Elden Ring: How to Fast Travel Through The Lands Between

Wondering how fast travel in Elden Ring? Here's how the system works with Sites of Grace in The Lands Between.

Elden Ring fast travel is a bit different from the systems found other From Software Souls games. The system involves Sites of Grace, similar to bonfires in Darks Souls and lamps in Bloodborne, but instead of being restricted by certain items, you’re able to jump around from site to site as soon as you enter The Lands Between.

This quick Elden Ring guide will tell how to fast travel, as well as when you can and can’t use the system. Overall, it’s fairly liberal, though there are some restrictions.

How to Fast Travel in Elden Ring

Elden Ring fast travel becomes available as soon as you unlock the second Site of Grace in the Stranded Graveyard, though jumping between those two points isn’t really helpful. It becomes much more useful as you explore Limgrave, move toward Stormveil Castle, and explore the areas east and south of the starting location.

To fast travel in Elden Ring, open your map and highlight a Site of Grace, indicated by round, gold icons. Then press X on PlayStation and A on Xbox. The game will ask you if moving to this new location is OK. Confirm, and you’re off.

You can also see all the Sites of Grace you’ve already visited by opening your map and pressing Triangle on PlayStation and Y on Xbox. This will bring up a list on the left side of the screen, letting you tab through Sites of Grace by regions, such as Limgrave, Linuria of the Lakes, and Caelid, and fast travel from there.

Finally, you can fast travel to the Roundtable Hold by clicking the icon in the bottom left corner of the map or bringing up the Sites of Grace list.

This fast travel system won’t get you to every point of interest in The Lands Between; Sites of Grace can be few and far between in certain areas, though they aren’t as scarce as bonfires in other Souls games, for example.

You’ll need to use your horse Torrent to get around quickly between Sites of Grace and uncover new fast travel points.

It’s worth noting that you can’t fast travel from dungeons you haven’t completed, even if you’ve discovered a Site of Grace in the area. For example, if you find yourself in Sellia Crystal Tunnel by way of a pesky trick, you can’t leave from the dungeon itself until you complete it; you must exit the cave even if you sit at the Site of Grace nearby. Otherwise, other Sites of Grace will have a red strike through them.

Though it’s basically a given, you also can’t fast travel while in combat

Outside of that, you can fast travel at will in Elden Ring. How the system works in From’s latest makes the experience a bit easier than others that have come before. Spending Runes to level up or using crafting materials like Smithing Stones to upgrade weapons isn’t as laborious. That’s not to mention being able to return to tough bosses like The Stonedigger Troll more quickly if you need to take a breather and explore elsewhere first.
