Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Offchurch Key Location

Can't find the Offchurch key in Assassin's Creed Valhalla? Here's where it is, and how you unlock that final door to the last chest in the area.

Nobody likes a locked treasure chest, especially in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Valuable upgrade materials like ingots or special pieces of gear could be locked inside. Most keys are pretty easy to locate, but one that might trip you up is the Offchurch key.

The walkthrough below tells you how to find Offchurch, its key, and the rewards you’ll get for all your hard work.

Where is Offchurch?

The easiest way to make sure you find everything valuable in Offchurch is to play through the normal story missions.

After you’ve left Norway and established Ravensthorpe, approaching Randvi inside the longhouse will give you access to the alliance map. One of the first choices you have will be to meet up with Sigurd and the Ragnarssons to gain control of the Ledecestrescire Region.

This is the questline you’ll need to be on in order to loot Offchurch.

You’ll have to work your way through a few missions in this questline to reach the mission called Tilting The Balance. This will send you to search for King Burgred’s hiding spot, a crypt, which you are given two hints about:

  • The old crypt is in the south of Ledecestrescire
  • Where the Arwy and the Alne rivers join

If you consult your map, it isn’t too hard to spot that you’re looking for Offchurch, located not too far from Ravensthorpe. Head west from your home settlement to Alcestre Monastery, then head straight southwest. There are several gold dots here, indicating that you’re in for a worthwhile visit.

Where Do I Find the Offchurch Key?

Once you arrive in Offchurch, several guards will attack you on sight. There is some decent loot in the camp, so feel free to skulk about and grab it or pick a fight if you feel strong enough.

For most of the big-time loot, however, you’ll need to head underground.

There is one tall building in Offchurch with several guards at the door; head inside and you’ll immediately find some staircases leading down. Follow them and you’ll come out in a large room: the crypt.

Your ultimate destination is straight ahead, but take some time to explore and you’ll be well rewarded.

In this main room, you’ll find a shelf on a wall you can pull to find some treasure and a small gap hidden behind some crates on the other wall that hides an ability book.

When you’re ready, however, proceed forward until you find an archway with two red eagle banners on either side. In the archway, there is a small flight of stairs leading up to another red banner.

Head up that small staircase to find two tunnels going opposite directions. Explore the room to the left to find some more loot, then head back down the right fork.

You’ll find a room with a crumbling wall that you can use an explosive to knock over. Do so and you’ll find a flooded chamber. Dive into the watery tunnel to find yet another treasure chest.

Continue further down the path to enter the final room of the Offchurch crypt. This room contains a powerful enemy (who, if you’ve been using your Odin’s Sight ability, should have a small key icon hovering over him). Defeat this foe and loot the body to grab the Offchurch Key.

It’s important to be following the story quest here because you’ll also find two locked doors in this room. These locked doors both lead to the same room, which Burgred has hidden himself in. Use your newly acquired key to unlock the door and tangle with Burgred. Knock him out and tie him up.

There is one last piece of wealth you should grab before continuing onward. Open the only other door in the final room (it is barred from this side) and it will lead you back up to the surface. Call your horse and load Burgred onto the back: it’ll be a mad dash back to camp to complete the quest.

The reason this key can be tricky to find is because some players try to tackle Offchurch before reaching this point in the story quests. It seems the skirmisher with the key only appears once you have reached this quest, so you’ll have to progress the story to grab that final bit of loot from the location.
