How to Cross the River in Indika

Indika is a game of puzzles, and the first one you encounter requires you to cross the river without any assistance. As a shunned nun, you’ll have to solve this puzzle on your own. This is how to cross the river in Indika.

How to Solve the River Raft Puzzle in Indika

Crossing the river in Indika is the first true puzzle the game throws at you. It appears simple, at first, but in its simplicity lies the difficulty.

After being ignored by Tikhon, the lever for the raft activates. This is the only way across the river. You’re unable to go back up the ramp towards the convent, and your movement stops at the edge of other ice floes. There’s no way to jump across at a different point.

It seems like you can flip the switch and run to the raft, but no matter how many different ways I tried, running doesn’t get you on the raft. Instead, you’ll end up in the freezing cold river. Drowning five times earns you the Unholy Water Steam achievement.

Trying to use the lever from the raft doesn’t work as Indika can’t reach it over the railing. She also can’t jump over the railing after activating it.

Instead, you need to cross the raft when it’s stuck at the beginning of the path. To do this, follow these steps:

• Get the raft to the opposite bank.
• Activate the lever so the raft begins to return.
• Run to the top of the walkway.
• When the raft gets stuck, cross it to the other bank.

You’ll need to move fast since the raft doesn’t remain stuck in this spot for long. I was able to make it from the lever, across the raft, and to the opposite bank with little leeway.
