Capcom will release Monster Hunter Rise on PC in 2022, series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto told IGN.

Tsujimoto mentioned the decision came after carefully considering what fans wanted. He said:

We received a lot of requests for a PC version of Monster Hunter Rise, particularly from overseas players, and so we have decided to develop a version for PC, which we aim to release in early 2022.

Monster Hunter Rise is built on the RE engine that powered Devil May Cry 5 and the Resident Evil 2 remake. Whether the Rise PC port includes enhanced graphics or at least additional options isn't certain.

Tsujimoto declined IGN's requests for more information, saying the Rise PC port is still under development.

This marks the second Monster Hunter game to see a release on desktop, following Monster Hunter: World and the Iceborne expansion's PC ports. 

Monster Hunter Rise will first release on March 26 for Nintendo Switch. Check out the latest footage from the February Nintendo Direct, featuring new monsters and a glimpse of the deadly Rampage.

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom

There’s Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom if you can’t get enough of Level-5’s world. This one follows Ding Dong Dell prince Evan as he struggles to regain his sense of self following a bloody coup.

Fortunately for him, and us, he meets a charming band of misfits along the way, as well as a gaggle of Higgeldies, giving the sequel as much charm and character as the first Ni No Kuni. There’s even a robust kingdom-building simulator and some extra DLC to round out the experience.

For now, we hope these are enough to tide you over until then and offer a chance to fall in love with a world you've never experienced before.

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch returned to PlayStation 4 in remastered form with updated visuals, which is really just a good excuse to dive into Studio Ghibli and Level-5’s heartwarming (and breaking) masterpiece again.

Young hero Oliver travels to another world to save someone dear to him and mends the shattered hearts of those he meets on the way. It’s part Pokemon, with little familiars you “catch” and train, part action RPG, all wrapped in a package that’s like you’re playing a classic anime series. There's even more where that came from too.

Monster Hunter: World

The original Monster Hunter: World is also free in the PS Plus Collection, making it easier than ever to get into Capcom’s long-running franchise. World redefined Monster Hunter by smoothing over the edges and making it more accessible in a number of ways, from seamless world design to easier tracking.

There’s still plenty of challenge on offer from World’s biggest and baddest monsters, though. You’ll need to keep up with your gear — with the help of MonHun’s adorable Palicoes of course — back at the gorgeous base camp/city if you want a shot at the Elder Dragon causing so much chaos in the world.

Once you’ve done all that, the fun is only just beginning. Monster Hunter: World Iceborne adds new regions, monsters, and gear plus a series of new events. Even better, Capcom’s making these events available again for those who missed them before thanks to a new rotating cycle, so everyone can join in the fun.

Bloodborne

Sure, Demons’ Souls is great (it really is), but have you played Bloodborne? If not, now’s your chance to get it for free with the PS Plus Collection. While the power of the PlayStation 5 doesn’t boost Bloodborne to 60fps, it’s still a remarkable game.

Set in the gothic city of Yharnam that’s just oozing atmosphere from every flying buttress, you play as a fighter injected with special blood by the city’s ruling organization, the Healing Church. It’s supposed to offer protection against a plague turning everyone into monsters, but surprise! It doesn’t.

Now you have to kill them in spectacular style while hunting for a cure. It’s Dark Souls-adjacent, but fast-paced and exhilarating in both visual design and action.

The Outer Worlds

If you really like the idea of a futuristic RPG where your choices (kind of) matter, give Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds a chance. You play as a human taken out of cryogenic stasis to investigate what happened at the Halcyon colony, a corporate-owned space experiment with no end of shady deals attached to it. But you’re free to do… whatever really.

Be a good person, be a stooge, take the middle road, and whatever you choose, watch as your actions shape the lives of everyone around you and determine what ending you get. It's more Fallout-esque than what Obsidian has developed in a little while, but that's definitely not a bad thing.

The Outer Worlds doesn’t re-shape the genre, but it’s a solid first-person sci-fi RPG with equally solid DLC.

Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon

Yakuza 7 is a reboot of sorts following a new character in a new gameplay style. This time, you play as optimist Ichiban Kasuga on his quest to bring some semblance of order to an unjust world. “Quest” is key here because Ichiban sees his world through the lens of his favorite series, Dragon Quest.

That means turn-based battles, job classes, and plenty of retro RPG references mixed in. It takes the series’ usual heartfelt story and dials it up to 12 with some surprisingly on-point observations about society.

Really, both Yakuza games are some of the best RPGs on PlayStation 5, so you can't go wrong either way.

Yakuza 0

There’s so much Yakuza to choose from on PlayStation 4, but your best bet for getting started is Yakuza 0. Yakuza 0 is where it all begins, hence the 0. It’s the height of the bubble economy in 1980s Japan, and you play as newbie yakuza Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima.

While the story is good, as ever it’s the side stories and characters that steal the show, with some of the best writing and wackiest scenarios in gaming. It’s also one of the most refined combat systems in the series. If you want to jump into the latest Yakuza, though, check out the next entry.

NieR: Automata

If you like it when stories mercilessly toy with your brain, then go play NieR: Automata immediately. This bizarre and wonderful game brings together the best parts of Yoko Taro’s scenario writing and Platinum’s peerless action combat for an experience that really is like no other.

In this post-apocalyptic world, where Shakespeare-spewing technology ran humans off the planet, you play (mostly) as 2B. You’re a robot fighter created by the human resistance to destroy the invading menace in action that switches seamlessly between fast-paced 3D fighting and top-down bullet hell across the game’s gorgeous environments.

Once you’re done — you’re not done. You have to beat NieR: Automata several times to get the full story. And don't fret if you think you have to play the upcoming NieR: Replicant to understand it either. The two are completely separate stories.

Tales of Berseria

We’ll have to wait a while yet for more Tales of Arise news, but meanwhile, there’s Tales of Berseria to hold you over on PlayStation 5. While it’s designed as a prequel to the somewhat contentious Tales of Zestiria, Berseria works perfectly well as a standalone game and shakes up the series’ usual storytelling style.

Gone are the obviously good heroes with primarily good motives. In their place is a ragtag bunch of ne’er-do-wells seeking their own ends. Their motives don’t always align, but they share one thing in common: an unquenchable desire for vengeance.

Berseria feels like a culmination of the series’ combo-based fighting begun with Xillia, with fast-paced battles that require much more than just mashing buttons until you win. It’s a solid package and one that’s frequently on sale too.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 1-4

Why settle for one RPG when you can buy and play a four-part series on the same system? As of 2020, PlayStation 4 has all four Trails of Cold Steel games, and if you’re looking for an epic RPG saga like few others, these are definitely worth checking out.

Despite sitting mid-way in the overall Trails series, Cold Steel tells its own story, one of warfare and political intrigue in the aggressively expansionist Erebonian Empire. You play as Rean Schwarzer, son of a minor noble and new student at Thors Military Academy. All is not well in the empire, however, and as Erebonia gradually spreads its influence over the continent, its dark history repeats itself and threatens to consume the entire world.

Like all Trails games, Cold Steel uses a unique combat system where placement and stat augmentations matter more than most RPGs, and the worldbuilding is unparalleled, with countless side stories developing alongside the main plot.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age — Definitive Edition

Maybe you played Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age already, but if you haven’t played DQ XI Definitive Edition yet, you haven’t experienced the game at its best. You get new story chapters for every protagonist plus new story segments where the party travels to the worlds of previous Dragon Quest games to resolve issues popping up there.

It’s the ultimate series tribute, and the scenarios are designed so well, they’re enjoyable even if you haven’t played every game before. You can also play the entire game in 16-bit style 2D if that’s your thing.

If you’ve never played Dragon Quest XI before, then get ready for one of the best RPGs of the generation. The story starts out basic before turning in on itself and making you question the nature of heroism and goodness, making it bolder than previous DQ games. And in true series fashion, XI has a sizeable cast of outrageous and fantastically well-written characters to fall in love with.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition

CD Projekt RED kinda sorta shafted reviewers and consumers alike with Cyberpunk 2077 on consoles, there’s no denying that. But rejoice, ye lovers of massive RPGs, because there’s another option in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

If you’ve yet to play this hulking behemoth of a game, the PlayStation 5 is one of the best ways to experience it. Apart from faster load times taking the sting out of fast travel, there’s a next-gen upgrade in the works giving it some extra visual polish.

The Witcher 3’s vast, open-world houses secrets galore if you feel like finding them. The combat might be stilted, and your choices don’t matter near as much as in Divinity. But the story is pure candy for lovers of high fantasy. Geralt’s world and those who inhabit it gradually absorb you the more you play, and the complete edition boasts two of the finest expansions in RPGs.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition

Saying Larian’s Divinity: Original Sin 2 is a modern Baldur’s Gate is true, but this rich, unique gem of a game is far from derivative. There’s a core story in DoS 2, and it’s a good one with plenty of fantasy flair, treachery, and surprise murders. The real narrative is the one you make along the way, though, and that’s not just a meme thing to say.

DoS 2 is the Romancing SaGa of Western RPGs in that so many choices you make shape the game in ways you don’t always see right away.

A seemingly offhand response to a Seer has you fight her to the death, where you could have just chatted. Your bloodthirsty elf friend wants to kill the slave trader for obvious reasons, yet you need him alive for info… It’s utterly engaging with a complex, yet rewarding combat system and some gorgeous visuals on PlayStation 5.  

Persona 5/Persona 5 Royal

You’ve got two options for Persona 5 on PlayStation 5, and both are easily some of the best RPGs available for the system.

PS Plus subscribers get the original Persona 5 for absolutely freesies through the PS Plus Collection. The original Phantom Thieves saga and all the intertwining character stories that made it a top RPG on the PS4 still hold up now, along with the series’ trademark Persona fusion system and the countless customization options that entails. It’s all wrapped in the most stylish package in gaming too.

But if you’re fine with spending a bit of extra dosh, then go for Royal. It augments the original’s winning system with a wagonload of quality of life upgrades, new Confidants to hang out with, more battle options, and an entire new semester carrying the story to a surprising and touching conclusion.

Final Fantasy 15: Royal Edition

Final Fantasy fans have no shortage of options on PlayStation 5, from the ambitious Final Fantasy 7 Remake to the magnificent Final Fantasy 14. But you’ve just spent hundreds of dollars on a new console, and if you’re looking for the best value for your money, the PS Plus Collection on PS5 brings you Final Fantasy 15: Royal Edition for no extra charge (you do have to subscribe to PS Plus to get it). 

FF15 is a twist on the series’ usual, with a dudebro car adventure taking place in the middle of the franchise's standard political dramas.

We’d be lying if we said it was flawless, with its too-simple combat and somewhat disjointed story. However, the Royal Edition goes a long way in making FF15 feel whole with all the additional story episodes giving new life to the world of Eos. Then there’s the food. Just look at the food!

The PlayStation 5 is here, hooray! And out of its launch lineup, there's only one RPG: Demon's Souls. It's an incredible RPG, sure, but outside of that, it's a bleak slate often par for the course with new consoles.

Fortunately, while we wait for Final Fantasy XVI, Tales of Arise, and whatever else might be in store, the PlayStation 5 is still in a pretty good position for RPGs thanks to backwards compatibility with PS4 games.

Some of the best RPGs are free with the PS Plus Collection, some are expansions of older games, but they’re all top in the genre and definitely some of the most noteworthy PS4 RPGs you can play on the PS5 right now.

Capcom is blurring the boundaries between Monster Hunter: World Iceborne and the upcoming Monster Hunter movie with a limited-time crossover event.

The MH: World and Monster Hunter movie crossover kicks off December 4 and brings a two-part event quests with it. Both are only open to the best of the best and require Master Rank to access.

Part one pits hunters against the Black Diabolos shown off in recent MonHun movie trailers, and it's a solo quest. The second part raises the stakes even higher, with Greater Rathalos as the target monster.

Claiming victory earns hunters a bounty of rewards, including layered armor, new poses, and special titles.

On November 27, Iceborne players can grab a free log-in bonus item pack with "useful items" related to the Monster Hunter movie.

Worlds colliding is the film's theme, with Milla Jovovich and her crew of soldiers transported from this world to one where hungry, angry monsters see them as a tiny snack.

The Monster Hunter movie lands in theaters December 25, and if Paul Anderson has his way, this won't be the last time Jovovich steps into the role of monster hunter.

Capcom is unlocking almost all of Monster Hunter: World's event quests in MH: World Iceborne's 15.10 update in December, the developer announced on Twitter. The 15.10 update also puts Astera and Seliana Fests on a two-week rotation and adjusts the Safi'jiiva Siege.

Putting the two Fests on rotation means everyone gets a chance at unique gear sets and items previously limited to just a few weeks every year.

The same goes for event quests. Capcom added these in most Monster Hunter: World updates, but they usually lasted a week or two at most before disappearing. Capcom didn't mention which quests won't be included yet.

Tweaks to the Safi'jiiva Siege make it possible to take down the monster solo, following fan feedback about how brutal the Siege difficulty was. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Monster Hunter news as it develops

Monster Hunter Rise sits somewhere between Monster Hunter: World and Monster Hunter Generation, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Yasunori Ichinose recently told IGN. It's a unique entry in its own right, they said, and one with plenty of new features fans and series newcomers alike should be able to enjoy.

Tsujimoto and Ichinose said development on Rise started after Generations released in 2015 (in Japan). That means it has elements of both styles, including quality of life features from World and traditional gameplay elements style like Generations.

And despite wall-running leading some fans to speculate Breath of the Wild was an inspiration, it wasn't. Rise's key verticality and Wirebug features were already in place before BotW released.

Speaking of the Wirebug, Tsujimoto and Ichinose said it has no cooldown time and can be used whenever players want. While they don't have to use it in combat, it does open up important new attack combos.

It's also not spammable. The two said monsters react to players' movements and locations (e.g. up a wall) and change their attack styles accordingly.

Single-player quests and multiplayer quests remain separated in Monster Hunter Rise, though there's no voice chat option. Cutscenes are skippable, but Prowler mode — where players control a Palico — won't be making a comeback.

Tsujimoto and Ichinose said there's more information to come in the future.

Meanwhile, Japan's 4Gamer published a new interview with Capcom with a few extra tidbits of info. Monster Hunter Rise has 14 weapon types and, as expected with locations like the Ruined Shrine, many of the new monsters were inspired by Yokai of Japanese mythology.

While there are no confirmed expansions yet, Capcom did say there's plenty of post-launch support planned for Monster Hunter Rise.

Torchlight 3 Halloween — Gears 'N' Goblins Update

The Torchlight 3 Halloween update brings the pets along for the ride. Players can rescue three new Halloween-themed pets from bosses and dungeons: the Midnight Cat, Spooky Retriever, and Dragonling Spirt. Each with a special skill that summons skeletons in battle, but the pets are only available until December.

Aside from battle-pups, the update introduces the Ancient Ember gear set and two new skills along with it, plus new fort decorations and two new weapons: Sword of the Lost and Lightning Baller mace.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker Halloween: Haunted Frontier

Hardspace: Shipbreaker's Halloween event is Haunted Frontier, full of spooky haunted ships that put your bravery — and desire for salvage — to the test.

The update, which is live now on Steam, turns any ship into a potential ghost ship. Things start deteriorating as you gather materials and fend off rogue AI nodes. Lights flicker on and off. Air gets sucked out of the room. And somewhere deep in the ship, unsettling sounds can be heard...

Should you make it out alive, you can show off your hard-earned rewards with new stickers and badges.

Hunt: Showdown Halloween Event

Hunt: Showdown has its first-ever Halloween event on now until November 4, with a gourd-full of ghoulish events and treats to earn.

Players earn Event Points for special equipment and other items by doing the following:

• Destroying pumpkins scattered through the world

• Destroying the Butcher's pumpkin head 
\n
• Investigating a Halloween-themed Clue or Rift 
\n
• Destroying pumpkins mounted on scarecrows 
\n

There's only so many Event Points you can earn each day, but using the special Halloween item Wormseed Shot increases the points earned by 25%.

1,000 Event Points are needed for all the event's special gear. Any points earned over that will be converted into Blood Bonds once the event ends.

Minecraft Halloween in the Minecraft Marketplace

Minecraft Halloween celebrations run through November 2, with frights aplenty in the Minecraft Marketplace. Mojang's got Halloween-themed maps and items in store there, plus Halloween Collections to choose from in the Character Creator and Marketplace.

Until November 2, you can grab a free Halloween skin pack and Halloween character creation item for free. These will still be available to get after November 2, but they won't be free then.

Fire Emblem Heroes Halloween — Special Heroes (Dragons Harvest)

Fire Emblem Heroes' Halloween event runs through November 7 at 7:59 p.m. EST and offers a chance to summon four new Halloween-themed units:

No Man's Sky Halloween Update

Head back to the outer reaches of the galaxy to find some new loot in the No Man's Sky Halloween update. Brave explorers can scour Desolation's wrecked vessels again to find a new item, Tainted Metal, and have a chance to snag some Quicksilver. But it comes at a cost. The freighters are full of new treats and a security system gone haywire.

Trade Tainted Metal with the Scrap Dealer to get new base decorations and additional customization options, or you can stockpile it to exchange for the Horrific Flesh-Helmet.

Scrap Dealers also have Orange Pustules and Detoxified Slimes for infesting and purifying bases.

PixARK Halloween

PixARK Halloween brings a spooky makeover to the survival game from now until November 2, with costumes and treats galore.

Things kick off at the main menu, which is getting a Halloween re-skin. The main attraction is the Pumpkin Soul Reaper though.

When you defeat the Pumpkin Soul Reaper, it might drop:

Apex Legends Halloween: Fight or Fright 2020

Apex Legends' Halloween Fight or Fright event is back with Shadow Royale and more from now until November 3.

Shadow Royale sees night fall on Kings Canyon and its trio matches. When a Legend falls, they're reborn in Shadow form with a thirst for vengeance.

This year's event sees several all-new skins plus re-imagined versions of last year's, including Sweet Dreams Caustic and Wicked Harvest Bloodhound. Skins from last year are available on rotation in the in-game store as part of bundle offers or special offers.

There's a set of exclusive rewards in the event's Prize Track too with skins, charms, and more.

War of The Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius Halloween Special

War of the Visions is celebrating Halloween with two featured UR summons and a bucketful of rewards. Players can summon UR Little Leela and UR Rairyuu from now until November 10, both in Halloween attire with appropriate skills to match.

The Halloween Special also includes a Rewards From the Producer reward period from now until November 10. It features:

GTA Online Halloween Bunker Series

GTA Online has a bunker full of frightful delights this Halloween. Halloween Bunker Series features triple RP and GTA$ plus three Slasher maps: the depths of the bunker, the silo, and The Diamond.

Taking part in the Halloween Adversary modes such as Beast Vs. Slasher and Come Out To Play doubles your RP and GTA$.

The peyote plants are back, in keeping with the spooky season, though Rockstar isn't saying what they'll transform you into yet. Nightclub income rates are going up as part of the event, and there'll be an influx of Freemode Events with triple payouts through October 28.

Mortal Shell Halloween: Rotten Autumn

Mortal Shell's first content update just so happens to be a Halloween update called Rotten Autumn.

After downloading the update, speak with Gorf to unlock a new mini-quest. Completing it earns you new shades to deck out your Shell with. And you can show the world just how you spruced up your Shell with Mortal Shell's brand-new photo mode.

There's also a separate download alongside Rotten Autumn that adds a new soundtrack for boss fights, courtesy of Rotting Christ.

Those who haven't jumped into Mortal Shell yet can do so with a limited-time 20% discount for the digital version on PS4 and PC. That same discount isn't live for Xbox players yet, but it will be come October 27. 

Mortal Shell's physical version releases November 3 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the U.S., then on October 23 for PlayStation 4 and PC (case containing a key) in Europe and October 30 for Xbox One in Europe.

Fortnite Halloween — Fortnitemares 2020

King Midas is back from the great beyond in Fortnite's Fortnitemares 2020 event from now until November 3, and he's giving you the chance to wreak havoc on friend and foe alike.

When you're eliminated in a Solo, Duos or Squads match, you get the chance to return as a Shadow in Nitemare Royal. Attack surviving players from the shadows and even possess vehicles to bring their game to an end.

That's the trick side of things, but the island has plenty of treats in store too. You can get your hands on the Pumpkin Rocket Launcher, Fiend Hunter Crossbow, a special Midas invention, and of course, candy.

There's a suite of Fortnitemares challenges where you can unlock costumes and weapon skins such as the Smash-O'-Lantern Pickaxe and Midas' Shadow Wrap.

Finally, on Halloween night (October 31) at 9 p.m. EST, award-winning reggae singer J Balvin kicks off the Afterlife Party at the Party Royale Main Stage.

PUBG Mobile Infection Mode

PUBG Mobile's Infection Mode is back from the dead from now until November 9, with new content, themes, costumes, and plenty of zombies.

Infection Mode's classic combat returns, pitting a team of Defenders against a team of Zombies in an all-or-nothing fight. Zombies — sporting Halloween masks, if you so choose —  can only use melee attacks, but fallen Defenders transform into Zombies with chances for form shifts and stat buffs.

If it all gets too much for the Defenders, they transform into Vanquishers when their team is down to three members. Foes they vanquish can't be resurrected.

These hellish fights unfold across maps decked out with pumpkins, gravestones, and other seasonal paraphernalia. More costumes and decorations are planned before the end of the event.

World of Tanks Halloween — Burning Games

Free-to-play war game World of Tanks is hosting the Burning Games Halloween event until October in partnership with Korn and their new video for "Finally Free." It's a chance for Tier V and higher vehicles to complete challenges and earn special items and take part in the new Wasteland map.

In World of Tanks Wasteland, tanks start with 1 HP and have to attack others to replenish it. Players can attack allies to restore teammates' health, and respawning increases the tank's overall power.

From October 16 through October 31, players can join The Way of the Raider 60-stage event to earn XP, camo, and the two new tanks featured in Korn's music video.

Finally, from October 24 through October 31, World of Tanks brings back Mad Games, a limited-time chance to outfit your tanks with the wildest abilities possible.

Red Dead Online: The Halloween Pass

It's spooky time at the Red Dead Online corral, with the game's first-ever Halloween Pass. Now through November 16, players can get their hands on wagon-loads of Red Dead Online Halloween rewards, ranging from weapons and costumes to decorations for the tavern. Everything acquired during the event lasts after it ends.

The Halloween Pass is available in the progress menu or the Wheeler, Rawson & Co selection.

Pokemon GO Halloween 2020

Pokemon GO Halloween 2020 runs from October 23 at 9 p.m. EST through November 3 at the same time and offers the first chance to get your hands on Galarian Yamask among other things.

Completing the Halloween Special Research "A Spooky Message Unmasked" gets you one step closer to finding both Galarian Yamask and Spiritomb. Other Field Research tasks will also center around Halloween themes during the event.

Ghost-type Pokemon will be more common in the wild, in Raids, and in Eggs. You might even find a costumed Gengar in Raids or hatch a Sableye in costume if you're lucky.

Talking of Raids, Darkrai takes center stage for five-star Raids, but there's more Halloween Raid goodness in store.

On October 31 from 11 a.m. local time through 5 p.m. local time, there's a higher chance Alolan Marowak will show up in Raids.

There's a special Halloween Cup from October 26 at 4 p.m. EST through the end of the event where only Poison, Dark, Bug, Ghost, and Fairy Pokemon can compete, and they have to have less than 1,500 CP.

It just wouldn't be Halloween without costumes. Pokemon GO Halloween 2020 amps up the costume game with a Gengar onesie, Sableye goggles, Pikachu mask, and more, along with bundles in the in-game shop.

Finally, there's an all-new event on October 26, the Catch Mastery event, which we cover in more detail elsewhere.

Harry Potter Wizards Unite: Darkness Rising 2020

Harry Potter Wizards Unite is back for 2020 and, like its Pokemon counterpart, you can play it safely from home.

This year, Darkness Rising revolves around weekly events where completing tasks — brewing potions, collecting notes, and the like — earns you rewards such as extra XP, Portkeys, and books.

The ultimate goal is finding the Dark Witch, masquerading as a Brilliant Oddity. Other oddities abound, too, including Brilliant Witch, Brilliant Dark Wizard, and Brilliant Giant Stone Hand.

Dreams Halloween

If you're looking for a more atmospheric experience, Dreams' Halloween event, All Hallows' Dreams, may be for you. The whole thing is user-generated, like the rest of Dreams, and All Hallows' Dreams pops up at the top of the world list when you boot the game up.

Choosing it takes you to a dream world with different scary mansions to explore.

Some are reportedly very scary indeed, though they have their biggest frights confined to the upper floors. Others are just fun, creepy haunted houses to explore, complete with pumpkins carved by other Dreams players and a costume zone.

Call of Duty Halloween 2020 — Haunting of Verdansk

Call of Duty Warzone and Modern Warfare share a Halloween event in 2020: Haunting of Verdansk. The event runs from October 20 through November 3. It's a multi-pronged event featuring crossovers with SAW and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but some of it does come at a cost.

If you want the film crossover treats, you'll have to shell out for the SAW and Chainsaw Massacre bundles, both of which include skins, items, and weapons inspired by their respective franchises.

Activision promised more Halloween-themed bundles for the in-game store, including the new Dr. Karlov bundle focused on regional Verdansk folklore and a Grim Reaper bundle.

In addition to Trick or Treat crates with Halloween items galore, Haunting of Verdansk adds night modes to event maps, zombie battle royale, scavenger hunts, and much, much more.

Minecraft Dungeons Spooky Fall Halloween Event

Spooky Fall is coming to Minecraft Dungeons from October 26 until November 3 with challenges and rewards galore.

Seasonal Trials are summoning up ghoulish mobs for players to take on. If that weren't spoopy enough, the event turns down the lights with Night Mode — but only until the event ends.

Completing the Season Trials earns exclusive seasonal weapons and gear, whether Night Mode is enabled or not.

Elder Scrolls Online Halloween — Witches Festival 2021

Elder Scrolls Online's annual Halloween Witches Festival is back once more with double XP and plenty of treats to go around. ESO's 2020 Witches Festival runs from October 22 at 10 a.m. EST through November 3 at the same time.

If this is your first time taking part, you'll need to complete "The Witchmother's Bargain" quest from the Crown Store and earn the Witchmother's Whistle item. If you already have it, just select it from your collections to get started.

Using the Whistle kicks off a two-hour period of bonus XP, but there's a lot more.

Players can earn new mementos, furnishings, and Dremora and Hollowjack-themed items through Plunder Skulls earned in battle.

Bosses drop Dremora Plunder Skulls with extra goods, including treasure maps and pages for the Grave Digger weapon style.

Overwatch Junkenstein 2020

Overwatch's Halloween Terror 2020 event, aka Junkenstein 2020, is live now through November 3, bringing the Junkenstein's Revenge Brawl back alongside new skins and more.

Baptiste and Ashe are added to the brawl mix as playable characters this year, and there are weekly challenges to take on to earn new skins.

Overcooked! 2's Halloween celebration isn't technically Halloween-themed. It's in honor of harvest and autumn celebrations throughout eastern Asia, but it's fall-ish, so it works.

Better yet, it's a free update with no end time, and the content will appear in Overcooked! All You Can Eat for next-gen consoles.

Overcooked! 2's Moon Harvest Festival introduces new kitchens themed around water and lily pad obstacles. There are five new levels total, plus three succulent-looking mooncakes to add to the menu.

Doom Eternal Halloween 2020

Doom Eternal's Halloween 2020 event is pretty straightforward. Until October 29, log in every day, complete campaign missions to earn XP, play Battlemode, and complete weekly challenges to unlock skins. Challenges refresh every Thursday.

Dragalia Lost — Postmortem Panic

Dragalia Lost's Halloween event for 2020 is Postmortem Panic, a series of increasingly difficult challenges with a slew of rewards. It's live from October 12 at 2 a.m. through October 19 at the same time, but the event rewards can be claimed until October 26 at 1:59 a.m.

Postmortem Panic divides its missions by difficulty. Completing all the challenges at one tier earns battle charts and stratagems for unlocking the next level of quest.

Some of these are special dragon battle challenges, pitting adventurers against the toughest of foes like Astral High Mercury.

Victory earns wind and water tomes to unlock new skills for certain characters, while completing quests earns primal crystals used for treasure trading.

Splatoon 2 Halloween Splatfest — Splatoween

Splatoon 2 is hosting a Halloween Splatfest called Splatoween, where the Tricks face off against the Treats. The special Splatfest kicks off on October 30 at 6 p.m. EST/3 p.m. PST and runs through November 1 at 5 p.m. EST/2 p.m. PST.

During the event, players can get their tentacles on some Halloween Splatoon 2 gear, including:

Star Citizen: Alpha 3.11 High Impact and Halloween

Star Citizen's Alpha 3.11 update includes a bounty of additions, and among them is Star Citizen's first-ever Halloween event. It kicked off earlier this month and runs through Halloween on October 31.

During the event, players can earn Halloween helmets and a special Day of the Vara Cutlass skin. There's a cosplay competition and even a pumpkin carving contest with plenty of "sweet prizes" in store for those who take part.

Borderlands 3 Halloween — Bloody Harvest Returns

Borderlands 3's Bloody Harvest Halloween event is back for October 2020. The ghoulish festivities run through November 5, and it's easier than ever to get your hands on some sweet, ghastly gear.

To kick things off, head to Sanctuary III, and speak with Maurice. Maurice tasks you with collecting Hecktoplasm from haunted enemies, easily spotted by their ghostly green glow.

Defeating haunted enemies spawns specters you'll need to defeat as well, and that's when you finally get ahold of Hecktoplasm.

After collecting enough of Hecktoplasm, Maurice opens the gate to Heck, where you can chat with Captain Haunt to access a number of quests, through which you'll earn Bloody Harvest items and cosmetics.

This year, the Bloody Harvest quests are less demanding than before, making it easier to get loot.

Destiny 2: Festival of the Lost 2020

Destiny 2 brings back the Festival of the Lost and the Haunted Forest for 2020, with new weapons, triumphs, armor sets, and cosmetics for Exotics to celebrate the spookiest season of the year. Festival of the Lost 2020 is free for all Destiny 2 players and runs from October 6 through November 3. 

Festival of the Lost 2020 adds new perk rolls for the Braytech Werewolf and Horror Story, plus new sets for a few classes:

On the official Festival of the Lost blog post, Bungie provided more information on the Halloween event. The Spider is a new NPC that gives players Cipher Decoders that unlock special chests at the end of The Haunted Forest. The chests are worth pursuing because they contain Legendary items specific to the Festival of the Lost. 

Rounding things out, there are new Sparrow skins available, as well as festival masks and vanity items for various armor sets, including broomsticks and witch hats. 

Resident Evil Resistance October Update

Resident Evil Resistance has a big October update in store, which is basically a Halloween update without actually being called a Halloween update.

Jill Valentine joins the ranks of the Survivors, with powerful weapons and her characteristic dodge mechanic from Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake. And as is only fitting, Nemesis itself is a playable Mastermind for the first time. Players control Nemesis through playing as Nicholai, another new Mastermind.

The Prison is a new map added in RE Resistance's October update, and the Uptown Raccoon City and Bemusement Park maps get a remix with new layouts.

Finally is a slew of new costumes and weapon skins, Survivors' perks and customizable abilities, and Mastermind traps.

Grounded October Update

Grounded’s October update adds ziplines and more to the survival game, including some Halloween-themed items. The initial announcement is relatively light on details, but players can expect decorations, recreational items, and doodads to use with friends. These include harvestable Candy Corn and a new landmark in the Frankenline, which is described as "a creepy discarded Etch-a-Sketch you can actually draw on."

Aside from washing The Backyard in a spooky glow, the October update for Grounded does a lot on the backend as well, including fixing a handful of bugs, fine-tuning combat, and unlocking new perks. You can see the full patch notes here. 

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath — All Hallows' Eve

Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath is getting some Halloween goodness with the All Hallows’ Eve character skin pack. It’s available now and is free for Aftermath owners. Those who haven’t upgraded to Aftermath yet would need to purchase the expansion, which also unlocks the Summer Heat and Femme Fatale packs from earlier in 2020. 

Mortal Kombat 11’s All Hallows’ Eve skin pack trailer highlighted three of the included skins. One is the “Blizzard King” outfit for Sub-Zero, and then there’s the part-werewolf part-school spirit “Beast Within” skin for Johnny Cage. Then there’ “Bad Medicine” for D’Vorah, turning the Kytinn fighter into a spidery nurse from hell. 

It’s not certain if Warner Bros. is adding anything else to Mortal Kombat 11’s Halloween event, but we’ll update if something new turns up.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Halloween

The Halloween fun isn’t limited to New Horizons, as Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp celebrates spooky season in its own way. The 2020 Pocket Camp Halloween event features a number of special activities with ghoulish treats on offer for those who complete certain goals.

Jack comes around and demands sweet treats. Hand over bat-themed lollipops to get bat furniture as a reward, and plant pumpkins during the month’s Garden Event to nab hatbats. Jack offers exclusive items such as mystical pumpkins in return.

Taking part in the October Fishing Tourney nets some goodies as well, with potion-themed furniture on offer every time players reach a size goal with the fish they catch.

Then there’s a fright night gyroidite scavenger hunt, new Happy Home classes and challenges, wall and carpet sets, special cookie items and more. The Pocket Camp Halloween and October events are live now.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Halloween

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Halloween update is available to download for free now, and it’s bringing more than just the Czar of Halloween to the island. 

Animal Crossing patch 1.5 paves the way for Halloween by adding Candy as an item players can purchase from the Nooklings’ store and pumpkins as growable DIY fodder.

The patch 1.5 trailer shows players planting, watering, and harvesting at least four different pumpkin varieties and then using them in various Halloween-themed DIY recipes.

On Halloween night (October 31), Jack himself visits the island. It’s not clear yet what he requires of the player, but all the residents will be lurking about, asking for Candy and showing off their costumes.

The patch adds new skin tone options for players to look their creepy best as well. We’ll update with more information about what New Horizons Halloween brings to the table as it becomes available.

Monster Hunter: World Iceborne — Fun Fright Fest

Capcom’s brewing up a special Monster Hunter: World Iceborne Halloween event called the Fun Fright Fest, part of the hefty Title Update 5. It runs from October 15 at 8 p.m. EST through November 5 at the same time and is exclusive to the expansion.

The Autumn Harvest Fest is returning to the base Monster Hunter: World game, but Capcom hasn’t said much about it yet.

Fun Fright Fest (starting at 7:06 in the above trailer) sees the Seliana Gathering Hub decked out with spooky furnishings, and the handler dons a Cute Demoness outfit to celebrate the occasion. There are two special ticket types to collect during the event and trade in for loot: the Fun Fright Ticket and the VIP Fun Fright Ticket. 

The former get doled out as daily login bonuses for the MHW Halloween event and can be used to craft armor with Decoration slots. Players can exchange the latter for in-game decorations and Layered Armor, but these are only available as random item drops. Both ticket types can be exchanged for Melding Tickets too.

There’s at least one new set of armor coming to the Fun Fright Fest, Demon Lord Alpha+. Wearing pieces of this armor set increases the chance of getting VIP Fun Fright Tickets.

Capcom may reveal more about Monster Hunter: World Iceborne’s Fun Fright Fest as the start date approaches, and we’ll update if that happens.

Killing Floor 2: Infernal Insurrection

It wouldn’t be Halloween without Killing Floor 2’s annual Halloween celebrations, and 2020 is no different. This year’s Halloween event is Killing Floor 2: Infernal Insurrection, and it brings treats galore, including new weapons, maps, and cosmetics.

Infernal Insurrection’s new map is Hallmark Station, a twisted take on London’s famous King’s Cross Station. Hallmark Station has been overrun by zeds, of course, and players must team up with fellow mercenaries to take down the demonic threat. Hellmark Station includes Survival, Endless, and Weekly modes.

Two new HRG weapons make their debut in Killing Floor 2’s Halloween event.

• HRG Scorcher (Firebug class bonus) — a flare gun that marks targets by setting them on fire

• HRG Arc Generator (Survivalist class bonus) — fires EMP blasts in short bursts or powerful charges

From now until November 10, Killing Floor 2 is also introducing a number of Halloween events, objectives, bonuses, and cosmetics.

October 2020 is upon us, which means it's time for scary movies, The Simpsons Tree House of Horror, and Halloween events in all our favorite video games! While we're still on announcements from Overwatch and Apex Legends, games like Killing Floor 2, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and MHW already have their in-game-event plans laid out for the spooky season.

From new weapons and outfits to new DIY recipes and Palico Halloween costumes, there are plenty of tricks, and even more treats, in store for the witching month. 

Games that haven't announced Halloween plans yet likely will in the coming weeks, and we'll update this list of Halloween events when that happens. Be sure to bookmark this and check back throughout October!

Monster Hunter: World Iceborne's final free content expansion, Title Update 5, drops September 30. It's a hefty addition to the game, bringing a new dragon to hunt called Fatalis, plus new quests, armor, and more.

Fatalis is a legendary dragon you can only fight after completing both Iceborne's story and the Alatreon investigation (and we can help with the Alatreon fight, if you're stumped). Fatalis lurks in Castle Schrade, and it's recommended to use the Dragonator and cannons to bring this beast down.

Defeating Fatalis unlocks several new Fatalis gear sets, including weapons, alpha and beta armor, and, of course, Palico armor.

The Arch-Tempered Velkhana event quest will be available for a limited time, though Capcom hasn't announced the schedule yet.

Title Update 5 also sets the stage for October's Fun Fright Fest and introduces a number of quality of life improvements, from bug fixes to new music and the Clutch Claw Boost to make fights against certain monsters easier.

This is the last big Monster Hunter: World Iceborne update, though that's not too surprising with Monster Hunter: Rise on the horizon.

Alatreon is by far the hardest monster yet in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, and many players have had a lot of trouble beating it. But with the help of our guide you will learn how to finally beat Alatreon.

Alatreon becomes available during the Blazing Black Twilight quest, which unlocks after the Safi'jiiva quest. Talk to the Third Fleet master at Seliana and start this quest at the Special Assignments menu.

How to Beat Alatreon in MHW: Iceborne

Strengths and Weaknesses

Alatreon is an elemental monster, which means that you will need to bring weapons capable of dishing out solid elemental damage.

Since there are two events connected to this quest, which you must prepare for:

• Evening Star — Alatreon is resistant to fire, which makes him weak to ice.
• Death Star — Alatreon begins the fight buffed against ice, which makes him weak to fire.

He is also completely immune to traps, so forget about them.

During the fight, Alatreon will switch his elemental resistance from fire to ice and vice versa. So you will need to regularly switch weapons and elements. 

Also, be prepared to counter Alatreon's supernovae, Escaton Judgement, using Aster Jerky and other health boosting items.

Best Skills, Weapons, and Armor

Besides stacking on elemental items beforehand, such as elemental weapons and armor, it is also important to level up several essential skills before heading into the fight:

• Defensive skills: Health Boost, Stun Resist, Blight Resist.
• Offensive skills: Agitator, Partbreaker.

The four best types of elemental weapons against Alatreon are:

• Dual Blades
• Insect Glaive
• Sword and Shield
• Bow

The three best armor sets for elemental protection are:

• Teostra
• Safi'Jiiva
• Raging Brachy

Combat Tips and Tricks

As soon as the fight begins, try to deal as much elemental damage as possible. Why? Because the more elemental damage you can deal from the get-go, the less damaging his Escaton Judgement attack will be. You will get a screen pop-up letting you know whether you debuffed the attack or not.

Between fire and ice forms, Alatreon will activate dragon form, which is the only window when you can break Alatreon's horns. Don't miss this opportunity!

After, Alatreon will begin Escaton Judgement. If you've done well in both previous phases, you will be able to heal through it; if not, then there is a chance that you will die regardless of your healing attempts.

These three cycles — elemental form (fire or ice), dragon form, and supermove — repeat one after another until the end of the fight.

Rewards

Once the dragon is dead, he will drop the following items:

• Alatreon Pallium
• Alatreon Mantle
• Alatreon Riptalon
• Alatreon Direwing
• Alatreon Diretail

You can use these to craft Alatreon weapons and armor, which provides excellent protection from fire and ice elemental damage.

Long, long ago, Capcom announced that Monster Hunter was getting a big Hollywood film adaptation. And while it's still in the works, the Monster Hunter movie joins the long line of other films that have been delayed, with Paramount pushing the Monster Hunter movie release date to April 23, 2021.

The news comes from an insider scoop Deadline's Anthony D'Alessandro has on the film's production and Paramount's lineup plans.

Paramount originally planned a Labor Day weekend 2020 release for the Monster Hunter movie. According to D'Alessandro's sources, though, Paramount doesn't want to compete with its A Quiet Place 2, also set for a September 4 release date.

Another potential reason is one we've come to expect since March: potential scheduling problems arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. D'Alessandro says Los Angeles may be shutting down again soon, which means major movie theaters will remain closed for at least an additional month or so. That's hardly an ideal condition to debut any film under.

At least we have a vague idea of what to expect from the Monster Hunter movie, though. Milla Jovovich of Resident Evil fame (or infamy, depending on who's talking) stars as Lieutenant Artemis, leader of a squad transported to a strange world full of... well, full of monsters.

Hopefully, the Monster Hunter movie doesn't pull an Uncharted and end up with a release schedule more fluid than Alatreon's elemental changes. We'll keep tracking it, so stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Monster Hunter movie news as it comes our way.

The latest Monster Hunter: World Iceborne update, version 14.0, is set to launch July 9. Ahead of that, Capcom's development team released a new MH World dev diary outlining what we can expect, including new monsters like Frostfang Barioth and the return of Alatreon.

Alatreon is back from Monster Hunter 3 and gets its own quest in Iceborne. More importantly, it brings a whole new set of Alatreon armor to modify your hunter in some unique ways. You'll need to finish Iceborne's main storyline first. After that, speak with the Third Fleet Master to kick off the Alatreon quest.

Once you find the elder dragon, you're in for quite a fight as well. Alatreon switches between fire, ice, thunder, and dragon elements, unleashing a powerful shockwave each time. Its weak points and attack patterns change with each element as well, so you'll need to stay on your toes.

Once you've claimed victory, you'll get elements used for crafting Monster Hunter World's Alatreon armor. Apart from looking pretty badass, the Alatreon armor also boosts your elemental attack power as you increase the corresponding elemental resistance.

The other big new addition coming with Monster Hunter: World Iceborne's update is Frostfang Barioth is an icy variant of the usual Barioth added in a 2019 update. With this one, you'll need to pay attention to positioning more than ever, since Frostfang Barioth uses ranged attacks that can freeze you in place or restrict your movement.

Frostfang Barioth is only found as part of an upcoming event quest. You'll need to be at least MR 24 and head to Hoarfrost Reach to hunt the tempered monster. If you're successful, you'll get access to another new bit of hunter gear. Best of all, you only need one piece to unlock the armor's special skill: Punishing Draw. Punishing Draw adds stun abilities to your draw attacks. If you get the whole set, though, you'll unlock Slugger Secret, which may grant stun bonuses to any weapon.

Finally, the new Monster Hunter World developer diary touched on an upcoming seasonal event: The Sizzling Spice Fest is a "carnival-like" festival celebrating food, namely meat. Lots of meat. Everywhere. And you'll get a number of new outfits for your trouble as well.

Capcom plans on releasing multiple new titles and push its back catalog in the coming year as part of its continued revival of all things old-school. The news comes from Capcom's 2019 fiscal results summary, where the makers of Resident Evil outline how they plan to achieve these goals.

The big takeaway here is that Capcom hopes for 28 million unit sales (individual purchases, in non-business-speak) by the end of March 2021. Publishing multiple, major new titles is one method the software giant plans on using, but remaining flexible with pricing and "pursuing ongoing sales" from previous titles is another.

Obviously, Capcom didn't say what these new titles are, but it's pretty reasonable to expect Resident Evil 8 among major new announcements. With dinosaurs rampaging back into popularity, we might get lucky and see a Dino Crisis resurgence, too. And as always here lately, all this hinges on what affects the coronavirus and work-from-home statutes have on development.

The report did say Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Resident Evil 2 factor into Capcom's plans for leveraging its back catalog, and that could be interesting in itself.

Further down, Capcom presents a little diagram showing how it views its business structure. 75% of its focus is on new software, while the remaining 25% is about expanding the IP through merchandise and adaptations. That's followed by a little spiral diagram showing how the model plays out with Monster Hunter. Capcom builds on the success of a new game, like World, with mobile spinoffs, events, concerts, expansions, and even movies.

Whether we can expect the same for titles like Resident Evil 2 isn't clear, and some of these — like the concerts and cafe collaborations — are definitely Japan-only. Either way, in between Capcom's major releases, we can expect continued and ongoing support for its already-released hits.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is finally getting its first simultaneous PC and console update next month, and with it comes new Master Rank fights for hunters to take on to test their skills.

Launching on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on April 23, the next Monster Hunter World: Iceborne update is finally bringing Kulve Taroth up to date with a new Master Rank quest to take down the Elder Dragon for great rewards.

That's not the only Elder Dragon players will have to face in Master Rank with this upcoming patch, though.

Arch-tempered Namielle will be added to the game as well, and it will prove to be a huge challenge for players of all skill levels.

Both of these Master Rank-level fights offer parts for new gear sets that nearly look cooler than the monsters themselves The flashiest gear is suited to the best of hunters, of course!

Check out the trailer above and keep farming for those elusive attack decorations to prepare, because you're going to need them on patch day in a  mere nine days on April 23.

Update: Capcom has now revealed that Raging Brachydios and Furios Rajang will be coming to Monster Hunter World: Iceboren on March 23 for consoles. However, the developer did not confirm an exact release date for PC. Currently, it is still slated for an April release.

Your trials in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne aren't over just yet. Next month PS4 and Xbox One players will be able to take on Raging Brachydios and Furios Rajang in the game's next big content update.

Both monsters promise to bring some hefty challenge to the ranks of Iceborne, which already pushes Monster Hunter World's hunters to their limits.

Though the trailer shows little of Furious Rajang, it looks seriously pissed off and ready to slap you to the ground. We see a lot more of Raging Brachydios, which appears to put hunters' dodging and telegraphing abilities through the gauntlet to dodge its wide-range lava attacks.

Don't be discouraged if you're playing on PC and don't want to wait to take these two monsters to task — PC Monster Hunter World: Iceborne players will be able to fight these two monsters when the update launches in April for Steam and March for consoles.

That's not the best news, though: once this update hits PC, both versions of the game will be updated simultaneously. PC MHW players will no longer have to wait months to play content that console players have had access to for months. We knew it was coming, and it's a relief it's so soon after Iceborne's PC launch.

Of all the monsters in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, Rajang stands among the toughest of monsters, rivaling any of the high-end Master Rank monsters in its ferocity.

Rajang is relentless, deals incredible damage, and moves with a quickness almost unmatched across all of Monster Hunter World. No surprise, then, that his weapons and armor are some of the best in the game, let alone the Iceborne expansion.

Below, I outline everything you need to know about taking on this great ape, including tips on how to beat him and a rundown of his attacks. 

How to Unlock Rajang in Monster Hunter: World Iceborne

Complete Icborne's main story and unlock the Guiding Lands. Then speak to the Admiral in Seliana. He'll add the "Sterling Pride" quest to your quest list. It tasks you with slaying a Master Rank Kirin in the Hoarfrost Reach. 

Here's a guide on how to unlock and defeat Kirin if you need help or don't already know how. 

Kirin's demise grants you the second and final quest in the Rajang questline: "Reveal Thyself, Destroyer." Head to the Guiding Lands for a short walk and a couple of epic cutscenes. Your first major encounter with the ape himself will follow after.

Eat before starting this quest. You can't eat in this quest until you meet Rajang proper. You can use a Farcaster once the cutscene plays and eat as usual, but if you're worried about timing, better to play it safe.

Rajang's Attacks

Rajang is in his first form when his fur isn't yellow. Because Rajang uses the same attacks across his three forms, you can use his normal state as a way to learn his patterns, hitboxes, and recovery windows.

Below is a list of each attack and how you can use each to your advantage.

Charge 

Rajang has two primary charge attacks. Neither has much windup, and neither does much damage. You'll know the attacks are coming when the beast leans back on its hind legs for a few seconds. A simple dodge to the side is usually enough to avoid either charge.

You won't have any opportunities for damage after a charge, so set up for whatever attack he uses next.

Grab

Rajang will open up one of his paws and swipe in a broad arc in front of him, and once he does, he'll grab you and slam you into the ground. You'll be stunned for about 30 seconds. The odds are he'll then saunter up to you and slam a fist directly into your chest, sending you back to camp in a cart if no one's around to help.

Recovery here is a couple of seconds long, and if you're in a group, you can still damage him while he's in the animation. Just don't expect your teammate to last very long.

Spin

A variant charge, Rajang will put both arms to one side and start spinning across the arena, dealing knockback and moderate damage. There's not much recovery. The attack happens fast, so it's likely that you'll get hit. 

Five Swings

Rajang will wind up with either fist and take five or six sideways punches at you. The hitbox for each swing lingers until the next one starts and can connect behind and to the side of the monster if you're close.

Each swing will also propel Rajang forward a short distance, and there is a brief recovery window at the end of the attack, specifically on the tail. You'll need to be quick, as Rajang isn't a fan of people behind him, but most light attacks are doable.

Regular Slam

After rearing up on his hind legs, Rajang slams the ground in front of him, dealing moderate damage and causing a knockdown. Even if you don't take the hit directly, you'll be crawling on all fours for several seconds, leaving yourself open to further ape attacks. 

The recovery window here is short, but his tail — a rare crafting material — is open for damage.

Mega Slam

Though it's rare in his first form, Rajang is still capable of his mega slam at any point in the fight. There's much more windup to this attack, where he'll stand on his legs and get ready to jump into the air. Once above you, he'll likely be out of your field of view, and about a second later will hit the ground with incredible force.

This attack does massive damage and will send you flying. If you're at about 2/3 health, prepare for a cart back to camp. Thankfully, the impact takes a lot out of Rajang. Should you avoid a hit, take the opportunity to attack his arms or legs or go for a big damage combo.

Air Blast

The other powerful attack in Rajang's arsenal is where he jumps backward and expels a ball of electrical energy from his mouth. There's a brief windup, but once you've seen the attack once, you'll know when it's coming. The energy ball explodes when it connects with the ground, creating a shockwave proportionate to the size of the energy ball. 

In his first form, both ball and explosion are relatively small, but in later attacks, it covers a wide area and can one-shot unprepared hunters. Run and dodge diagonally toward Rajang when he uses this attack, as the recovery window here is generous. 

Also note: Rajang reverts to his base form if he uses this attack while enraged.

Barrel Roll

This is the final aerial attack Rajang uses. It is a fast jump-into-slam has a tiny hitbox, so a simple roll-forward is enough to avoid it. Speed is the main factor here, as neither its windup nor the actual attack takes more than a second or so.

Like his other jumping attacks, however, Rajang does have to stand on his legs to start. The animation for starting this attack is also fairly distinctive, as he'll begin curling himself into a ball before he even makes it airborne. He'll end up behind you once the animation completes, and there isn't much recovery, so make ready for his next attack.

Mouth Laser

Last but not least, Rajang's breath weapon: the Dragon Ball Z-esque mouth laser. The damage for this attack isn't super high, and if you dodge it, you have a huge opportunity to put in some attacks of your own. 

Rajang will prepare for his version of the Kamehameha by hopping into a stable stance and bracing against the ground, followed shortly by releasing the energy from his mouth. It can hit you twice if you get up inside the beam, but because the attack's tell is so clear, you shouldn't have much trouble quickly dodging out of the way.

Rajang's Forms

Rajang has three forms, but he'll spend the majority of his time in only two: base and enraged.

Rajang Base Form

Rajang's base form has no electrical charge, and his fur isn't bright yellow. Attacks here do moderate damage at best, and as with any un-enraged monster, they're slower to come out and less frequent. He's less liable to use his bigger moves, too, sticking to punches, charges, and his uncharged jumping attacks.

Rajang Enraged Form

Rajang's enraged form sees him charging his fur with electricity. He'll be much more aggressive, more liable to use lasers and high-damage attacks, and he'll take more to knockdown. Rajang's recovery windows also shrink while enraged, so you'll need to take more care when dealing damage.

Rajang Rampage Mode

The third form is called rampage mode and sees our monster taking his aggression to the next level. His attacks will deal maximum damage, recovery windows shrink further, and he becomes much more mobile, jumping and dodging at every opportunity. 

The biggest difference about rampage mode is in Rajang's arms. There are two key things to know about this form:

1. No amount of sharpness will pierce the hide on his arms
2. Even the largest weapons will deal minimal damage and bounce almost harmlessly off, leaving you with a weaker weapon and open to attack.

You can't even tenderize Rajang's arms in this state, as the invulnerability takes precedence.

Attacking Rajang's tail puts him out of rampage mode more quickly, but if you're alone, you'll be hard-pressed to keep track of the tail. Best to go for his head and legs until he's calmed down.

Final Notes on Rajang in Monster Hunter: World Iceborne

While the above tips outline pretty much everything you need to know about one of the game's hardest monsters, there are a few small considerations to keep in mind about Rajang, whether in single-player or multiplayer co-op.

First, you won't be able to grapple onto his head with the Clutch Claw. You grapple his arms instead. The effects are the same for launching and tenderizing, but you won't be able to weaken his head.

Second, he's somewhat resistant to traps, so you'll need to be quick with your Tranq Bombs. He isn't an elder dragon, thankfully, so you can capture him. 

Third, Rajang will initially only appear in the Guiding Lands, but optional quests and investigations become available as you play further.

After finally arriving on PC in January, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is set see major new content additions starting February 6. That's when the mighty thunder ape Rajang arrives as a free content update for Iceborne on Steam.

To go after Rajang, aspiring hunters must meet with the Admiral in Seliana after completing the campaign and visiting the Guiding Lands. The teaser trailer above provides a good idea of what to expect from the update.

However, that's not the only new change coming to Iceborne, as a Capcom crossover is due to arrive later this month. In anticipation of the upcoming Resident Evil 3 remake, the long-running zombie series is about to invade Monster Hunter: World, letting players tackle zombies with Mr. X as their handler.

There's no confirmed start date for the Resident Evil/Iceborne crossover event, though we know it will come sometime in February.

The only weapon that hasn't been influenced by the Iceborne rebalancing is the Loyal Thunder heavy bowgun. It is undoubtedly the strongest single weapon in the game right now.

It is also one of the easiest weapons to use, as all you need to do is aim at a monster and shoot. The rest will take care of itself.

It can be upgraded from the Mightning + bowgun, which can be crafted with the help of the Zinogre monster parts:

• 5x Spiritvein Solidbone
• 2x Zinogre Hardhorn
• 3x Zinogre Deathly Shocker
• 1x Large Elder Dragon Gem
• 80000x Zenny

Tier A Weapons

Golden Crescent

• Attack Power: 1015
• Affinity: 15%
• Element Damage: Poison 330
• Phial Type: Power

If your primary weapon is a switch axe, then you're probably already running the Golden Crescent in your build. It has a high poison damage and absolutely massive attack power and Phial damage.

It is recommended you decorate it with Enhancer Jewel 2, which will improve the Power Prolonger skill and make Golden Crescent twice as powerful when charged up.

This switch axe can be upgraded from Dragonmaiden axe by using the following items:

• 3x Gold Rathian Surspike x3
• 5x Gold Rathian Shard x5
• 4x Gold Rathian Cortex x4
• 1x Rath Gleam x1
• 80000x Zenny

Grinding Mallet

• Attack Power: 1508
• Affinity: 0%
• Element Damage: Paralysis 330

The biggest advantage of the Grinding Mallet hammer is its ability to reach purple sharpness at Handicraft +5. This will instantly increase its already highly potent damage output to enormous proportions.

This weapon can be crafted by slaying two types of monsters: Acidic Glavenus and Vaal Hazak. The full recipe is as follows:

• 2x Vaal Hazak Hardclaw 
• 4x Acidic Glavenus Hardfang 
• 3x Acidic Glavenus Spineshell 
• 1x Glavenus Mantle 
• 56000x Zenny

Luna Eostre

• Attack Power: 1044
• Affinity: 10%
• Element Damage: Poison 420
• Phial Type: Impact

The latest update gave this amazing charge blade an attack and a health augmentation slots, which makes it possible to balance out all the heavy survival builds of the current meta.

There is also no better weapon for impact phial damage, so if you wish to craft it, then you will need to upgrade the Dear Rose blade with the following items:

• 3x Gold Rathian Surspike
• 5x Gold Rathian Shard
• 4x Gold Rathian Cortex
• 1x Rath Gleam
• 80000x Zenny

Wyvern Blade Luna

• Attack Power: 957
• Affinity: 10%
• Element Damage: Poison 420

Longswords are some of the best melee weapons in the game, and Wyvern Blade Luna is the best of them all due to its sheer raw damage.

It already has purple sharpness and 10% affinity, which isn't hard to push to a full 100% for the highest critical damage in the game.

You can craft this amazing longsword by slaying Gold Rathian monster and upgrading Wyvern Blade Blossom with:

• 3x Gold Rathian Surspike
• 5x Gold Rathian Shard
• 4x Gold Rathian Cortex
• 1x Rath Gleam
• 80000x Zenny

Tier B Weapons

Blackwing Bowgun II

• Attack Power: 351
• Affinity: 25%
• Deviation: Average
• Custom Mods: 4
• Special Ammo: Wyvernblast

Here is a fantastic light bowgun for some fun Rapid Sticky or Rapid Pierce builds that you most definitely won't regret playing.

This weapon is best utilized alongside another poisonous weapon that can slow down a monster, which you can shoot and finish off with Blackwing Bowgun II.

The crafting recipe of this great weapon is the following:

• 3x Scratched Shell 
• 2x Garuga Fellwing 
• 3x Fancy Beak 
• 1x Large Wyvern Gem 
• 56000x Zenny

Ruinous Perdition

• Attack Power: 667
• Affinity: 0%
• Element Damage: Dragon 360
• Elderseal: High

Ruinous Perdition may not be the prettiest looking lance in the game, but it definitely is the most powerful one.

It is mostly used in exceptionally tanky builds of the Iceborne meta with such decorations like Tenderizer, Guardian/Expert Jewel 4, Guardian/Physique Jewel 4, Vitality Jewel, and Ironwall Jewel.

This lance can be upgraded from the Perdition's Hand lance and these crafting materials:

• 3x Annihilating Greathorn
• 4x Nergigante Hardclaw
• 5x Eternal Regrowth Plate
• 1x Large Elder Dragon Gem
• 80000x Zenny

Deathlance Vaal Spysa

• Attack Power: 575
• Affinity: 0%
• Element Damage: Dragon 510
• Shelling Type: Long
• Shelling Level: Lv 6

Gunlances are great weapons, because they can be equally well used against any type of monster regardless of the number of main weapons you're using.

Deathlance Vaal Spysa is arguably the best gunlance in Iceborne, especially when it is used in the healing tank shell with the Zorah armor set and such decorations like Shield Jewel 2 and Magazine Jewel 2.

You'll need to farm for some Vaal Hazak monster parts to be able to craft this gunlance:

• 3x Vaal Hazak Hardclaw 
• 2x Shadowpierce Fang 
• 5x Deceased Shard 
• 3x Deathweaver Membrane

Acid Shredder II

• Attack Power: 1392
• Affinity: 0%
• Element Damage: Paralysis 420

Here is the greatsword of all greatswords: an Acidic Glavenus weapon with paralysis damage.

Of course, it needs to be pushed to have white sharpness with the help of critical affinity boost, but that would be enough. Acid Shredder II will not benefit too much from Handicraft jewels, as the purple sharpness doesn't give it any more damage than it already has.

You can craft this massive greatsword with these materials:

• 2x Vaal Hazak Hardclaw
• 4x Acidic Glavenus Hardfang
• 3x Acidic Glavenus Spineshell
• 1x Glavenus Mantle

Following an unpleasant port to PC marred by save overwrite problems, heavy CPU usage issue, and an infinite loading bug, Monster Hunter: World Iceborne is finally starting to see smoother sailing. Notably, Capcom is aiming to bring the PC and console versions together for a title update sync later this year.

Following the launch of the Grand Appreciation Fest event on January 24, new content for the Steam edition of Iceborne will arrive in February with an additional monster and region.

On top of new variant monsters, an April title update will bring the two versions into alignment. At that point, PS4 and Xbox One players will receive events and patches at the same time as the PC crowd.

Capcom additionally launched a patch last week to work on various issues with the PC launch of Iceborne. If you are still experiencing slowdowns and heavy CPU usage with update 10.12.01, the developers currently recommend capping the frame rate to either 60 or 30 by navigating to Options -> Display -> Frame Rate.
