How to Get the Regalia Type-G Mount in FFXIV

The Regalia Type-G is a limited-time mount that players can earn by completing the Final Fantasy XV collaboration event in FFXIV. Here's how to get it.

Final Fantasy XIV is filled to the brim with different mounts to obtain, letting you choose whatever fits your personality best. Some mounts are far more difficult to get than others, of course. Case in point is the Regalia Type-G, the gorgeous automobile from Final Fantasy XV, which is only available as part of the “A Nocturne For Heroes” limited-time event.

Luckily we’re here to walk you through the best way to get one of the best multi-seater mounts in all of FFXIV

FFXIV’s A Nocturne For Heroes event is available from Monday, September 13 through Monday, October 18, 2021, at 7:59 a.m. PT. During this period you’ll need to complete the event’s questline, then earn enough MGP to purchase the Regalia Type-G mount at the Gold Saucer.

Anyone that completed the crossover event the first time doesn’t need to worry, but for new players, this is the perfect opportunity to get a sweet new mount.

Completing The Man In Black Questline

The first order of business is to find The Man In Black quest, which is fairly easy to do. Head to Ul-dah, Steps of Nald, and go to the coordinates X:8.5 Y:9.7. You’ll want to talk to an NPC named Kipih Jakkya to start the quest.

Complete The Man in Black and it will lead to two other quests, “In the Dark of Night” and then “Messenger of the Winds.” They’re all pretty straightforward, so just see everything through and you’ll be ready to move onto the next step: finding the Ironworks Vendor.

Finding the Ironworks Vendor in The Gold Saucer

Once you’ve completed the three quests, you can head to the Entrance Square of the Gold Saucer to find the Ironworks Vendor, at coordinates X:5.3, Y:6.3. The vendor will let you purchase three different FFXV-related items:

  • Lucian Locks for 20000 MGP
  • The Noctis Lucis Caelum Card for 10,000 MGP
  • The Regalia Type-G for a whopping 200,000 MGP

That’s massive amount, obviously, so now you need to wrack up some MGP.

How to Earn MGP Easily

The easiest way to earn MGP at the Gold Saucer is by simply participating in the weekly fashion report. Speak with the Masked Rose near the MGP redemption desk to participate in the fashion report, which resets on Friday every week.

You get 10,000 MGP for just participating, but if you manage to get an 80% rating or higher, you’ll earn an extra 50,000 MGP. Masked Rose will give you the theme as a hint for what to wear, and you can usually find threads on Reddit walking through each week.

Another way to earn MGP is by completing Jumbo Cactpot drawings, and the game lets you do three per day. Talk to the Jumbo Cactpot Broker in the Gold Saucer and buy a ticket for 10 MGP. Once the drawing happens, you’ll know if you won, and it’s a good way to rack up a bit of points. Remember, you can do this three times each day.

The final two ways of getting MGP are through the Gold Saucer Challenge Log and GATEs, which are the Gold Saucer equivalent of FATEs. If you haven’t unlocked the Challenge Log, you’ll need to go to Gridania, Ul’Dah, or Limsa Lominsa and complete the quest Call of the Sea.

The Challenge Log contains objectives like “complete 3 minigames,” or “win 10 Chocobo races,” and each week you can earn up to 32,500 MGP.

GATEs will pop up at points throughout the day in the Gold Saucer, and each one you complete usually rewards roughly 300-500 MGP. It’s not a ton, but completing a bunch of GATEs can help bump up your total.

As long as you get started early and spend a lot of time in the Golden Saucer in FFXIV, you should be able to purchase the Regalia Type-G after a couple of weeks. Good luck!
