If you're wondering how to unlock fast travel in Dying Light 2, this guide has everything you need to know about getting around Villedor by the Metro.

Dying Light 2 fast travel isn’t available from the start of the game. In fact, you’ll have to play through a good portion of the campaign before you can unlock it and start moving around the open world of Villedor without having to rely solely on your parkour traversal skills.

Fast travel is linked to Metro Stations spread across the map, as well as two Faction Hubs. Some territories and areas have them, while others don’t. Regardless of their locations, though, one is always nearby. This quick Dying Light 2 guide will tell you what you need to do to unlock the fast travel system.

Note: Because of how the fast travel system is related to the game’s story, some slight spoilers follow. For a complete list of Metro Stations, including a map, head over here for more.

How to Unlock Fast Travel in Dying Light 2

You unlock fast travel in Dying Light 2 after the main campaign mission A Place to Call Home. This happens after the power is restored in the Downtown area (southeast of Old Villedor) by activating the Electrical Station in the mission.

Once you arrive in the Central Loop, you’ll notice that the Trinity Metro Station, Downtown Metro Station, and Main Terminal Station (a PK Faction Hub) in Quarry End are highlighted green. That means they are now activated and available for fast travel. Eventually, you will also unlock two more Faction Hubs: one in the Wharf and one in New Dawn Park.

When you hover over the green Metro Station or Faction Hub icons on the Dying Light 2 map, a fast travel prompt will appear on the map itself. The prompt does not show up on the card that appears on the left side of the screen when you highlight the point of interest. You can also fast travel from the map terminals found in each Metro Station, though pulling up the primary map is easier.

You can fast travel from any location at any time save for the epilogue, which is the “point of no return” (don’t worry, you can still play after you beat the campaign).

How to Activate Metro Stations for Fast Travel

Before you can fast travel to different territories in Dying Light 2, you’ll have to unlock Faction Hubs through the story automatically and other Metro Stations by traveling to them on foot or with the paraglider. Metro Stations are activated by restoring their power.

In boroughs that either do not have an Electrical Station or in which you haven’t yet activated the area’s Electrical Station, you must manually activate the power to each Metro.

There is always a terminal behind a locked door that must first be flipped, then generators in the Metro Station basement that must be powered on. These “puzzles” are straightforward and have objective markers to follow. Each basement is set up exactly the same way, just with the generators in slightly different locations. There will always be chemicals, so be careful!

Those fast travel locations marked with a blue moon symbol and say to come back at night contain zombies/Infected and act similarly to Dark Hollows and GRE Quarantine Zones. Any others are occupied by Renegades and can be taken during the day or night.

You can’t fast travel while in combat or when your immunity is low.

And that’s all you need to know about fast travel in Dying Light 2. It’s a relatively uncomplicated process, but activating it takes time and isn’t available until almost halfway through the game. For more tips, consider heading over to our DL2 guides hub
