Does Honkai Star Rail Support Controllers on PC and Mobile?

Honkai Star Rail has controller support on PC, but it does not have controller support on mobile. These are the confirmed controllers that are supported on PC.

  • Xbox 360
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • PlayStation 4 DualShock
  • PlayStation 5 DualSense

However, none of the controllers or gamepads I tested with Honkai Star Rail on iOS and Android worked. It didn’t matter if I tried wired or Bluetooth connections. Instead, you’ll have to use the game’s touch controls on mobile.

How to Use a Controller in Honkai Star Rail on PC

To use a controller in Honkai Star Rail on PC, simply connect your chosen gamepad to your computer via a wired, wireless, or Bluetooth connection. The game will recognize the inputs right away, whether you connect a controller on the title screen or in-game.

Do You Have to Complete the Tutorial to Use a Controller in HSR?

No, you don’t have to complete the HSR tutorial to use a controller. Through my own testing, I can confirm that you don’t have to complete the tutorial to use a controller in Honkai Star Rail.

The video above is from one of my HSR accounts, taken on May 4, 2023. You can see that I’m using a PlayStation 5 controller to play through the beginning stages of the tutorial, as well as to access the control options.

If you try to change inputs during the tutorial, you’ll receive a warning message advising that you can’t. However, you can switch inputs in the tutorial if you restart the game.

Beyond the tutorial, you can seamlessly switch between a controller and mouse and keyboard while playing. You can even use a gamepad and mouse and keyboard controls simultaneously.

And that answers the question of whether Honkai Star Rail has controller support on PC and mobile. For more, head over to our HSR guides page and check this list of active codes for free rewards!
