How to Beat the Godskin Duo in Elden Ring

Knowing how to beat the Godskin Duo lets you get past one of the worst and most annoying bosses in Elden Ring.

Arguably the worst fight in Elden Ring, Godskin Duo is a masterclass in how not to make a duo boss. They have no synergy, are annoying enough individually, and don’t have a cool gimmick that lets you kill them. Here’s how to beat this horror show of game design.

How to Defeat the Godskin Duo in Elden Ring

There are two schools of thought when it comes to beating the Godskin Duo in Elden Ring: fighting them legitimately or cheesing them with Sleep. Both are equally effective depending on your playstyle, but I detail more about each method below.

How to Beat Godskin Duo Legitimately

If you want a straight-up, challenging, and frustrating boss fight against Godskin Duo, you’ll first need to know how to fight both Godskin Apostle and Godskin Noble. The versions in the Duo fight are just beefier versions of the Apostles and Nobles you’ve fought elsewhere in Elden Ring.

The only difference now is they’re together. My biggest piece of advice for tackling the Duo legitimately is this: don’t put them both into Phase 2 simultaneously. The Noble rolls around the arena, knocking you about at the speed of sound, and the Apostle puts out delayed attacks like candy. Use the stone gazebos to separate the two bosses and focus on killing one before you work on the other too much.

Remember: you must deplete their health bar entirely to beat Godskin Duo. You can’t simply kill both of them before the bar is empty. They respawn after about a minute, and you must keep killing them until they stay dead.

How to Cheese Godskin Duo With Sleep

I hate the Godskin Duo and will never fight them legit again. Both the Noble and Apostle are vulnerable to the Sleep status, which truly knocks them out for a few minutes. If you’re running an Arcane build, Sleep Arrows are a quick and easy way to apply the status, and you don’t need an upgraded bow to do it. Use a Shortbow with the Barrage Ash of War on it.

You can then use Bleed arrows with impunity. If you don’t have the Arcane for proper Sleep buildup at range, throw Sleep Pots at the Duo’s feet. In my fights, one pot was enough to put both the Noble and Apostle to Sleep if they were close together and I aimed it well. I could then get three fully-charged heavy attacks for free, which is also a free riposte with greatsword weapons.

Which Boss Should I Kill First: Apostle or Noble?

Between the two, I’ve always found fighting the Apostle easier, only because I’ve never been able to kite the Noble’s fat roll very well. The big guy is much easier to keep at arm’s length, however, and it doesn’t matter which of the Duo you hit. Damage to one is damage to their collective boss health, so if you want to ignore one of them entirely, that’s your prerogative.

The short version of beating Godskin Duo, then? Focus on one of them and keep the other one asleep forever. Bring your best weapons, especially those with Bleed, and keep around the column bases once the columns fall.

That’s how to beat Godskin duo in Elden Ring, both legitimately and with a cheese strategy. For more ways to make Elden Ring a more comfortable experience, check out our guides hub.
