FFXIV: Copperbell Mines Hard Guide – Final Boss

Here's the guide for Ouranos, the final boss of Copperbell Mines Hard.

Ouranos is another boss that takes concepts from the normal mode dungeon and adds new mechanics to it. This time around there is a lot more to do, and watch out for.

Key Points In The Fight:
  • Ouranos summons an Abyss Worm at the start of the battle. Whenever you are notified that the Abyss Worm is looking for fodder, one of the DPS needs to go pick up a crystal and drop it in the sand. Note: The tank will need to pull the boss around the ring to make the walk to the next crystal reasonably short for the DPS.
  • Power Attack inflicts a movement speed debuff on anyone it hits. The healer needs to remove this debuff from the crystal feeder as soon as possible.
  • Ouranos will summon Hecatoncheir adds during the fight, the DPS not tasked with feeding crystals needs to kill the adds.
  • Crystals don’t respawn, once you’re out of crystals you’ll need to burn Ouranos or you’ll wipe.

Here’s the Power Attack. The difference between the power attack and the knock back can be seen based on the location of the telegraph. If the telegraph is centered on Ouranos it’s the knock back, otherwise it’s the Power Attack.

Additional Notes:

The Abyss Worm pulls everyone to the center if it’s not fed. This is what wipes parties that run out of crystals too fast. Make sure you’re only feeding crystals when the notification pops up that the Abyss Worm is searching for fodder.

Ouranos’ knock back ability isn’t a big deal, as long as Ouranos is far enough away from the crystal that is next. If Ouranos is too close to the crystal, have the tank pull him back a bit.

That’s basically it for this fight. Ouranos isn’t a hard fight at all. Of the two Hard Mode dungeons I’d say Haukke Manor is more difficult. If you want to see more walkthroughs, check out my list of FFXIV guides
