Karazhan is an old raid from The Burning Crusade expansion of World of Warcraft. The latest patch, 7.1, offers a mythic level dungeon version. This is completely separate from the actual raid and will have its own entrance.
You must also complete a quest line to unlock it, which is what I’m here for. I’ll help by explaining each step you need to unlock the new Karazhan dungeon.
This guide will go over everything you need to unlock the Karazhan dungeon in Legion patch 7.1 including:

Unlock Steps
The first thing you must do when starting is go to Khadgar in Dalaran. He is located in the Violet Citadel.
He will have a quest that sets you on the path to unlocking Karazhan. The first thing you must do is defeat the God-King in Mythic Halls of Valor. Below is a list of each step.
- Defeat the God-King in the Mythic Halls of Valor dungeon
- Recover the Fragments of Spite, Power and Torment
- You get these from Mythic Black Rook Hold, Violet Hold, and Vault of the Wardens.
- The last boss drops the item needed.
- Aura of Uncertainty – Unravel the mystery
- This is just dialogue and you can talk to Khadgar to complete this step.
- Return to Karazhan – Wait for Khadgar to make a portal, or just go there yourself, to Karazhan.
- Pick up the 3 quests available – Corruption Runs Deep, Finite Numbers, Holding the Lines.
- Corruption Runs Deep – Use the quest item at the location to collect the corrupted samples.
- Finite Numbers – Close 4 portals and slay 20 demon in Deadwind Pass.
- Holding the Lines – Secure the eastern and western Ley Lines underneath Karazhan.
- You can do most of this by going underground near where you pick up the quests.
- After that you get 2 more quest to complete.
- Reclaiming the Ramparts – Go to the marked locations around the tower and use the quest item to place wards.
- Thought Collection – Interrogate the captured Wyrmtongue.
- The next part involves using a Wyrmtongue disguise.
- The Power of Corruption – Use the disguise to reach the chamber underneath Karazhan, then defeat Thar’zul and Elux’ara Darkscorn.
Finally, Karazhan will be unlocked. You will also get 2 dungeons quests — 1 to defeat the last boss, and 1 to collect soul fragments from the different areas in the dungeon.
The rewards are artifact power and an 850 lvl ring. The bosses in the dungeon drop loot at 855+ and 860+ for the later bosses.
