This guide will provide you with tips on how to find and beat Primo Geovishap boss in Genshin Impact. You need a special team of heroes and learn a lot of attack patterns, but the abundance of rewards do make up for it all in the end.

Genshin Impact: Primo Geovishap Boss Location

Primo Geovishap is a normal world boss that can be found in the Liyue region. He resides inside the cave found between the Tianqiu valley in the east and Nantianmen in the west (see map marker above for exact location).

Once your party enters the cave, the battle with Primo Geovishap will start immediately. Although he is known as the Geo Dragon, he actually spawns randomly as one of the four elements mentioned below. This means that the boss will be immune to one element, which may throw you off.

In order to beat such a complex boss, your party composition should be well adjusted beforehand.

Best Heroes

The best characters to have on your side would be Geo heroes, since that’s the only element that Primo Geovishap isn’t immune to.

The best characters against Primo Geovishap boss are:

  • Noelle — Despite a few drawbacks, she has what is so needed for this boss fight: Geo shield. It can be activated with her Breastplate elemental skill, which not only absorbs damage, but also reflects it and deals damage.
  • Zhongli — Just like Noelle, he can create a shield of jade with his Dominus Lapidis ability. The best part about this shield is that it absorbs all types of elemental damage, which is essential against Primo Geovishap.
  • Qiqi — An indispensable healer in any team, Qiqi is a must-have character in a fight against this boss.

In case you want to choose shield enabler for specific elements, then these heroes will do the best job:

  • Xinyan (Pyro)
  • Beidou (Electro)
  • Diona (Cryo)

Genshin Impact: Best Primo Geovishap Strategy

As soon as you enter the cave, try to get behind Primo Geovishap, as that’s where he is most vulnerable.

Be considerate of his Whirlwind attack, which he performs whenever somebody stands behind his back. This is a spinning attack, which can be either dodged by dashing backwards or absorbed with any of your shield enablers.

The boss will not always allow you to get behind him. In this case you need to stand and attack him in front, which is more dangerous.

Expect three types of attacks: Punch, Slash, and Elemental Breath. Punch and Slash are both easy-to-dodge melee attacks. But this is a dragon we’re dealing with here, and sooner or later he will start breathing his elemental fire at you.

The pattern of the Elemental Breath always appears from right to left. Once he turns his head to the right, start dashing front and right to avoid all that elemental damage.

Also, don’t stand too far away out of his reach, as he will start dropping explosive elemental stones that can be lethal. So keep close and fight on.

Lastly, Primo Geovishap will randomly use his devastating AoE attack: Primordial Shower. Nothing except Geo shields can protect you from this kind of damage. Once the attack is over, his resistances will go down for a few seconds, which is a great opportunity for attacking.

When Primo Geovishap’s health drops below 10%, it will be easy to finish him off, as he will be exhausted by the battle.

When Primo Geovishap is finally defeated, a Trounce Blossom will spawn. You will be able to open the blossom with the help of 40x Original Resin.
