Honkai: Star Rail — How to Complete the Ever-Changing Mission

Here's how to complete the Ever-Changing mission in Honkai Star Rail.

Ever-Changing is one of the more straightforward missions in Honkai: Star Rail, but it unlocks pretty far into a playthrough. Thankfully, it’s rewarding from a progression standpoint, unlocks another quest with a more emotional payoff, and will help you reach higher Trailblaze Levels. You’re liable to be around TL 30 or so when you unlock it, so the extra EXP to reach the 34-level gate is more than welcome. Here’s how to complete the Ever-Changing mission.

Honkai: Star Rail Ever-Changing Mission Walkthrough

You unlock Ever-Changing after completing World 3 of the Simulated Universe, starting in the Base Zone. Speak to the receptionist Wen Mingde, who will send you on a quest to find a Curio creature called a Xenohydro. The thing can change shape at will, and your mission is to capture it and find its accomplice among the researchers.

Wen will direct you to the bottom left area of the Storage Zone, where the researcher Abraham needs rescuing from a group of Antimatter Legion enemies.

Defeat the Legion, send Abraham on his way, then return to the Base Zone. Directly across from the Space Anchor, the Xenohydro will have copied Wen’s appearance, and you’ll need to deduce which of them is the real Wen.

  • The answer is the Wen on the right. The Xenohydro is on the left, but the encounter ends in a fight either way.

The Xenohydro takes the form of an Ice Out of Space boss, so bring your Fire, Wind, and Quantum characters.

When you defeat the Xenohydro, it will escape into parts unknown, and after you speak to Wen one last time as the chaos of the creature’s exit subsides, you’ll complete Ever-Changing. You’ll immediately unlock the follow-up mission, Spirit Traces, which completes the chain.

And that’s how to complete the Ever-Changing mission in Honkai: Star Rail. If you’re looking for more mission help with the game, we’ve covered plenty, including the Fired mission, Hook’s Gift, and Signs of Fragmentum, among them. Our HSR guides hub goes over even more.
