Doom Eternal Launch Trailer: Fast, Furious, and Knee Deep in the Dead

We already knew that Doom Eternal will make you feel like a badass, but the game's latest gameplay trailer cements it.

Doom Eternal releases in a little more than a week. March 20, to be exact. In an effort to turn up the hype surrounding the game as if Doom Eternal wasn’t one of the most-anticipated games of 2020 already Bethesda and id Software dropped the game’s launch trailer just a tad early.

It’s peak Doom, with the Doom Slayer mercing demons and Hellspawn right and left. The BFG 9000 makes an early appearance, as does The Crucible and The Marauder. Aside from other pretty devastating weaponry, the trailer also shows off more of Doom‘s signature glory kills, as well as a few never-before-seen levels.

It’s not the most action-packed footage we’ve seen (our 15 minutes of hands-on footage takes the cake there), but it’s certainly more on-brand than the game’s recent TV spot. Don’t take our word for it, though. Check the trailer at the top of this article for yourself.

After spending three hours with Doom Eternal at a recent preview event, David Jagneaux said,Playing through the main story from start to finish looks like it will be a beefy undertaking in and of itself, but when you add in all of the upgrades and side content and extra challenges, it’s completely bewildering — and I mean that in the best way possible.”

Launching March 20 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia, Doom Eternal is currently up for pre-order. Luckily, both Bethesda and id Software have chosen not to load the game down with microtransactions, so there’s no pay-to-win mechanics or battle passes here.

Those playing Doom Eternal on PC will need a beefy rig to play the game on Ultra-Nightmare at 2160p 60FPS, though the specs for 2K and 1080p are more reasonable. All players, including those on console and PC, will be required to download a launch-day patch
