There are opportunities to Light Speed Dash almost immediately in Sonic Frontiers, but how do you do it?

The Light Speed Dash has been a quintessential part of Sonic’s moveset through almost all of his 3D outings, and the same can be said for Sonic Frontiers. The game presents trails of rings to Light Speed Dash along very early on, but it’s not entirely clear when you’re able to do it.

Sonic is able to unlock several different skills to help his maneuvering and combat abilities through Sonic Frontiers, but the Light Speed Dash isn’t one of them. In fact, it’s available from the very start of the game, though you’d have to go through the options menu to find that out.

Light Speed Dash Explained

It shouldn’t be difficult to find a trail of rings you’re meant to Light Speed Dash through, since you can’t use the ability otherwise. To use this signature move, press the L3 button (PlayStation), LS button (Xbox), or Z key (PC) to speed through the line of rings.

This is the first time the skill has been bound to a stick press, so it’s understandable that many players don’t figure it out right away. It’s a valuable ability to bear in mind and use, though, and notably, it resets Sonic’s double jump. This is something you’ll want to remember when trying to clear some of Sonic Frontiers‘ challenges.

If you don’t like having it bound to a stick press, you can change your bindings in the Control Configuration options.
