minecraft Dungeons Co op? Is There Split Screen Multiplayer?

Minecraft Dungeons lets you adventure with friends using local, split screen coop.

Yes. Up to four players play Minecraft Dungeons together. However, the game is not a traditional split screen game. Instead, players share a single screen when playing together.

You'll also need two to four controllers to play the game at the same time on any platform, including PC. For PC, that's true whether you've purchased the game outright or if you're playing through Xbox Game Pass.

For those playing local co op in Minecraft Dungeons, it's essential to know that in some respects, the game can be both more difficult and more rewarding when playing split screen multiplayer. According to Microsoft and Mojang, Dungeons features a difficulty and loot scaling system. More players means more enemies and more loot, as well as an increased difficulty level.

To play together, simply use the menu in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. In your camp, change your game from online game to offline game using the shoulder buttons. After the other players join, you'll be ready to play!

Players can see the platform-specific input for joining a local multiplayer game in the up right-hand corner of the screen.

Can I Play Minecraft Dungeons Online Multiplayer and Local Co Op at the Same Time?

The Minecraft Dungeons initial release date wasn't that long ago, so the game hasn't received many updates yet. At launch, the game does not support crossplay. You cannot play online and local co op at the same time, either.

The official Minecraft Dungeons FAQ says explicitly that the functionality is not supported "at launch." Though Mojang has not said that the functionality will come to the game in the future, the way in which the FAQ is worded makes it seem like the possibility exists for it sometime in the future.

Minecraft Dungeons co op multiplayer is an excellent throwback to the days of local split screen; there's nothing quite like sitting back on a couch with friends and playing your favorite game together using the same screen. If you've been asking "Is Minecraft Dungeons worth it," this functionality by be enough to justify the price of admission and a download.

Minecraft Dungeons just launched this week, and while we're enjoying it quite a bit, we can't say the idea of new Minecraft Dungeons content doesn't intrigue us. Fortunately, we won't have long to wait for more because Minecraft Dungeons' first DLC pack, Jungle Awakens, is out in July.

The news comes from an update Mojang posted on the official Minecraft website.

There's no solid release date yet for Jungle Awakens, but it's the first of two planned DLC expansions for this year; the second is Creeping Winter, which is out sometime later this year.

Jungle Awakens brings with it an entirely new environment — a jungle, obviously — and three new missions. On top of that is a wealth of new items, gear, and artifacts to enhance your party.

Mojang briefly mentioned some of the new enemies we can expect to find in Jungle Awakens too: the Leapleaf, Jungle Zombie, and Poison Quill Vine. They're apparently pretty aggressive, so Mojang says you'll need to make sure your gear and party are in good order before heading into the jungle.

The full announcement is on the Minecraft website, where Mojang also says plans for Minecraft Dungeons cross-play are still proceeding smoothly.

We've still got a little while to wait until Minecraft Dungeons' Jungle Awakens DLC launches in July, but that gives you plenty of time to brush up on your dungeon-crawling skills with our Minecraft Dungeons guides. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Minecraft Dungeons news as it develops.

Minecraft Dungeons: How to See a Level's Secrets and Chests https://www.gameskinny.com/q30lv/minecraft-dungeons-how-to-see-a-levels-secrets-and-chests https://www.gameskinny.com/q30lv/minecraft-dungeons-how-to-see-a-levels-secrets-and-chests Fri, 29 May 2020 16:45:01 -0400 Daniel Hollis

If you've been playing Minecraft Dungeons this past week, you'll probably have finished multiple levels without discovering all of the chests. But did you know there's a way to see how many chests and secrets are within each level?

Though Minecraft Dungeons has set levels, each are randomized in their design, ensuring that each trip through feels like a new experience. Some runs will grant fewer chests, while others will have more chests with more secrets to discover.

These secrets could range from special runes or entry to secret dungeons, which, once completed, will unlock hidden additional missions to partake in for bigger loot drops.

Minecraft Dungeons: How to See a Level's Secrets and Chests

Throughout your Minecraft Dungeons journeys, you have access to the map at all times. If you press down on the d-pad on consoles or tab on PC, you'll be greeted with an overlay transparent map, which shows in bold which areas you've visited in a nearby radius.

But there's a more in-depth map you can open that the game doesn't tell you.

If you hold down on the d-pad on consoles or press M on PC, you will gain access to a bigger map which provides further information.

The new map will have two counters in the bottom left corner. One for chests and one for secrets. Both will tell you how many are in the level and how many you've collected.

What Can the Minecraft Dungeons Map Tell Me?

Utilizing this ability is crucial for those on a quest to discover runes and paths to secret levels, as the secret indicator provides information on whether this particular randomized map has spawned them into existence.

It's helpful to know this to avoid redundant runs of particular levels, which may leave you with nothing. Seeing the counters at the beginning will alert you on whether the trip is worth it.

Not only that, but areas you've previously discovered and missed chests in will be highlighted on the map with a chest icon, so long as you've already discovered that area. It will highlight any loot dropped that you've missed with a handy light beam on the map.

Seeing the counters can be useful for once you've found the mission end as well, to see if any necessary backtracking is needed for anything you've potentially missed.

Minecraft Dungeons Best Weapons Tier List Guide https://www.gameskinny.com/2s26u/minecraft-dungeons-best-weapons-tier-list-guide https://www.gameskinny.com/2s26u/minecraft-dungeons-best-weapons-tier-list-guide Fri, 29 May 2020 14:30:31 -0400 Serhii Patskan

There's a weapon for everyone in Minecraft Dungeons, but the best stand above the rest as rare unique equipment.

Unique weapons are especially hard to find in any game, much less Minecraft Dungeons, but they are almost always well-worth the effort.

In this guide we are going to go over the best weapons in the game sorted by their strength. We'll also be going into where you can find each of these weapons to use them yourself and we will be recommending enchantments to make the most of them.

Tier-S Weapons

Elite Power Bow

  • Damage: 107-213
  • Effects:
    • Strong Charged Attacks
    • Greater Damage

If you're looking to smash mobs from a distance in one hit, then seek out this insane bow at either Fiery Forge or Highblock Hills.

On its own this bow has all the damage in the world, but if you add Rapid Fire and Piercing enchantments to it, then it will gain even greater speed and damage power.

Another effective enchantment is Ricochet, which would allow your arrows to kill more than one mob at a time. In combination with its deadly power, this bow will easily become your most valuable weapon.

Dark Katana

  • Damage: 121-178
  • Effects: Extra damage to undead

This unique blade has been designed specifically to kill zombie mobs. But it is just as good against all other types of enemies.

If you empower it with the Chains and Gravity enchantments, then you will be able to swing through multiple enemies at a time. Taking into account its enormous base damage, hordes of zombies will die instantly.

Look out for Dark Katana in the secret chests of the Creepy Crypt or Creeper Woods locations.

Frost Scythe

  • Damage: 78
  • Effects:
    • +2 Soul Gathering
    • Slows mobs

The base damage on Frost Scythe may be low, but if you take into account its Soul Gathering ability, then you can use it to fuel its power. The more souls you gather, the bigger damage it deals.

The Shockwave enchantment is the best choice for this scythe, which works like an AoE. Now you will be able to deal with an entire horde of enemies instead of taking them out one by one.

This rare weapon can be found inside chests located in the Pumpkin Pastures or Desert Temple.

Tier-A Weapons

Guardian Bow

  • Damage: 66-199
  • Effects:
    • Strong Charged Attacks
    • Super Charged Arrows

If you can't find an Elite Power Bow, then this would be the best alternative. You need to search for Guardian Bow in Pumpkin Pastures or Cacti Canyon locations.

It basically has the same stats and effects as the Elite Power Bow. The only difference is that this bow has a slightly lower base damage.

In addition to Piercing and Rapid Fire enchantments you can add Supercharge, which makes all its charged arrows deal even more damage.

Firebrand

  • Damage: 66-199
  • Effects:
    • Burns mobs
    • Spin attack move

This one-handed axe has become a favorite of many players in a rather short period of time due to its stacked power and fire damage, which literally sets mobs on fire.

Firebrand's speed can be increased significantly using the Rampaging enchantment, which works in synergy with the Spin Attack ability.

This axe can be found in the Creeper Woods or Highblock Hills.

Hammer of Gravity

  • Damage: 86
  • Effects:
    • Great Splash
    • Pulls in enemies

The unique feature of this excellent hammer is the embedded gravity pull, which captures enemies like a magnet.

This means that you don't have to move as much, and just use Chain enchantment to lock all mobs in the area and deal with them at once.

Hammer of Gravity usually drops at Fiery Forge or Obsidian Pinnacle.

Tier-B Weapons

Diamond Pickaxe

  • Damage: 82
  • Effects: Finds more emeralds

Although Diamond Pickaxe may not be the most powerful weapon in the game, it is actually the most important weapon since Emeralds are essential for survival.

You can increase its power with such enchantments like Smiting and Sharpness to give it that extra damage. When Emeralds start dropping like rain from the sky, you'll know that this is the weapon you always wanted.

You can find Diamond Pickaxe in the Creeper Woods.

Sun's Grace

  • Damage: 56-77
  • Effects: Heals all allies in the area

Minecraft Dungeons is not meant to be played alone, but with a bunch of friends in co-op online multiplayer.

This means that somebody ought to play the role of a healer in the party. If you like playing that kind of role, then Sun's Grace will be your number one choice.

You don't even have to fight enemies, just stand back and allow your stronger buddies do the job while you heal them up.

There is a chance that a blacksmith at the camp will craft it for you.

Minecraft Dungeons: How to Invite Friends for Online Coop https://www.gameskinny.com/fervv/minecraft-dungeons-how-to-invite-friends-for-online-coop https://www.gameskinny.com/fervv/minecraft-dungeons-how-to-invite-friends-for-online-coop Thu, 28 May 2020 10:59:35 -0400 Serhii Patskan

Playing with friends in Minecraft Dungeons is often more fun than playing alone. It's one of the game's primary draws: you and three friends frantically slicing through mobs to get glorious loot and treasure. Consequently, you might be wondering how to invite friends for Minecraft Dungeons online coop.

However, the process of setting up an online coop session is a bit tricky. You can only invite friends and join sessions being hosted by your friends. You can't join or invite strangers, which is absolutely understandable. Minecraft Dungeons is best experienced with a common goal in mind, and players you're familiar with.

Below, we go over the steps for setting up an online co-op session in MC Dungeons

How to Invite Friends for Minecraft Dungeons Online Coop

The option for inviting friends becomes available after you finish the Minecraft Dungeons tutorial. Luckily, the tutorial is only about 10 minutes long.

Once you're done with the tutorial, you'll find yourself at your first camp. From there:

  1. Select the "Online Game" menu
  2. Select the "Start Online Game" option
  3. Click the "Add Friend" button

You will see a list of users that are both online and offline. If you want to invite a friend who is online, simply click the "Invite" option.

If you want to join another player's multiplayer session, then do the following:

  1. Select the "Online Game" menu
  2. Select the "Start Online Game" option
  3. Go to the "Game Sessions" tab
  4. Press the "Refresh" button
  5. Join any available session

If everything goes right, you will immediately see your friends in your world, or you will find yourself in their game if you joined their session.

In either case, mission accomplished! You can now freely explore the world of Minecraft Dungeons together.

Minecraft Dungeons Unable to Verify Game Ownership Fix https://www.gameskinny.com/e8o3n/minecraft-dungeons-unable-to-verify-game-ownership-fix https://www.gameskinny.com/e8o3n/minecraft-dungeons-unable-to-verify-game-ownership-fix Thu, 28 May 2020 11:27:28 -0400 Serhii Patskan

While most Minecraft Dungeons players have been able to drop dozens of hours into Mojang's dungeon crawler, some have been met with a nasty little bug. Mostly striking PC players, the Minecraft Dungeons "unable to verify game" bug has kept many trying to play through Game Pass from actually getting into the game.

If Minecraft Dungeons is not working for you, we have a potential fix for the bug below. However, it's worth noting that this is not a permanent patch. The bug may return in the future — or at least until Mojang provides a substantial, permanent solution.

How to Fix the Unable to Verify Game Ownership Bug in Minecraft Dungeons

The ownership verification bug seems to have something to do with a device installation error. Before you do anything, let's start by troubleshooting the basics. Make sure your version of Windows 10 has all of the latest updates.

If you're not sure how to check for Windows 10 updates, follow these steps:

  1. Click "Start"
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Select the "Update and Security" tab
  4. Click on "Download the update"

Now try starting the game again. If that does not work, exit Minecraft Dungeons and uninstall the Xbox Beta application. Restart your PC and reinstall the Xbox Beta application.

If you are still getting the "unable to verify game ownership" error, uninstall Minecraft Dungeons and manually re-install it on your computer.

  1. Go to the Microsoft Store
  2. Search for Minecraft Dungeons
  3. Press the "..." button in the game's window
  4. Click on "Install on my devices"
  5. Confirm the installation

When the download and installation processes finish, click "Play." If the game doesn't start, keep pressing "Try again" until the game starts.

If this fix didn't help, then you will most likely have to wait for the official patch that (hopefully) fixes this bug once and for all.

Minecraft Dungeons Runes Locations Guide https://www.gameskinny.com/r0atm/minecraft-dungeons-runes-locations-guide https://www.gameskinny.com/r0atm/minecraft-dungeons-runes-locations-guide Thu, 28 May 2020 22:52:04 -0400 Mark Delaney

If you're not already playing Minecraft Dungeons, it's likely your kids are. In our review, we likened the game to a fun, family-friendly Diablo, which seems to be exactly what Mojang was going for. To add to all of the content Dungeons has to offer, there are a number of hidden runes spread across the game, and finding them can be a tall task if you don't know where to look.

Once you've beaten the final boss in co-op or in solo mode, the fun isn't over. With nine hidden Runes to locate and one final secret level unlocking once you've found them, there are still stones to overturn.

In this guide, we'll show you how to find each of the nine hidden Runes so you can reach the cow level.

Minecraft Dungeons Rune Locations

Before You Begin...

Before we reveal each hidden Rune location, there are a few things to know about how Minecraft Dungeons operates. While each level contains elements of randomization, these bits are actually somewhat predictable.

Only certain sections of any level can be changed, and when they are, it's more like the devs rotated a modular part of the level, keeping its shape but changing its direction.

Thankfully, the sections that contain the hidden Runes don't seem to change with multiple playthroughs, so when you see where we found each Rune, rest assured that you'll find it there too, even if the paths we took may differ.

What Are Runes in Minecraft Dungeons?

Runes are a hard to find collectible with more incentive than an achievement to pop. You can insert Runes into the cathedral at your home base. This cathedral is unavailable until you've beaten the game at least once. Before that, the drawbridge leading to it is inaccessible.

Once you have beaten Minecraft Dungeons, however, head to the northeast corner of the home base, to the right of your home, and you'll find new jump pads. Follow these jump pads and the path eventually takes you to the cathedral beside the drawbridge.

You can now lower the bridge for easier access in the future and head inside. Once inside, you'll find what we're guessing are developer portraits along the walls, and one portrait of a dog, whom we do not expect contributed directly to the creation of Minecraft Dungeons, but we could be wrong.

Past that, at the end of the hall, there is a large monument with symbols above it waiting for your runes. You can insert them here in any quantity and order, so don't worry about that. Once you've found all nine runes, the fifth and most elusive secret level is revealed, but that loops us back to where you may find all those runes and other secret levels in the first place. Let's jump into it.

Minecraft Dungeons Rune Locations

In total, there are five hidden levels in Minecraft Dungeons, though the last of them can only be accessed once you've found all nine Runes detailed above.

Rather annoyingly, the other four are always found in the same levels, but different areas given the semi-procedurally generated levels. Those four levels, and where to find them are:

  • Creepy Crypt (within Creeper Woods)
  • Soggy Cave (within Soggy Swamp)
  • Arch Haven (within Pumpkin Pastures)
  • Underhalls (within Highblock Halls)

We go into greater detail below.

Creepy Woods Rune Location

When you're prompted to free five villagers, look for the cobblestone platform in the middle of a grassy area. There's an interactable button hidden there. Press it, follow the path through the level, and acquire the first Rune.

Soggy Swamp Rune Location

Destroy the final cauldron  it's your last objective of the level  but before you exit through the victory doors, seek out the vine-covered pillar to the right of the doors. Another hidden button awaits, with another Rune behind it.

Pumpkin Pastures Rune Location

When you come to a castle area, turn back a bit and look for a grey bridge wall going off to the right. Follow it to its end and touch the boxes near the oddly colored stone wall at the end. Surprise! It's another Rune.

Cacti Canyon Rune Location

In the middle of the level, you'll find a blue key. In this same area, there are some cacti doing very well to hide another hidden object. Interact with it like you see in the screenshot above, and it will lead you to the fourth Rune.

Redstone Mines Rune Location

In the large area where you must free six villagers (note: not the earlier section where you free three villagers), travel to the end of the area, either before you've freed them or not, it doesn't really matter so long as you don't die.

Search along the walls once again for a hidden button for hiding another Rune. After this, I'm never playing hide and seek again.

Desert Temple Rune Location

When you're tasked with finding the gold key, head to the next room over from where you find the item and search along the wall for another hidden button revealing a new Rune location.

Fiery Forge Rune Location

Head to the left of the collapsed Redstone Golem and once again, search along the wall for a hidden access point. Guess what's in there. Yup, another Rune.

Highblock Halls Rune Location

Once you're told to "crash the party," and before you head down a narrow hallway, search along the wall in the screenshot here to find your second to last Rune location.

Obsidian Pinnacle Rune Location

We're nearly done now. In the game's final level, search the library near the very end of the level  don't go outside without doing this! Once more, there will be an access point within a bookshelf. Behind that, you'll find your last Rune.

Secret Cow Level, aka "???" Level

The final secret level, called "???" is actually a nod to Diablo's secret cow level. Once you've unlocked all nine runes and placed them in the monument with the symbols inside the cathedral, the cow level in Minecraft Dungeons will reveal itself on your map table.

Good luck against the boss, the Mooshroom Monstrosity. Our suggestion? Use this chunk of landmass to your advantage. The boss gets udderly stuck behind it often.

Each of the secret levels offers more chances to acquire rare or unique loot and amass more emeralds. Once found, you can replay these secret levels from the map screen just as you would any other level.

You know what Minecraft is. You’ve probably played it, because, well, it seems like everyone has at some point. So, after spending $2 billion on buying the whole IP, it’s no surprise that Microsoft is trying to expand the game into a franchise. Minecraft Dungeons is the first foray into totally new territory. It’s an instantly recognizable dungeon crawl that features as much Diablo as it does Minecraft.

In fact, it maybe mixes more of the classic dungeon crawler than it does its own namesake. Minecraft Dungeons is a straight-up hack and slasher, through and through. It looks like Minecraft, but certainly doesn’t play like it. For parental units, this game is probably going to be a gift from the gaming gods. It’s the fun of much more violent and bleak dungeon crawlers with a flair for the fun and absurd.

The blocky character designs make the villains look mostly absurdly funny. There are various types of armed Illigers, spiders, witches, zombies, skeletons, ghosts, golems, and other mostly familiar monsters, along with farm animals that you can either ignore or just hack up too. Across over a dozen levels, you’ll trudge through swamps, deserts, towns, deep underground lairs, castles, and more.

Of course, the big appeal is four-player cooperative multiplay both on and offline. Microsoft is adamant there will also be cross-play added in the near future, but it’s not there just yet.

Minecraft Dungeons Review: A Diabolical Battle of Blocks

Admittedly, it took me a while to warm up to Dungeons. There are elements of it that, despite the overall fun of the game, still seem like lost opportunities.

First is the character creation. You pick a skin from a fairly robust assortment, but there are no classes, no specialties, and no differences between them beyond looks. Any customization is done based on the armor, weapons, and items you equip, which makes it easy to miss the perks and personalities of Diablo’s very specific classes and characters. Here, characters are blank slates, mannequins to dress up and fight with.

Adding to this issue is the random nature of item collecting. Whether you get new items from treasure chests or the blacksmith and artifact-shilling shopkeeper, there’s no control over what they have for sale. You literally pay them gems for a random item. Sometimes, this lands you a truly magnificent weapon, like a spear that creates poison clouds or a mace that calls down lightning. Most of the time, especially later in the game, you’ll just get repeat items to salvage immediately.

Items can be upgraded with enchantment points that do a variety of things that range from adding more damage or protection to increasing the time certain effects last. There’s a huge amount of objects to discover and try out, and each item has a level that can be increased. So, there’s a constant loop to upgrade even favored weapons to better iterations.

It’s frustrating, however, to discover the wonder of the game’s sledgehammer, then not be able to simply upgrade its level yourself or find a better one on purpose. Thankfully, when you salvage an unwanted item, you get back any enchantment points you put into it.

Just the same, this is one major part of the game where more of the source material would have been welcome. It may have Minecraft in the title, but there’s no mining or crafting in Dungeons. There’s no destructible scenery beyond specific urns or the occasional mission-imperative items (like a particularly amusing bit where you literally kill all the big baddy’s cooks and destroy his buffet tables).

Much like Diablo, there are also no camera controls. The right stick lets you dodge, but it does not move the camera. Unlike Diablo, however, the visual nature of Minecraft, frequently makes it hard to distinguish elevations, since textures frequently look so similar. Other foibles include no ability to save in-mission and, horrifyingly, no actual pause, which should be a criminal offense.

While the overall level design is quite excellent and varied, the maps too frequently have a horde of dead ends, nooks, crannies, and side passages begging the completionists among us to explore them. While these diversions from the main objective are usually filled with more monsters and, therefore more fun bashing mobs, there’s a lack of actual treasure hidden around that becomes noticeable the more you play.

Probably the biggest peeve beyond the lack of a pause for those playing with younger kids or just more casual gamers is the complete inability to share equipment. Chests spew out items that only one specific character can pick up, even if they have no need for it. Not being able to share in a Minecraft game feels counter to the whole point of Minecraft. You also have a limited number of shared lives during a mission, which seems like a step back.

Yet for all that, Minecraft Dungeons is still a riot, whether playing alone, with kids, or just your buds. Some of the levels are huge, and exploring every corner of their maps can take an hour. Others are shorter and more direct, but the game never feels boring, and the action never dumbed down. Later in the game, the levels can get hectically crowded and nearly overwhelming due to the number of mobs it throws at you.

It’s true that experienced players can certainly get through Dungeons in a day, but that takes away from the level of secrets the game holds. Just following the straight mission objective path means missing potential portals to secret levels, of which several have already been discovered and more are waiting to be. Plus, there are at least two DLC map packs on the way.

Then, there’s the camp. Camp is where players go between missions and seems like nothing more than a picturesque place to sort items, buy random things, and look at the world map. As the game progresses, however, the camp map begins to unlock more and more areas, and exploring it becomes an ongoing objective all on its own.

Minecraft Dungeons Review — The Bottom Line

Pros:
  • Great hacking and slashing, dungeon-crawling gameplay for everybody
  • Four-player support on and off-line
  • Large diverse levels and tons of items to discover
  • Affordably priced
Cons:
  • Bland characters
  • No pause, in-mission saves, or item sharing
  • No camera controls
  • Not enough hidden treasures in maps

Minecraft Dungeons certainly has its fair share of flaws and even outright bugs, but the more time spent with it, the more enjoyable it becomes. It’s hard to deny that it should have had more of its namesake’s crafting and building gameplay, but overall, this is an entertaining action game for all ages.

That it’s surprisingly cheap (the base version is $20, and $30 gets you future DLC and special items) is also a huge bonus.

Sure, you've got armor to keep you protected in Minecraft Dungeons, but we all know artifacts are where it's really at.

Artifacts don't grant stats here, but they do give your character access to unique skills they can only use while the artifact is equipped. Luckily you can have up to three artifacts equipped at a time, and the skills of all three will be available to you.

Combine artifact skills with equipment enchantments, and you've got yourself a powerful array of tools to customize your active and passive abilities to your liking.

Pair this information up with our guides on the armor enchantments and weapon enchantments in Minecraft Dungeons, and you should be able to work up a build in no time.

Minecraft Dungeons Weapon Enchantment Guide https://www.gameskinny.com/y76ko/minecraft-dungeons-weapon-enchantment-guide https://www.gameskinny.com/y76ko/minecraft-dungeons-weapon-enchantment-guide Mon, 25 May 2020 15:19:38 -0400 Ashley Shankle

The enchantment system and artifact system give Minecraft Dungeons a unique twist on the ARPG gear affix systems we've come to know and love, and luckily, that unique twist is fairly easy to understand.

Each time you level up, you are granted an Enchantment Point to spend on enchantments for your equipment. Each enchantment can be upgraded to Level 3 for increasingly useful effects.

It's also worth knowing that a single piece of equipment can have the same enchantment on it twice, or you can have multiple items with the same enchantment. In these situations, the bonuses will stack.

This guide goes over just weapon enchantments. Be sure to check out our similar armor enchantments guide, as well as our Minecraft Dungeons artifacts guide going over artifact effects and locations.

How to Return Enchantment Points in Minecraft Dungeons

You cannot undo Enchantments placed on gear, but you can salvage the equipment to return the Enchantment Points you spent on them.

You should salvage any gear you're done using, whether weapons or armor. Once you switch to a new piece of equipment, salvage your old equipment to get your Enchantment Points back and spend them on your new gear.

All you have to do to salvage your gear and get your Enchantment Points back is:

  1. Select the item that you're done with in your inventory
  2. Click/Select the big "SALVAGE" button in the gear info window

Salvaging does destroy the item in question!

Minecraft Dungeons Melee Weapon Enchantments

Each enchantment can be invested in three times to reach maximum effectiveness.

In the table below, all three levels' values are shown and underlined to help with your planning.

Additionally, enchantments that are considered "Powerful," rather than Common, are italicized below.

While melee and ranged weapons' enchantments are different in Minecraft Dungeons, you may be happy to know that all armor shares the same pool of enchantments for you to work with so things don't get too complicated.

You will be granted an enchantment point to spend on enchantments on your weapons or armor each time you level up, allowing you to feel even more powerful with each level advancement.

Each enchantment can be upgraded for increasingly potent effects, up to a third, particularly powerful tier.

A single piece of equipment can have the same enchantment on it twice, or you can have multiple items with the same enchantment. In these situations, the bonuses will stack. Useful!

This guide goes over just armor enchantments. Be sure to check out our similar guide covering weapon enchantments, as well as our Minecraft Dungeons artifacts guide going over artifact effects and locations.

How to Return Enchantment Points in Minecraft Dungeons

You may not be able to undo enchantments placed on gear, but you can salvage the equipment to return the Enchantment Points you spent on them.

Once you switch to a new piece of equipment, salvage your old equipment to get your Enchantment Points back and spend them on your new gear. This means you should be salvaging anything you've invested points into and are not using anymore.

All you have to do to salvage your gear and get your Enchantment Points back is:

  1. Select the item that you're done with in your inventory
  2. Click/Select the big 'Salvage' button in the gear info window

Salvaging does destroy the item in question, so be careful you don't salvage something you still need.

Minecraft Dungeons Armor Enchantments

As with weapon enchantments, armor ones can be invested in up to three times to reach their maximum potential.

Mojang Says No to Minecraft Dungeons Online Matchmaking https://www.gameskinny.com/2wqfw/mojang-says-no-to-minecraft-dungeons-online-matchmaking https://www.gameskinny.com/2wqfw/mojang-says-no-to-minecraft-dungeons-online-matchmaking Wed, 22 Apr 2020 16:39:29 -0400 Josh Broadwell

Minecraft Dungeons is out next month on May 26. Ahead of that, we've got some new information about how Minecraft Dungeons online matchmaking will work, namely that the Minecraft-meets-Diablo spinoff won't have it.

The news comes from the game's FAQ page, which True Achievements picked up on recently.

The goal is getting people to play Minecraft Dungeons together. "Minecraft Dungeons is designed to be played together with your friends – either on a comfy couch or in a comfy online session," Mojang says.

And as the quote shows, Minecraft Dungeons still supports online play for friends. You just can't get paired up with random people. Don't forget as well that for a time, you'll need to play with friends who own the game on the same platform as you; Minecraft Dungeons crossplay isn't coming until later.

All this fits with what we already knew about how the team wants people to experience the game based on earlier Minecraft Dungeons dev diaries about level design and balance.

The Minecraft Dungeons FAQ page is on the Minecraft website, and you can check out the original story on True Achievements. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Minecraft Dungeons news as it emerges.

Minecraft Dungeons Release Date Delayed, But Not For Long https://www.gameskinny.com/261c9/minecraft-dungeons-release-date-delayed-but-not-for-long https://www.gameskinny.com/261c9/minecraft-dungeons-release-date-delayed-but-not-for-long Tue, 31 Mar 2020 13:27:35 -0400 Josh Broadwell

Minecraft Dungeons was originally planned for a vague April release date, but that's now changed a bit. Mojang just announced the dungeon-crawler spinoff of its acclaimed block builder will release a month later, on May 26.

It's a simultaneous launch for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One (including Game Pass), PlayStation 4, and PC. Minecraft Dungeons won't initially have full cross-play support, but the team plans on implementing it sometime in the future.

There's no word on why there was a delay for the game. Still, it's barely a month-long delay, so the cause likely wasn't anything too serious.

Dungeons is shaping up to be worthwhile. The development team released multiple dev diary videos highlighting various aspects of Minecraft Dungeons' gameplay over the past few months. We've seen all the care put into Minecraft Dungeons' sound design, along with the challenges of balancing levels to reward single-player and multiplayer styles.

You can pass some of the time leading up to May 26 by checking out the Minecraft Dungeons toy line Mattel and Minecraft are working on too.

Minecraft Devs Talk Minecraft Dungeons Price, Cross-Platform Multiplayer https://www.gameskinny.com/4mand/minecraft-devs-talk-minecraft-dungeons-price-cross-platform-multiplayer https://www.gameskinny.com/4mand/minecraft-devs-talk-minecraft-dungeons-price-cross-platform-multiplayer Thu, 26 Mar 2020 16:10:58 -0400 Josh Broadwell

As we edge ever closer to the dungeon crawler's nebulous "April 2020" release date, developer Mojang recently published an FAQ covering some interesting tidbits about Minecraft Dungeons, including the game's price.

The standard edition of Minecraft Dungeons will cost $19.99 and the Hero Edition, which includes a Hero Cape, two player skins, and a chicken pet, will cost $29.99. The game will release on the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, and it will be available on Xbox Game pass on both PC and Xbox One when it launches.

Mojang is also preparing two DLC packs for Minecraft Dungeons, and Hero Edition buyers get them free when they launch. Individual prices for the DLC packs were not provided.

It should come as no surprise that Minecraft Dungeons is all about local co-op and online multiplayer. That begs the question of whether Minecraft Dungeons will be cross-platform, too. According to Mojang, yes — but not initially.

When Minecraft Dungeons launches, it will only support multiplayer for those playing on the same platform. However, the goal is to introduce cross-platform multiplayer in a free update later.

The full FAQ post is on the Minecraft website.

We're looking forward to Minecraft Dungeons quite a bit, especially after hearing about things like how the team designed the game's soundscapes. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Minecraft Dungeons news as we creep(er) closer to launch.
