FFXIV – Foods Unavailable at Vendors/Only Available from Culinarians

Know which foods you can get from NPCs and which you have to get from a Culinarian (or cook yourself).
This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

Being a Culinarian is one of the most time-consuming yet unrewarding of the Disciple of the Hand classes, but it is perfect for those looking for a crafting class they can also call a hobby (of sorts).

Out of all of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn‘s Disciples of the Hand, the Culinarian is the second most forgotten (after Alchemist) pre-50.

Someone will always need a Weaver, Goldsmith, Armorer, Blacksmith, Carpenter, or Leatherworker at any stage in the game. Pre-50 you will mostly be selling your tasty dishes on the market board, whereas at 50 you will most likely be selling or giving your labors or love to your fellow Free Company members.

I know it can seem like most of your efforts are for naught in the early levels of being a Culinarian — most of what you can make before level 20 can also be purchased at vendors — but keep it up!

Once you push into your 20’s, you will have more foods to make that you won’t have to sell for 15 to 30 gil to compete with vendor prices. The higher your level, the higher the demand for your food and the higher percentage of your recipes you will be able to sell at a profit.

Introduction to the list

Below is a list of foods that other players can only be made by a Culinarian. The only way to obtain these dishes is to make them yourself or to buy them off the market board, as such they are the most worth cooking to make money. Vendor-sold can be a big hurdle for low-level Culinarians trying to turn a profit, because of the low price of vendor dishes.

The vast majority of high-level recipes cannot be bought at vendors. They are included here for completion’s sake, but ultimately you will not be worrying about whether or not other players can buy what you’re making for a fraction of ingredient costs once you reach level 40 (and for the most part in your 30’s).

If you would like to reference what stat bonuses these dishes give, feel free to take a look at the list I worked up of all vendor and Culinarian-made foods, complete with stats. Make sure to have Ctr+F handy!

Thank you for your time, and I hope this helps someone somewhere!
