All Changes Operation Guns DLC Brings to Vampire Survivors

I wonder what will the DLC after this one be.

From a random weekend project to a video game that collaborates with the likes of Among Us and Contra —that’s Vampire Survivors in one sentence. Operation Guns DLC was announced at the Triple-I Initiative, to the great surprise of the community. How will Operation Guns DLC change Vampire Survivors?

What Changes Can We Expect With the Operation Guns DLC in Vampire Survivors?

One thing is almost 100% certain: If we’re getting 11 new characters and 22 new weapons, we’re getting 11 base weapons and 11 evolutions. The Original Vampire Survivors game and all three previous DLCs (Legacy of the Moonspell, Tides of the Foscari, Emergency Meeting) have weapons that do not have evolutions.

The natural question that arises in many players’ minds is: “How can you optimize your runs and get the weapons you actually want to play with if so many different weapons are available to begin with?”

The solution is simple: It’s called the “Seal” PowerUp, which can now be leveled to Level 3 (III in Roman numerals) and allows you to forbid up to 60 items from your Collection from appearing as level-up choices. This will hopefully allow us to optimize our runs better.

One more important change is coming before the DLC: poncle has announced that the base game will receive a free update “by the end of the month,” and this update is now available for free in the beta branch on Steam. I’ve gone through the entirety of the content, and you should too, especially if you do not have enough Gold to purchase all of the unlockable content that’s coming.

The biggest change of them all, however, is the fact that Vampire Survivors is no longer “that small indie game.” It has the power and capability to work with well-known names in the industry, and I can’t fathom what the next DLC will be about or who the next cooperation will be with.

Vampire Survivors x Contra DLC Called Operation Guns Coming Soon

Triple-I Initiative came out of nowhere, and it came pretty strong. As soon as I learned what “names” were on the list, I knew something interesting was up. The new content will be here on May 9, 2024, and I’m probably going to be there waiting to claim it the first minute it becomes available.

The first trailer showcasing the new DLC convinced me that this is going to be a good one:

When I realized that Vampire Survivors is legitimately collaborating with Contra, I was excited that I’m finally getting new Vampire Survivors content to play. Let’s go through the details of what’s coming:

  • 11 gun-slinging characters (Brad Fang and I think Bill Rizer and Lance Bean are shown in the trailer).
  • 22 new weapons between base versions and evolutions. They’re not all guns – some of them trigger explosions, too!
  • 1 large stage and 1 bonus stage.
  • 13 music tracks directly from the Contra series and 6 brand-new covers.
  • An explosively silly 6-chapters Adventure.

That’s a lot of stuff for a DLC. Most of the unlocks will be done in the large stage, and based on the trailer, the bonus stage should be a “race” stage. The Adventure will be a great addition for people who want more content to play through and will give you a sense of progression through a short story tailored by poncle.

Stay tuned to GameSkinny’s Vampire Survivors game hub, where you’ll find day-one coverage for all the new DLC unlocks. Right now, I recommend you get the new secret character and unlock Santa.
