Enshrouded: How to Farm XP Fast to Gain More Experience Levels

These are the best ways to gain EXP quickly in Enshrouded.

Getting levels means learning new skills, getting new equipment, and being less likely to die at the hands of a Fell. To get there, you need to get experience points. But don’t waste your time getting them just any way. I’ll tell you how to farm XP fast in Enshrouded.

How to Increase XP Gains Quickly in Enshrouded

When I began playing Enshrouded, it took me hours to get from Level 1 to Level 2, the finally to Level 3. Hours. It felt like a bit of a slog. That’s because I spent most of my time building my base and only killing the occasional Fell or wolf I passed by.

While productive, not all activities in Enshrouded award experience (XP). Since then, I learned what gives you experience points and how to power farm levels to aid in survival. Now I’m Level 12, die far fewer times to Fell creatures, and can explore without being afraid for my well-being.

Best Ways to Power Level XP in Enshrouded: Understanding Experience Values Stacking

There are four main ways to get XP in Enshrouded: Complete quests, discover new locations, kill enemies, and mine materials.

Not all asks net levels fast. The largest XP amounts come from finding new locations to mark on the map and finishing quests. Completing a quest can take over an hour, and if you’re visiting the same places over and over again, you’re not finding a new map location. Thankfully, killing enemies and mining materials makes up for the slow pace of completing quests completing.

Importantly, XP totals stack but don’t award more experience. If you kill an enemy worth 12 XP, the second enemy death gives you 24 XP on the tracker. This doesn’t mean the second enemy worth more. It’s the total of the two kills. The total is shown and combines all forms of XP gained in a short window.

Enshrouded XP Farming Method #1: Defeating Enemies

Killing enemies always gives XP. The higher an enemy’s level, the more XP you get, especially if that level is above yours. Killing lower level enemies helps but isn’t something you should seek out. Instead, spend your time clearing out Scavenger Camps, Elixir Wells, and caves full of spiders. These are often filled with multiple mobs, are easier to deal with, or have bosses that give large amounts of EXP.

Look for concentrated areas of enemies and mark them on your map to reference in the future. Create a loop of stops to hit, where enemies respawn and give XP gains. I personally like clearing through the Shroud, then the Scavenger Hill Camp, and then back down to Rookmore on the way to base.

Enshrouded XP Farming Method #2: Mining Resources

Using your pickaxe to get materials is an easy, all-level friendly way to stack XP in Enshrouded. There’s one caveat, however. You only get XP when you collect specific materials, such as Salt or Flintstone. Excavating the following costs Stamina, but won’t contribute to your next level. Don’t mine these for XP (you don’t get any points):

  • Stone
  • Dirt
  • Rubble
  • Mycelium
  • Luminous Growth

To make mining work for you, go to a Mineshaft, Quarry, or area with large deposits of minerals with an empty backpack. Start this near your first base, with deposits of Flintstone along the edge of the cliff. Mine at the chosen location, focusing on areas that completely cover the pickaxe circle. This means each item deposited into your pack rewards you with XP. It may be a small amount at first, but it adds up quickly.

Increase your Stamina by drinking Water or taking an Elixir of the Fell to ensure you spend more time mining and less time waiting. Further, have the highest level upgraded pickaxe available to get more materials and spend less time digging. Once an area is spent, return to base and deposit your haul, or move on to the next mining location. Repeat to gain levels quickly and create an impressive stockpile of resources.

Enshrouded XP Farming Method #3: Discovering New Locations

In general, discovering new locations to earn XP isn’t the most efficient way to power level. You typically farm resources and mobs or tend to your base in a familiar area that’s been completely explored.

However, going into a new regions the first several times boosts your levels quickly. There are plenty of undiscovered locations to stumble upon while searching through the Revelwoods or picking unknown flowers in the Nomad Highlands. At this point, wandering just for XP is worth it.

Those are the fastest ways to farm EXP in Enshrouded. Look for places with high enemy concentration that you can revisit consistently and mine resources to level quickly. Check out our guides hub for more on resources, enemies, and how to survive.
