Gray Zone Warfare System Requirements for Optimal Gameplay

Gray Zone Warfare is here, and so are both sets of system requirements. Can your PC measure up?

As an early access, potentially alpha build with possibly years of development ahead of it, Gray Zone Warfare‘s system requirements are far from final. That said, you will still need a fairly beefy PC rig to run it properly, especially if you want much higher than 60 FPS. We’ll discuss all the PC specs you’ll need here.

Like any PC game worth its salt, Gray Zone Warfare comes with a set of minimum and recommended requirements. Having tested the game a bit, I’d say you need to get as close to the recommended specs as you can. The game is demanding and in dire need of optimization without upscaling, but it’s probably fairly playable on lesser rigs.

One note: the Steam reviews are awash in players with some of the most powerful PCs on the market seeing horrid performance for one reason or another, so having a powerful rig is no guarantee of worthwhile FPS.

Gray Zone Warfare Minimum System Requirements

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows® 10 64 Bit (with latest update installed)
  • Storage: SSD with 40 GB available space
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-8600 / AMD Ryzen™ 5 2600
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • GPU: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1080 / AMD Radeon™ RX 5700 /
    Intel® Arc™ A770 DirectX: Version 12

Yes, Gray Zone Warfare requires an SSD to play. It makes sense, given the massive amount of assets that need to stream as you travel the world by helicopter and on foot. And as much staying power as the GTX 1070 and RX 5700 have, if you can get your hands on the even more iconic 1080ti, or maybe an RX 5800, I’d highly recommend you do so. Also, try out an i7 processor. Based on the game’s current performance, I would expect you’ll be playing at or around the 30-40 FPS mark with these specs with upscaling on.

Gray Zone Warfare Recommended System Requirements

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows® 10 64 Bit (latest update) / Windows® 11 64 Bit (latest update)
  • Storage: SSD with 40 GB available space
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-9700K / AMD Ryzen™ 5 3600X Memory: 32 GB RAM
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • GPU: NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 3070 Ti / AMD Radeon™ RX 6800 DirectX: Version 12

These specs are quite a bit closer to my build, with the biggest difference being my 13700k vs. the recommended 9700k. That said, I had a 9700k for years, and I can confirm that it’s a beast of a CPU. I would bet it has a few issues handling Gray Zone Warfare. The 3070ti is also a worthy substitute for the 3080 FE I use, and while it might not have quite as much horsepower, you shouldn’t lose more than a few FPS vs. the slightly higher-tier card.

It remains to be seen whether the system requirements for Gray Zone Warfare change significantly or remain close to those we saw at the Early Access launch, but if you want the best experience, get as close as you can to the recommended specs.
