ARMS Switch Game Guide: Elements/Attributes Info

Check out this guide for an explanation of all the elements and attributes in Nintendo's Arms!
This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

Arms is a Nintendo brawler where players duke it out with different arms at their disposal, each of which has some type of element or attribute attached to it that activates upon charging. This mechanic adds a new wrinkle to the typical mechanics found in other fighting games, and these elements can drastically change how an Arm is used. So it’s important to know what each of them does.

There aren’t any official names for these seven attributes, so I’m going to categorize them by what each arm looks like and the effects they add when activated.

Arms Attributes

Arms attributes and elements

Fire

This attribute is denoted by a red fire symbol. When charged, the fire attribute will deal extra damage and knock your opponent down. This even works on characters with super armor.

Shock

This attribute is denoted by a blue lightning bolt. When charged, it will disable both of your opponent’s arms for a few seconds. They will not be able to punch, dash, jump, or move very far during this period. This element does not do extra damage

Stun

This attribute is denoted by a yellow sun symbol. When charged, it will deal extra damage and stun your opponent for a second. This stun is very brief and does allow for a follow-up guaranteed thrown like the Shock ability does, but the opponent is not knocked down.

This is a great element for dealing extra damage and setting opponents up for Rush Mode attacks.

Wind

This attribute is denoted by a green whirlwind symbol. When charged, this ability will deal extra damage and blow your opponent away from you. The opponent will be knocked down after they get blown away.

Blast

This attribute is denoted by an orange spiked symbol. When charged, this will attribute deal extra damage as an explosive blast at the end of the attack. This also knocks opponents down when it lands.

This attribute is different from fire because it is an extra attack after the initial one lands, and it does not happen immediately.

Ice

This attribute is denoted by a light blue snowflake symbol. When charged, this attribute will deal extra damage and slow your opponent down. When slowed, your opponent cannot dash, jump, or move very far, but they can still punch.

Blind

This attribute is denoted by a gray eye symbol. When charged, this attribute will deal extra damage and make your opponent unable to see part of the screen.

Non-Elemental Arms

There are a few Arms that do not have an element or attribute, but they still have bonuses. These Arms will grow bigger than normal when they are charged, making it much easier to land a hit — or two or three — on your opponent.

These are all the elements and attributes in Arms. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below!
