These are the best weapons in Mordhau ranked to help you choose the best for your build.

The best Mordhau weapons can mean the difference between victory and defeat, and there are several worthwhile options to choose from. Currently, there are over 80 different armaments in the game, including one-handed, two-handed, and ranged varieties, and that can make choosing the best a tall task.

Best Mordhau Weapons Ranked

S-Tier Weapons

Halberd

  • Type: Two-Handed
  • Gear Points: 24

The Halberd is an expensive two-handed weapon, but the damage it provides is worth it. It’s especially effective for slashing attacks that can hit up to three enemies at a time.

Also, you can thrust the Halberd toward your enemy like a spear. Coupled with its slash attacks, the Halberd is an unpredictable weapon that’s hard to counter. Just use it in an open space to make use of its length to get the most out of this weapon.

Zweihander

  • Type: Two-Handed
  • Gear Points: 24

The Zweihander is another two-handed weapon and is an excellent alternative to something like the Executioner’s Sword.

This sword can kill enemies instantly if you manage to hit them in the back, and it’s good for frontal attacks from greater range than short swords. The Zweihander’s power comes from its weight, which can also make it slower than other weapons, so bear that in mind. It’s also not as well suited for extreme close-range combat. But the upside outweighs the potential risks.

Throwing Knife

  • Type: Ranged
  • Gear Points: 4

The Throwing Knife is a great support weapon in Mordhau that has plenty of uses across the battlefield. It’s fast and light, as well as highly precise. It has enough damage to pierce through light armor, and it gives you a ranged option that can ding enemies for decent damage. It’s simply essential for almost every build to have this Mordhau weapon in its arsenal.

Eveningstar

  • Type: Two-Handed
  • Gear Points: 21

The Eveningstar is basically a longer version of Mace, but it has far more damage and range, making it the better choice between the two. You can also shift the grip on Eveningstar, reducing the range to increase its stab damage.

What makes this Mordhau weapon special is the speed at which you can hit enemies, and if your strikes are precise enough, then you can kill your enemies in a mere two strikes.

Mordhau: A-Tier Weapons

Greatsword

  • Type: Two-Handed
  • Gear Points: 21

If not for the Zweihander, the Greatsword would easily be the best sword in Mordhau, but since it’s a bit shorter and deals less damage, we’re ranking it in our A-tier.

The Greatsword is, well, great for quick slashing through multiple enemies in a single wide arc, and the speed at which it can do it means you can either cut down more enemies faster or go on the defensive more quickly. The Greatsword also deals well with almost any type of heavy armor, making it another good choice.

Maul

  • Type: Two-Handed
  • Gear Points: 21

The Maul is perfect for duels. It doesn’t swing terribly fast, but its damage is incredibly high. If you manage to get the momentum of your swings right, then it can easily kill a heavily-armored player with one swing regularly. The Maul would be an excellent choice for the Bloodlust build.

War Axe

  • Type: Two-Handed
  • Gear Points: 15

If the length of the Halberd intimidates you — or doesn’t fit your playstyle — and you don’t want to hurt your teammates in the heat of the battle, then consider a War Axe instead.

The War Axe’s damage is a little less than the Halberd, but this weapon is half the length, which makes it a bit more convenient for close-quarters combat. If you like slashing heads off, then this is a great weapon meant just for that.

Battle Axe

  • Type: Two-Handed
  • Gear Points: 15

Although the Battle Axe and the War Axe are quite similar, there are actually a few important distinctions that put the former slightly below the latter.

The Battle Axe is 20cm longer than the War Axe and thus has a longer range, which also makes it less ideal than the War Axe for close-quarters fighting. It also has a shorter attack windup, which takes a lot less stamina than War Axe. Further, keep in mind that Battle Axe doesn’t have a great thrust attack.

Messer

  • Type: Two-Handed
  • Gear Points: 15

The Messer is known as the light armor destroyer because of its amazing drag and slash damage. Many players consider it superior to the Longsword due to its higher speed and decent reach.

It’s shorter than the Longsword and doesn’t have the same reach, so keep that in mind. There’s also a one-handed version of the Messer that could be just as good in combination with the Heater shield.

Pole Axe

  • Type: Two-Handed
  • Gear Points: 18

If you want to do well against a team of enemies, then the Pole Axe would be an excellent stand-in for the Halberd due to its length and stabbing power.

Indeed, in certain situations, the Pole Axe may be even a little faster than the Halberd and is able also to slash and thrust. In all, this is a light version of our S-tier weapon above, and the damage isn’t quite as high.

Mordhau: B-Tier Weapons

Spear

  • Type: Two-Handed
  • Gear Points: 24

At 180cm, the spear is the longest weapon in Mordhau. It allows for heavy thrust attacks, but its speed and swing damage aren’t as optimal as weapons like the Pole Axe or Halberd.

The Spear is very efficient against horses due to its length, keeping you safe from knockback, and it can be useful against infantry in the open field, but if you’re confined or the enemy gets too close, its effective degrades quickly.

Rapier

  • Type: One-Handed
  • Gear Points: 12

The Rapier is probably the most beginner-friendly weapon in Mordhau. It’s just a simple thrusting weapon that’s excellent for finishing off enemies. It’s also highly effective for headshot stabs. That’s one of the reasons you’ll see so many players using a Rapier on Duel servers.

Falchion

  • Type: One-Handed
  • Gear Points: 8

The Falchion is a very fast one-handed weapon that does a decent amount of damage. Players call it the short Zweihander due to its high power level.

Its slashing damage is especially effective but look elsewhere if want something for stabbing damage as well. In that case, the Short Spear may fit your needs a little better.

Executioner’s Sword

  • Type: Two-Handed
  • Gear Points: 21

The Executioner’s Sword is a nice weapon that takes some time to master but can easily kill enemies with two precise strikes. If your playstyle is more geared to arcing, quick sword strikes, this is a weapon to try.

On the other hand, it has absolutely no combo capability, and its stab attacks are terribly weak in comparison to other two-handed swords. The Executioner’s Sword is also relatively short at only 110 cm.

Cleaver

  • Type: One-Handed
  • Gear Points: 3

The Cleaver can be your best friend at short range due to its extremely fast slashes and high damage. However, it will be completely useless against heavily armored enemies or enemies immune to stabbing attacks. It’s not a bad weapon, just very limited.
