Humankind Crashes at Launch Fix

Many Humankind players who took part in the closed beta, started to experience game crashes at launch. This is caused by the old profiles that were created specifically for the closed beta stage.

If you took part in the open development or closed beta, then you need to delete your old profile and let the game create a new one.

Delete your old folder “Users[username]DocumentsHumankind” before starting a new game.

Verify the Integrity of Your Files

As usual, before looking for other reasons that may cause your game to crash, first verify the integrity of your files through Steam by following these steps:

1. Go to your Steam client
2. Select “Library” tab
3. Right-click on the Humankind game

Update Your System Files

Begin by updating your DotNet system files:

1. Go to “SteamsteamappscommonSteamworks Shared_CommonRedistDotNet4.5.2” folder on your PC
2. Execute “NDP452-KB2901907-x86-x64-AllOS-ENU.exe” file
3. Restart your PC once finished

Then, update your VCRedist files:

1. Go to “SteamsteamappscommonSteamworks Shared_CommonRedistvcredist” folder
2. Execute the following files one after the other:
   • 2012vc_redist.x64.exe
   • 2013vc_redist.x64.exe
   • 2019vc_redist.x64.exe
3. Restart your PC once finished

Finally, update your DirectX drivers:

1. Go to “SteamsteamappscommonSteamworks Shared_CommonRedistDirectX” folder
2. Execute “dxsetup.exe” file

Run Steam and Humankind as Administrator

You can force your system to run both Steam and Humankind as an administrator. Here’s how you can do it:

1. Go to “Program FilesSteam” folder on your PC
2. Right-click on the “steam.exe” file
3. Select “Properties” option
4. Go to “Compatability” tab
5. Check “Run this program as an administrator” option

You can do the same for your game:

Reload Your Save Files

In case Humankind crashes at certain points during gameplay, you may need to reload your save files. These may include such instances like:

• During actions in battle
• Between taking turns
