Pokemon X Y – Elite Four Guide

Follow the tips in this guide to become the Champion of the Kalos Region.

You have collected all eight badges, defeated Team Flare, (probably) caught a legendary of the Kalos region, and have made your way through Victory Road to the Pokemon League in Pokemon X Y. Now you just need to defeat the Elite Four and the Champion. Professor Neckbeard is here to prepare you for that.

Normally for these Pokemon X Y walkthroughs, I would have a Know Your Enemy section where I describe type match ups to help make the fight easier. Since the Elite Four each use a different type, I will analyze the strengths and weaknesses of each trainer’s team one-by-one.

The Elite Four

All four of these trainers have something in common: they have two Pokemon from this generation, two from previous generations, three level 63 Pokemon, and one level 65.

You can take on the Elite Four in any order, so do not feel the need to take them on in the sequence the guide is written.

Siebold

The blond water type trainer Siebold has a team composed of Clawitzer, Gyarados, Starmie, and Barbaracle.

  • Clawitzer is a plain water type. He has Water Pulse (water), Dark Pulse (dark), Dragon Pulse (dragon), and Aura Sphere (fighting). Clawitzer is weak to grass and electric type moves; he is resistant to steel, fire, water, and ice.
  • Gyarados is a water/flying type. He has Waterfall (water), Ice Fang (ice), and Earthquake (ground). He also has Dragon Dance which will raise his attack and speed stats. He is weak to rock and electric; he is resistant to fighting, bug, steel, fire, and water; he is immune to ground.
  • Starmie is a water/psychic type. It has Dazzling Gleam (fairy), Psychic (psychic), and Surf (water). It also has Light Screen (psychic) which will halve special damage done to Starmie. It is weak to bug, ghost, grass, electric, and dark. It is resistant to fighting, steel, fire, water, psychic, and ice.
  • Barbaracle is a rock/water type. It has Cross Chop (fighting), Stone Edge (rock), Razor Shell (Water), and X-Scissor (bug). It is weak to fighting, ground, grass, and electric. It is resistant to normal, flying, poison, fire, and ice.

The only type weakness that all these Pokemon have in common is electric type moves. You will want to make sure that your team has at least one electric type, if not at least some electric moves.

Wilkstrom

This knight is a steel type trainer with a team composed of Klefki, Probopass, Scizor, and Aegislash.

  • Klefki is a steel/fairy type. He has Dazzling Gleam (fairy), Flash Cannon (steel), and Spikes (ground). He also has Torment, which will prevent you from using the same move twice in a row throughout its duration. Klefki is weak to ground and fire type moves. It is resistant to normal, flying, rock, bug, grass, psychic, ice, dark, and fairy. He is immune to poison and dragon.
  • Probopass is a rock/steel type. He has Earth Power (ground), Power Gem (rock), Discharge (electric), and Flash Cannon (steel). He is weak to fighting, ground, and water. He is resistant to normal, flying, rock, bug, psychic, ice, dragon, and fairy. He is immune to poison.
  • Scizor is bug/steel type. He has Bullet Punch (steel), X-Scissor (bug), Iron Head (steel), and Night Slash (dark). Scizor is only, but extremely weak to fire; he is resistant to normal, bug, ghost, steel, grass, psychic, ice, dragon, dark, and fairy; he is immune to poison.
  • Aegislash is steel/ghost. He has Sacred Sword (steel), Shadow Claw (ghost), and  Iron Head (steel). He also has King’s Shield (steel) which will prevent any damage from being done for the turn; if the attack makes physical contact, it will lower Aegislash’s opponent’s attack stat. Aegislash is weak to ground, ghost, fire, and fark; he is resistant to flying, rock, bug, steel, grass, psychic, ice, dragon, and fairy; he is immune to normal, fighting, and poison.

Fire will work on all of them except for Probobass; ground will work on all of them except for Scizor. You will want to have Pokemon on your team with moves from at least both of these types.

Drasna

This dragon type trainer, decked in teeth jewelry, has a team composed of Dragalga, Druddigon, Altaria, and Noivern.

  • Dragalge is a poison/dragon type. She has Dragon Pulse (dragon), Surf (water), Sludge Bomb (poison), and Thunderbolt (electric). She is weak to ground, psychic, ice, and dragon; she is resistant to fighting, poison, bug, fire, water, grass, and electric.
  • Druddigon is mono type dragon. She has Dragon Tail (dragon), Revenge (fighting), Retaliate (normal), and Chip Away (normal). She is weak to ice, dragon, and fairy; she is resistant to fire, water, grass, and electric.
  • Altaria is dragon/flying. She has Moonblast (fairy) and Dragon Pulse (dragon). She also has Cotton Guard (grass) which will raise her defense stat and Sing (normal) which will put her opponent to sleep. She is weak to rock, ice, dragon, and fairy; she is resistant to fighting, bug, fire, water, and grass; she is immune to ground.
  • Noivern is flying/dragon. She has Air Slash (flying), Dragon Pulse (dragon), Flamethrower (fire), and Super Fang (normal).  Noivern is weak to rock, ice, dragon, and fairy; she is resistant to fighting, bug, fire, water, and grass; she is immune to ground.

Ice and dragon are the two types that will work on all of Drasna’s team.

Malva

This sunglass-clad fire type trainer has a team made up of Pyroar, Torkoal, Chandelure, and Talonflame.

  • Pyroar is fire/normal. She has Hyper Voice (normal), Flamethrower (fire), and Wild Charge (electric). She also has Noble Roar (normal), a move that lowers Pyroar’s enemies attack and special attack. She is weak to fighting, ground, rock, and water; she is resistant to bug, steel, fire, grass, ice, and fairy; she is immune to ghost type moves.
  • Torkoal is mono fire. She has Earthquake (ground), Stone Edge (ground), and Flame Wheel (fire). Curse (ghost) lowers Torkoal’s speed stat and raises its attack and defense. She is weak to ground, rock, and water; she is resistant to bug, steel, fire, grass, ice, and fairy.
  • Chandelure is ghost/fire. She has Flamethrower (fire) and Shadow Ball (ghost). She can also confuse her opponent with Confuse Ray (ghost) and she lowers your Pokemon’s Sp. Atk. with Confide (normal). She is weak to ground, rock, ghost, water, and dark; she is resistant to poison, bug, steel, fire, grass, and ice; she is immune to normal and fighting.
  • Talonflame is fire/flying. She has Brave Bird (flying), Quick Attack (normal), Flare Blitz (fire), and Flail (normal). She is weak to rock, water, and electric; she is resistant to fighting, bug, steel, fire, grass, and fairy; she is immune to ground.

Rock and water are the two type of moves that all four of these Pokemon are weak to.
