Roaming Form Gimmighoul is now in Pokemon GO, released as part of the celebrations surrounding Pokemon Day 2023. The tiny ghost ‘mon can be seen in its chest form in Scarlet & Violet currently, and you’ll need to connect your accounts to catch them. Here are the steps you need to take.
How to Catch Roaming Form Gimmighoul
Catching Roaming Form Gimmighoul starts with connecting your Pokemon GO account to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
- Start Scarlet or Violet.
- Go to the Pokemon Portal.
- Select Mystery Gift.
- Select “Connect to Pokemon GO“.
- Pair with a Pokemon GO account.
- Launch Pokemon GO on your mobile device.
- Navigate to settings.
- Scroll to Nintendo Switch.
- Select “Connect to Nintendo Switch”.
- Confirm “Yes” on your Nintendo Switch screen once paired.

Once you’ve paired Scarlet or Violet to Pokemon GO, there are only a couple more steps.
- On your Switch, navigate back to “Connect to Pokemon GO“.
- Go to your items in Pokemon GO.
- Navigate to “Postcard Book”.
- Pick any postcard and tap the three bars icon.
- Select “Send to Nintendo Switch”.
- Select “Send” and confirm twice.
You’ll receive a Coin Bag in your inventory. Go to your Coin Bag and open it. Once open, a special incense will activate that allows Roaming Form Gimmighoul to spawn.
You’ll be able to send a postcard and spawn the Coin Bag once a day. Sending a postcard will reset at midnight in your time zone, but a postcard can only be sent once.
How to Turn a PokeStop Golden
The Golden Lure Module can be used on a PokeStop to turn it golden. Golden PokeStops give more items, a chance to give Gimmighoul Coins, and can spawn Roaming Form Gimmighoul.
Some PokeStops may turn golden randomly, meaning there is no chance of finding a Roaming Form Gimmighoul there. To obtain a Golden Lure Module, you need to send postcards multiple times to Scarlet or Violet.
How to Get Gimmighoul Coins
Gimmighoul Coins are given throughout the event, with nine coins given for free in the shop. You can get Gimmighoul coins from any Golden PokeStop. They are given when you catch a Roaming Form Gimmighoul and are earned when you adventure with it as your buddy.
Once you earn 999 in Pokemon GO, you’ll be able to evolve your Roaming Form Gimmighoul into Gholdengo.
