To make the most of Forspoken‘s combat, you’ll likely want to invest in a bunch of different abilities and spells. Starting with one set of spells in a single magic type, Frey ultimately amasses four spell groups (purple magic, blue magic, red magic, and green magic) that offer different advantages and necessitate different playstyles. The guide below lists every ability in Forspoken, along with a description of what they do.

Complete Forspoken Spells and Abilities List

This spells and abilities list will be categorized by the different spell sets in the order through which they’re unlocked during the game, as well as their respective magic type colors. Within each magic set, abilities are further categorized by spell type, such as support, attack, and surge magic. 

Purple Magic

Also called Frey’s Magic, this magic type comprises the game’s beginning spell set. Its power is determined by the purple magic stat.

  • Bind
    • Spell type: Support. 
    • Description: Area of effect spell that tangles enemies up in weeds, rendering them incapable of moving or attacking. 
  • Tendril
    • Spell type: Support. 
    • Description: A whip that strikes enemies within a small radius around Frey. It restores health proportionate to the amount of damage dealt.
  • Disperse
    • Spell Type: Support. 
    • Description: Places a giant flower on the ground that flings rocks at enemies.
  • Leach
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Cures Frey’s poison status.
  • Screen
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Creates a barrier around Frey that blocks damage from enemy attacks.
  • Implant
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Projectile that deals damage to enemies over time, similar to poison.
  • Prime
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Places a trap on the ground that explodes when enemies step on it.
  • Burrow
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Scans the radius around Frey for items. Support magic regenerates depending on how many items are found by the scan. 
  • Genesis
    • Spell type: Surge magic.
    • Description: A ground slam that summons vines and barbed branches that deals damage over a large distance in front of Frey. The Level 2 variant of Genesis deals more damage with a wider area of effect. Genesis Level 3 poisons enemies when the spell input is held down longer. 
  • Shot
    • Spell type: Attack.
    • Description: This basic ranged attack shoots rocks at enemies.
  • Burst Shot
    • Spell type: Attack.
    • Description: Shoots larger lumps of rocks that deal area damage upon impact.
  • Shield Shot
    • Spell type: Attack.
    • Description: This charged shield has the power to knock foes back after being released. The Level 2 variant creates a larger shield with even more impact. The same boosts apply to Shield Shot Level 3. 
  • Scatter Shot
    • Spell type: Attack.
    • Description: Fires a steady stream of rocks like an assault rifle, before unleashing a single high-impact projectile. Scatter Shot levels two and three further increase the damage of the initial stream along with an even higher-impact projectile at the end.
  • Shimmy
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: Launches you forward when pressing the jump button upon landing on the ground.
  • Flow
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: This is the parkour system, letting Frey easily vault over smaller obstacles and run up walls. 
  • Leap
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: Lets Frey kick off of walls while running up them vertically, letting her climb up higher.
  • Skip
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: Frey enters a warp-like state, avoiding all damage while Frey is warping. 
  • Cut and Run 
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Decription: Summons a high impact area of effect blast, meanwhile switching to Frey’s magic set from any other spell set. 
  • Vivify
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous
    • Description: Passive ability that boosts the amount by which necklaces improve Frey’s health.
  • Modify
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: Lets you transform existing crafting materials into different material types.
  • Rarify
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: Lets you transform basic crafting materials into their more advanced iterations.

Red Magic

This set of spells is also called Sila’s Magic. It is Forspoken‘s second magic set, and the abilities here gain their strength from the red magic stat

  • Charge
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Frey charges forward, knocking enemies back upon impact. 
  • Fusillade
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Summons multiple swords engulfed in fire, which attack enemies while you charge up attack spells. 
  • Legion
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Summons multiple AI soldiers.
  • Aegis
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Removes attack and defense debuffs. 
  • Bombardier
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Kicks enemies back, causing them to explode when they land on the ground or hit another enemy.
  • Firetrap
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Summons a pool of lava, that remains on the battlefield for a period of time.
  • Crucible
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Casts an arena with its edges engulfed in flames. All attack damage within this arena is increased. 
  • Beacon
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Increases Frey’s stamina recovery rate at the expense of making her more noticeable to enemies.
  • Conflagration
    • Spell type: Surge magic.
    • Description: Summons a massive fiery column from the ground, continuing to deal damage over time due to the magma pool it leaves behind. The Level 2 variant deals more damage with a wider area of effect. Conflagration Level 3 extends further toward the left and right when the spell is charged longer. 
  • Slice 
    • Spell type: Attack.
    • Description: This is a basic sword attack that deals fire damage. 
  • Arc Slice
    • Spell type: Attack.
    • Description: This is a quick slice attack that damages enemies within its range, dealing more damage when performed mid-air at the expense of its range. The Level 2 variant widens the slice’s arc while unleashing a shockwave when performed mid-air. Arc Slice Level 3 further boosts these effects. 
  • Rage Slice
    • Spell type: Attack 
    • Description: This flurry of fier-infused fists culminates in an explosive force attack when the spell is released. The Level 2 variant deals more damage with the final impact producing even more force. Rage Slice Level 3 further boosts these effects. 
  • Blast Slice
    • Spell type: Attack.
    • Descripton: Frey tosses a spear that explodes shortly after impaling an enemy, damaging surrounding foes. Blast Slice deals more damage with a greater range when performed in the air. The Level 2 and Level 3 variants further boost these effects. 
  • Zip
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: Acts like a grappling hook, letting you latch onto ledges and specific obstacles at a distance.
  • Drag and Drop
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: Ranged attack that pulls enemies toward you meanwhile switching to Sila’s magic set from any other spell set. 
  • Amplify
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: Passive ability that boosts the amount by which a cloak can increase Frey’s magic. 
  • Soar
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: Frey can scale even higher when running up walls. 
  • Rush
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: Boosts the speed of Frey’s Flow ability when timing the proper input.

Green Magic

Olas’ magic benefits from the green magic stat. It is the third spell set you’ll unlock. 

  • Distortion
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Engulfs enemies in a hazy mist that deals damage while also confusing them enough to attack each other.
  • Suppression
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Makes Frey nearly invisible to enemies, cancelling out when making a sudden movement. 
  • Displacement
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Summons a copy of Frey that distracts enemies.
  • Sublimation
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Slowly heals minor damage over time by absorbing the surrounding area’s life force.
  • Compensation
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Surge magic regenerates more quickly when Frey avoids damage through the use of her parkour Flow ability. 
  • Aggression
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Shoots out multiple darts in an arc that tag enemies as targets for this set’s charged attack spells.
  • Projection
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Frey throws a spear that explodes upon impact, dealing electrical damage across the explosion’s area of effect. 
  • Compulsion
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Frey summons several mines that hover around, exploding the moment enemies attack them or get too close. 
  • Tempest
    • Spell type: Surge magic.
    • Description: Frey summons lightning, dealing major electric damage over a wide radius. Tempest Level 2 and three further increase the spell’s radius and damage. 
  • Dart
    • Spell type: Attack.
    • Description: This basic single-targeting attacks marks enemies as targets for this set’s various charge attack spells. 
  • Storm Dart
    • Spell type: Attack.
    • Description: This spell creates a radius around Frey, dealing minor damage over time until a shockwave is unleashed, dealing greater damage to any implanted targets as well as non-targeted foes within the area of effect. Storm Dart Level 2 and three deal even greater damage over an even wider area. 
  • Seeker Dart
    • Spell type: Attack.
    • Description: Emits bolts of lightning that seek out enemies with implanted darts. Seeker Dart Level 2 and three further increases this spell’s damage. 
  • Pulse Dart
    • Spell type: Attack.
    • Description: Shoots out beams of light that target enemies embedded with darts, dealing damage as the light beam passes through their bodies. Pulse Dart Level 2 and Level 3 deal even more damage.  
  • Hide and Seek
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: Frey zips around at lightning speed as she fires projectiles, switching to Olas’ magic set from any other set during the attack. 
  • Diversify
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: This ability lets you add a fourth upgrade to all necklaces.
  • Scale
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: Frey charges in place, launching high up in the air, once the spell is released. This can sometimes act as a replacement for scaling up walls with the Flow and Soar abilities. 
  • Spoof
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: Frey evades an attack, leaving a copy of herself on the battlefield in the process. 

 

Blue Magic

This final spell set, Prav’s Magic, gains its power from the blue magic stat.

  • Naedre
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Frey shoots out a snake-like projectile that homes in on an enemy, poisoning it once it makes contact. 
  • Maelstrom
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Frey summons a tornado comprised of water that deals damage while also acting as a shield to block against ranged attacks. 
  • Brume
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Kicks up a plume of dust that blinds enemies.
  • Eagre
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Creates a watter barrier around Frey, that pushes enemies back.
  • Ablution
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Cures the debuff that slows down Frey’s stamina recovery.
  • Inundation
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Increases Frey’s critical hit rate. 
  • Alb
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: This ability significantly reduces the amount of damage sustained from piercing and unblockable attacks. This only protects against a single attack per cast. 
  • Oubliette
    • Spell type: Support.
    • Description: Summons a huge ball of water that entraps enemies within. Attacking the water bubble leads to a huge explosion, dealing area of effect damage. 
  • Cataract
    • Spell type: Surge magic.
    • Description: Creates a water-infused vortex that sucks in nearby enemies while dealing damage. The Level 2 variant spawns additional water pillars to seek out and damage enemies. With Cataract Level 3, those water pillars can now freeze enemies. 
  • Bolt
    • Spell type: Attack.
    • Description: This basic ranged attack consists of balls of water that remain
  • Fan Bolt
    • Spell type: Attack.
    • Description:  Frey shoots out multiple arrows that are linked together, dealing damage across the entire area from end to end. Fan Bolt Level 2 and Level 3 deal even more damage. 
  • Chain Bolt
    • Spell type: Attack.
    • Description: Frey shoots an arrow while charging, followed by another arrow upon the spell’s release. Bonus damage is dealt if both arrows struck the same area. The Level 2 variant increases the spell’s base damage and bonus damage, however enemies can also now be paralyzed when dealing bonus damage. Chain Bolt Level 3 continues to deal extra base damage and bonus damage. 
  • Cluster Bolt
    • Spell type: Attack.
    • Description: Frey fires an arrow that breaks off mid-air, raining multiple water-infused bolts from above over a wide area. Cluster Bolt level two and three deal even more damage over a wider area. 
  • Up and Away
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: Frey leaps into the air while firing water-infused projectiles. This switches to Prav’s magic set from any other set. 
  • Glide
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: This parkour ability lets Frey surf along water surfaces
  • Fortify
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: This passive ability boosts the amount by which cloaks and necklaces can increase your defense. 
  • Float
    • Spell type: Miscellaneous.
    • Description: Pressing the jump input mid-air slows down Frey’s descent.
