Phasmophobia — How to Spot Ghost Orbs

If you're having a hard time spotting Ghost Orbs in Phasmophobia, this guide will solve the problem.

Ghost Orbs are one of the trickier pieces of evidence to get in Phasmophobia. You can only view them through the video camera, they move, and the Mimic using them as a red herring makes Ghost Orbs one of the more frustrating evidence types to deal with all around. Let’s go into some tips about how to find Ghost Orbs, and what you need to know about the Mimic.

What are Ghost Orbs

Ghost Orbs, also known as Spirit Orbs, as floating specks of white light that are often seen in photos and video camera footage. In real life, Ghost Orbs are often explained away as bugs or specks of dust floating in front of the camera lens. In Phasmophobia, they are evidence pointing to certain ghosts being in the room.

How to Spot Ghost Orbs in Phasmophobia

Ghost Orbs can only be discovered through the video cameras in the game, and you can take one of two routes to see them:

  • Holding the camera while walking about the house in the dark.
  • Either setting a camera down or putting it up on a tripod and then viewing through the van monitor.

The easiest and fastest way to find Ghost Orbs is to walk around the map while holding the video camera. It’s easier to spot Ghost Orbs in the dark with night vision activated. You want to be on the lookout for small floating white dots. They can be seen clearer in the darker parts of the camera video, and often go horizontally or upwards across the screen.

You can also leave the camera in a room, either on the Tripod or on another surface. If you’re just placing the camera, use F to drop it onto a table, the floor, etc., to activate it. If you’re using the Tripod, place the Tripod where you want it to face. Then place the camera on it using F. Once placed, regardless of method, you’ll be able to view what it sees by using the PC in the van. Click the mouse to change which camera is showing on the screen, and use the keyboard to change it to night vision mode.

Beware the Mimic

The Mimic adds its own flavor to Ghost Orbs, and is something to bear in mind each time you get orbs as “evidence”. It doesn’t just copy other ghosts, it also spawns a fourth fake evidence: Ghost Orbs. This is in addition to the other three evidence types it triggers. I’ve been tricked by this more than once, so has any other Phasmophobia player. Be aware of the fake orbs!
