Is Wild Hearts Free to Play?

Can you play Wild Hearts for free? Here's the answer.

Wild Hearts is EA’s answer to Monster Hunter, and the Omega-Force-developed title is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. While it doesn’t quite reach the same heights as Capcom’s action RPG, there’s still a lot of untamed, unbridled fun to be had with it. And those looking to see what the fantasy world of Azuma has in store may be wondering if Wild Hearts is free to play.

Can You Play Wild Hearts for Free? — Answered

Wild Hearts is not free to play on PC, PS5, or Xbox Series platforms. As of this writing (February 17, 2023), there is no indication that EA will make the game F2P at any time, though there’s always the possibility things could change. With the likes of Destiny 2, For Honor, and Rocket League, to name a few, there’s plenty of precedent for games finding their way to the F2P model after launch.

The one caveat is that EA Play/EA Play Pro subscribers, Game Pass Ultimate members, and PC Game Pass users can explore and hunt in Wild Hearts without buying the game. However, this option isn’t technically free since you’re still paying for those services.

EA Play, Game Pass Ultimate, and PC Game Pass members can play up to 10 hours of Wild Hearts before losing access. Those who sub to EA Play Pro, which is only available on PC, “get access to the Karakuri Edition … and can continue to play Wild Hearts as long as they are members,” according to the game’s FAQ page.

  • EA Play costs $4.99/month or $29.99/year.
  • EA Play Pro costs $14.99/month or $99.99/year.
  • Game Pass Ultimate costs $14.99/month ($1 for the first month to new subscribers).
  • PC Game Pass costs $9.99/month ($1 for the first month for new subscribers).

And that answers the question of whether or not Wild Hearts is free to play — for now. We’ll be sure to update this article if EA decides to change course in the future, offering up the Monster Hunter rival en gratis.
