How to Get Mask of the Shapeshifter in Baldur’s Gate 3

Here are the exact, confirmed steps for getting the Mask of the Shapeshifter in Baldur’s Gate 3:

  • Step 1: Purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition of Baldur’s Gate 3.
  • Step 2: Travel to Emerald Grove Campsite.
  • Step 3: Use the Shapeshift Spell.

Mask of the Shapeshifter Step 1: Purchase Digital Deluxe Edition of BG3

Only players who’ve purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition of Baldur’s Gate 3 can unlock the Mask of the Shapeshifter in the game. It’s a part of the “Treasures of Rivellon Pack,” which includes five exclusive items that pay homage to Larian’s famous Divinity series of video games:

  • Mask of the Shapeshifter
  • Cape of the Red Prince
  • Lute of the Merryweather Bard
  • Needle of the Outlaw Rogue
  • Bicorne of the Sea Beast

Note that players who’ve purchased the Early Access version of the game should also have their games automatically switched to the Digital Deluxe Edition.

Mask of the Shapeshifter Step 2: Travel to Emerald Grove Campsite

When you have the correct edition of the game, travel to the Emerald Grove Campsite and open the Traveler’s Chest at coordinates X:-670 Y:-193. This chest contains the following items:

  • Mask of the Shapeshifter
  • Peculiar Clothing Chest
  • Bewildering Adventurer’s Pack
  • Drake General Dye

If you’d like to equip the Mask of the Shapeshifter, then right-click on the item and select the “Equip” option. This action will automatically exchange your current headgear for the Mask of the Shapeshifter.

Mask of the Shapeshifter Step 3: Use the Shapeshift Spell

Once you equip the Mask of the Shapeshifter, you’ll notice that your spell list contains a new Shapeshift spell. Follow these steps to use this spell correctly:

  1. Select the Shapeshift spell from the spells hotbar.
  2. Select one of 32 possible races and appearances.
  3. Once you transform, a new Dispel Disguise spell will appear in your hotbar.
  4. Select Dispel Disguise spell to revert back to your original form.

Note that you can also share the Mask of the Shapeshifter with your friends online during co-op. They can apply the Shapeshift spell and give it back to you or to another player, who can repeat the same process.
