Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl: How to Get Heart Scales

Getting Heart Scales in Pokemon BDSP takes some time until you have the National Dex. This guide tells you where to find them.

Heart Scales in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are a rare resource and an important one if you want to recover forgotten moves. The Move Reminder in Pastoria City only accepts them as payment, and you won’t have easy access to them until after you become Sinnoh Champion and obtain the National Dex.

How to Get Heart Scales in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

You can randomly find Heart Scales while digging in the Grand Underground. Make sure to use the pick to excavate them so you don’t accidentally bring the wall down and lose your loot.

Heart Scales usually come from Luvdisc, but you can find two lying on the ground. The first is on Route 212, near the Honey Tree. Walk to the left of the Honey Tree until you hit the green tree boundary, and check the ground in the mud for one.

The next free Heart Scale is on Route 214 in the area where the white fencing is. Work your way through the fence maze until you reach an area with tall grace surrounded by the fencing. It’s hidden in the grass on the left side.

After you obtain the National Dex, you can fish for Luvdisc on Route 224 using the Super Rod. Every Luvdisc comes with one as a held item, so it’s essentially an endless supply of Heart Scales. It also means you can just use Thief to steal them if you don’t feel like wasting Poke Balls or having 500 Luvdisc in your boxes.
