LEGO Fortnite: How to Upgrade Your Village

LEGO Fortnite takes building to a new level, letting you construct a home base in a bricktastic world, growing a small settlement with NPCs and all sorts of tools and shelters. However, you’ll need to upgrade your village to make the most of it. Here’s how.

How to Expand and Increase Village Rating in LEGO Fortnite

As you start your journey in LEGO Fortnite, you’ll have Cuddle Team Leader there to help you out. She’s an NPC that shows you the ropes, and eventually, you’ll want to add more NPCs to your village to help you collect resources, join you to fight enemies, or get Knotroot from a scary cave.

One of your first missions is to build a Village Square (x10 Wood, x10 Granite). Once you’ve placed the Village Square, you’ll start getting villagers that you can invite to live in your Village. However, every new villager will need a Bed and upgrades. As you upgrade your Village, you can add more Villagers, totaling up to 5 per Village Square.

Village Upgrades Explained in Detail

To begin upgrading your Village, you’ll need to build enough structures to reach a gold Village Square. In my experience, this is usually a few buildings and a station/item or two (like the Lumber Mill and Bed). The game will tell you when your Village is ready to upgrade, and you can track it in the upper right corner near your Village’s name.

Once the bar is completely filled, you’re ready to level up. However, you’ll need to provide some resources to upgrade, which you can see by interacting with the Village Square buildable. Follow these exact steps to upgrade your village when you’re ready:

• Approach your Village Square.
• Select the “Upgrade Village” tab.
• Provide the requirements.
  • Listed on the left.
• Confirm with “Upgrade Village” in the bottom right corner.

All Village Upgrade Requirements and Bonuses

While you can get more Villagers with leveling, there are other bonuses, too. All of the upgrade buffs will increase the feasibility of your NPCs. Here are all of the Village upgrades detailed. Note that we’re still adding the resource requirements for each one! Though we haven’t listed them here because it’s such an exhaustive list, you can also get more building recipes with each level.

• Level 1
  • Requirements: Build the Village Square.
  • Bonuses: Friendly explorers will visit the village. An additional villager can live at this village.
• Level 2
  • Requirements: 15 Wood, 15 Granite.
  • Bonuses: Villagers can be asked to forage nearby resources, refine wood, or refine stone.
• Level 3
  • Requirements: 10 Planks, 20 Granite.
  • Bonuses: Villagers will occasionally gift items. An additional villager can live at this village.
• Level 4
  • Resources: 10 Knotroot, 15 Planks, 25 Granite.
  • Bonuses: Villagers can be asked to cook, extract seeds, or tend dirt plots. Villagers assigned to woodcutting will produce more wood types.
• Level 5
  • Bonuses: Rarer explorers will visit the village. An additional villager can live at this village. Villagers gain bonus health and defense.
• Level 6
  • Bonuses: Villagers can be asked to smelt metal, refine textiles, and collect gems. Villagers assigned to stonecutting will produce more stone types.
• Level 7
  • Bonuses: Villagers can gift unique new recipes.
• Level 8
  • Bonuses: An additional villager can live at this village.
• Level 9
  • Bonuses: NPCs in this village can forage resources from other biomes. Woodcutters will also produce more wood types, and stonecutters will produce more stone types.
• Level 10
  • Bonuses: An additional villager can live at this village.
