Find the best base locations to call home in Enshrouded.

Where are the Best Places to Build Your Base in Enshrouded?

The best places to build your base in Enshrouded are those with a lot of resources, as well as areas that allow you to reach distant landmarks with ease. For the sake of clarity, your initial base is a prime location. That’s because you find plenty of resources, such as Wood, Stone, Berries, Twigs, Resin, and others right out your back door.

There’s also a valley corrupted by the Shroud, which means there are plenty of Shroud-related materials like Shroud Wood and Shroud Liquid. The enemies that infest the area often drop Runes and Shroud Spores, which are used for various functions, including Flame Altar upgrades.

Choosing Base Locations for Your Flame Altars

Strengthening the Flame Altar Flames provides a permanent increase to the number of additional Flame Altars you can construct. You can create makeshift bases and fast travel points wherever you go. I spread my extra Flame Altars apart and farther away from Ancient Spires. That ensures I have multiple fast travel points across great distances to help with exploration.

I suggest plopping down Flame Altars in elevated locations. The Glider can be used to zip across the air and over the Shroud below. The higher your jump-off point, the more ground you can cover while gliding.

Sometimes you have to rescue crafting-related NPCs, such as the Alchemist. These missions take you to far-flung areas with Ancient Vaults. Moreover, you’ll want to return to your main base afterward. However, if you place an extra Flame Altar, you can easily fast travel to explore landmarks that are closer to the area that you just left.

How to Destroy Flame Altar Bases

I like placing various makeshift bases while I explore Enshrouded‘s landscapes, while ensuring that I have a pretty decent fast travel network to avoid most hassles. However, in instances when I no longer need a Flame Altar base as a fast travel point, I interact with the Altar so I can select the “Extinguish Flame” option.

Doing this causes the Altar to lose its effect, and structures that have been built so far will also disappear. On the bright side, it does let you place another Flame Altar in a different location (in case you’ve reached the current limit).
