Female Necromancer Names for Diablo 4 and Other Dark RPGs

Here are some of my favorite female necromancer names for Diablo 4 and other dark RPGs.

There are plenty of beautifully dark female names in history and mythology with meanings centered around death, shadow, and dark magic. These are perfectly suited for your mortal coil-manipulating necromancer. That’s why I’ve compiled a list of the best female Necromancer names for Diablo 4 and other dark RPGs.

Melinoe, Hecate or Nyx

Let’s start with Greek Mythology and a shoutout to Hades and Hades 2 where Melinoë, Hecate, and Nyx are names of goddesses connected to dark magic, death, and darkness:

  • Melinoë: An underworld nymph, or the princess of the underworld if we’re going by Hades 2, that’s heavily connected to nightmares, madness, illness, and death.
  • Hecate: The all-powerful goddess of magic in Greek myth who has mastered witchcraft, sorcery, and, above all, necromancy.
  • Nyx: Last but not least we have Nyx, the incarnation of night and above other things the originator or mother of Thanatos, the Greek god of Death.

Senna, Sienna, Syena, or Senka

All of these names essentially allude to the same Slavic word for darkness and shadow. The first three are iterations of Croatian origin while the fourth one is a Serbian word for shadow. This is a name also used very well in League of Legends with the champion Senna who perfectly encapsulates the tenebrous meanings of this name through her story.

Freyja, Freya, or Hela

If you enjoy reading about Norse mythology or are just a massive fan of the new God of War games you probably know that the goddess Freya is connected to death magic. She presides over Folkvangr where she chooses half of those who die in battle to go to Hel or Valhalla. Additionally, Freya is also a master of magical rituals that manipulate life and death.

In the same vein, Hela is perhaps even more fitting as the Goddess of the Underworld in Norse Mythology. She is a goddess of duality between life and death who has a perfect name and theme for a powerful female necromancer.

Morana, Morrigan or Morgana

Here we have a mix of my favorite mythologies with Morana from Slavic roots and Morrígan and Morgana from Celtic ones.

  • Morana: She is the Slavic goddess of death and winter, but her various aspects also connect her to witchcraft and death magic.
  • Morrígan: Morrigan is the Phantom Queen or a trio of goddesses depending on your perspective. Both versions preside over battle, strife, life, and death.
  • Morgana: If you’re a fan of Arthurian mythos you’ll recognize this name for a dark sorcerers of legend that plagued Camelot for decades.

Shivani and Kali

Shivani is an alternative name for the Hindi goddess Parvati where Shivani means “life and death.” Furthermore, Kali is another Hindi goddess that perfectly fits a female necromancer due to her connection to time, decay, and destruction. Kali’s name can also mean “the black one” which further fits the dark themes we’re going for.

Amaya

Amaya is a name of Japanese origin where the name means “the end” or “night rain.”

Rhunona or Yatra

These are names of goddesses from one of my favorite short stories. Rhunona presides over the realm of chaos, night, and darkness while Yatra is the goddess of death and dreams. Have a cookie from me if you know the story I’m talking about.

Calypso

Calypso doesn’t have any relation to death but it does relate to shadows as in “the one who hides”. It’s quite melodic and fitting for a necromancer who manipulates their undead armies from the shadows.

Carmilla and Stryga

Carmilla is one of the most popular female gothic and Vampire names due to Sheridan Le Fanu’s gothic novel of the same name as well as Bram Stoker’s Dracula and the Castlevania series. If you’re going for that vampiric feel then the Slavic vampiric monster Stryga, pronounced stree-gah, also fits the undead necromancer theme.

Circe

Last but not least, we have Circe, the infamous sorceress from Greek mythology. While Circe isn’t directly related to necromancy, her manipulation of arcane magical forces perfectly fits the role of a powerful female necromancer.

That’s it for my list of the best female Necromancer names for Diablo 4 and other dark RPGs. Stay tuned for more of our Diablo 4 coverage.
