The Pokemon world has expanded yet again with the release of Scarlet and Violet, two new entries in the long-running series. The games feature new additions to the Pokedex, each with its own unique abilities and movesets. If you’re here, you’re looking for a list of all-new Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet.

All New Grass-Type Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet

Grass-type Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet are typically known for their incredible status condition capabilities and powerful offensive moves. Grass-type Pokemon are also known for their ability to drain their enemies’ health to heal their own.

With the right kind of moves and items, Grass-types can be extremely powerful and devastating to the opposition. Whether it be setting up field effects, supporting teammates, or dealing massive damage, Grass-types are a must-have for any serious trainer.

All New Fire-Type Pokemon

Fire-type Pokemon are notoriously strong, resilient creatures. Their fiery breath can be used to incinerate opponents, while their natural hardiness makes them difficult to bring down. These powerful creatures are often used in competitive battles for their strength and defensive capabilities, making them a sought-after asset in any trainer’s arsenal.

All New Water-Type Pokemon

Water-type Pokemon are some of the most popular creatures in Scarlet and Violet. They make up over 15% of all Pokemon species, making them the most abundant type.

Water-type Pokemon are some of the most resilient and hardy creatures in the game, as they are only weak against Grass and Electric moves. They are also capable of dealing massive amounts of damage with their powerful Water-type attacks.

All New Normal-Type Pokemon

Normal-type Pokemon are the second most abundant, coming in at a whopping 132 species. These Pokemon are one of the few types with the fewest weaknesses.

Normal-type is also the only type that is not super effective against any type. However, they are also the most versatile type, being able to learn a variety of moves and work well in teams.

All New Bug-Type Pokemon

Bug-type Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet have a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and abilities. They are also the type with the lowest base health. Bug-type Pokemon are known for their variety of poison attacks, which they can use to poison or paralyze their opponents.

All New Electric-Type Pokemon

Electric-type Pokemon are unique creatures that use electricity to attack. They are widely regarded as some of the fastest and most powerful Pokemon in the game due to their ability to shock opponents and paralyze them.

Electric-type is one of the few categories with the fewest weaknesses, with its weakness solely being to ground-type attacks. They are known for using moves like Thunderbolt, Volt Tackle, and Thunder to shock their opponents.

All New Fairy-Type Pokemon

Fairy-type Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet are magical creatures that have a variety of different characteristics. These Pokemon have the highest average Special defense in the game. They are often brightly colored, giving them a distinct appearance from other Pokemon.

Additionally, they typically have the ability to heal other Pokemon. These cotton candy-colored Pokemon are immune to Dragon-type attacks, making them the perfect counter to Dragon-type Pokemon.

All New Rock-Type Pokemon

Rock-type Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet are known for their hardy exteriors, making them very resilient to physical damage. They tend to be slow but have great defenses, allowing them to withstand a lot of punishment. These Pokemon also tend to have high HP and often learn moves like Rock Throw and Earthquake, making them powerful attackers. What really sets them apart from other types is their resistance to Fighting-type moves. 

Rock-type Pokemon are also known for their high Special Defense, allowing them to withstand a lot of powerful Special-type attacks like Thunderbolt and Psychic. All in all, Rock-type Pokemon are the perfect choice for any trainer looking for a reliable defense and strong attack capabilities.

All New Dark-Type Pokemon

Dark-type Pokemom is a species that has remarkable physical capabilities and special powers. They are known for their Immunity to Psychic-type attacks, making them a natural counter to Psychic-type Pokemon. However, this immunity can be bypassed by a move called Miracle Eye. They are also known for their attacks that have secondary effects like Assurance and Payback.

All New Psychic-Type Pokemon

Psychic-type Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet are renowned for their strong mental powers, signature moves, and special abilities. These Pokemon possess a wide range of psychic abilities, such as telepathy, psychokinesis, and clairvoyance. They can also use energy-based attacks to protect their allies and defeat their enemies.

Common characteristics of Psychic-type Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet include high Special Attack, strong Special Defense, quick speed, and a variety of special attacks. However, one glaring issue with Psychic-type attacks is the fact that they do not affect Dark-type Pokemon. However, this immunity may be bypassed by using Miracle Eye.

All New Steel-Type Pokemon

Steel-type Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet are a powerful category of Pokemon that have a variety of shared characteristics. They are especially strong against physical attacks and have high defense, special attack, and special defense stats. Steel-type Pokemon also often have a variety of resistances, such as being resistant to Dragon, Ice, Rock, Normal, Bug, Flying, Grass, Psychic, and Steel. They are completely immune to Poison-type moves. 

Because of their defensive capabilities, Steel-type Pokemon tend to be very difficult for opponents to take down. Additionally, many Steel-type Pokemon have special abilities that increase their strength in battle. Steel Pokemon are also the type with the highest Physical Defense, making them great for handling opponents that rely on Physical Attacks.

All New Ghost-Type Pokemon

Ghost-type Pokemon make up 6.94% of all Pokemon, making them the third-rarest type of Pokemon. These mysterious creatures have a wide range of Moves, from the ability to put you to sleep with Hypnosis to the ability to manipulate shadows with Shadow Ball. Common characteristics of Ghost-type Pokemon include possessed objects and floating ghosts. 

They are often found lurking in abandoned buildings, graveyards, and other places associated with death or the supernatural. They are known to be the least resisted type, only being resisted by Dark-type Pokemon and completely nullified by Normal-type.

All New Ice-Type Pokemon

Ice-type Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet are unique creatures that excel in both offense and defense. These Pokemon have thick fur coats, sharp claws, and powerful snow-based attacks that make them formidable foes. They are often found in cold climates such as mountains or icy wastelands. Common characteristics of Ice-type Pokemon include an affinity for snow, a high defensive stat, and generally low speed stats.

These Pokemon are often capable of using powerful ice-type moves, such as Ice Beam, Blizzard, and Avalanche. They are also capable of using various status-altering moves to help them in battle, such as Confuse Ray and Icy Wind. 

As a defense, Ice-type Pokemon can use moves like Light Screen and Reflect to protect themselves from damage. By combining their powerful attacks and defensive capabilities, Ice-type Pokemon can be incredibly formidable opponents in battle.

All New Dual-Type Pokemon

Dual-type Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet are Pokemon that belong to two types at once. They often have a combination of attacks from both types. Common characteristics of Dual-type Pokemon include having a unique appearance, being fairly powerful, and having an ability to resist most attacks thanks to their two types. They are typically larger and more powerful than their single-type counterparts. 

These Pokemon can also take on an even stronger form when exposed to certain conditions, such as Mega Evolution. Dual-type Pokemon provide a unique challenge for trainers and make training more interesting and engaging. As such, they are an important part of the Scarlet and Violet universe.  With their unique powers, Dual-type Pokemon are a great choice for those looking to add an extra layer of complexity and strategy to their team.
