How to Get the Sparkfire Shotgun in Remnant 2: The Awakened King
You can get the Sparkfire Shotgun in The Awakened King by unlocking a hidden door in the Derelict Lighthouse. That seems simple enough, right? Well, the biggest problem is how to make the Derelict Lighthouse appear in the first place.
Personally, I found that it was easier to just reroll a Losomn Adventure Mode several times (not an Awakened King run). I made sure that I started in Morrow Parish, and I explored the initial zone until I saw an entrance that took me to the Derelict Lighthouse. True, this does require you to rely on random/procedural generation, so I wish you luck.
How to Get the Lighthouse Key
Once you’ve made it to the Derelict Lighthouse, head to a building that looks like a workshop. It’s at the left-hand side of the zone. There, you’ll encounter a couple of aberrations: Gorecarver and Thunderpiercer.
These aberrations tend to roll with random affixes, such as Trapper or Toxic, so watch out. Once you’ve defeated both enemies, you’ll receive the Remnant 2: The Awakened King Lighthouse Key quest item.
How to Unlock the Secret Door in the Derelict Lighthouse
Next, make your way to the lighthouse proper. As you cross the bridge, you’ll notice a narrow path to the left. Do not bother with the main building and door for now. Instead, just drop down the tunnel to see a secret door.
To open this secret door, check your inventory and inspect the Lighthouse Key. Then, rotate it until you see the interaction prompt. Press the button to trigger a hidden mechanism, which allows you to use the key on the locked door. Inside, you’ll find the Sparkfire Shotgun.
Sparkfire Shotgun Stats and Perks
The Sparkfire Shotgun in Remnant 2: The Awakened King has the following characteristics:
- Basic shot: Uses incendiary shells that cause burning and fire damage over three seconds.
- Damage: 100
- Rounds-per-minute (RPS): 1.4
- Magazine: 7/28
- Ideal range: 12 meters
- Critical hit chance: 5%
- Weak spot damage bonus: 100%
- Stagger modifier: 10%
The cool thing about the Sparkfire Shotgun is that its basic shots already deal fire damage and cause the burning effect. Note that the weapon doesn’t have a unique mod or mutator. As such, you’re free to select anything for those slots.
Personally, I suggest using the Corrosive Rounds or Voltaic Rondure mod, as well as the Maelstrom mutator. Due to the weapon’s shells already causing fire damage, you can slot a mod that uses a different type of elemental damage (i.e. poison or shock). This is certainly viable for those that like to create status effect-focused builds for the Ritualist class.
How to Open the Other Locked Door in the Derelict Lighthouse
Earlier, I mentioned that you should ignore the main lighthouse building. That’s because of how the Lighthouse Key is used:
- If you use the Lighthouse Key to open the door at the top of the structure, it will disappear. You’ll have no choice but to do another run where the Derelict Lighthouse dungeon is present.
- However, if you use the Lighthouse Key to open the secret door in the underground tunnel, it will remain in your inventory. This allows you to obtain the Sparkfire Shotgun in Remnant 2: The Awakened King, as well as the other reward in the lighthouse, in a single run.
I can’t confirm if the above is a bug or if it’s working as intended. Regardless, after you’ve acquired the shotgun, make your way to the top of the lighthouse. Inspect the key once more and press the interaction button. This lets you use the key to open the door at the top.
Your reward is the Lighthouse Keeper’s Ring, which automatically generates +3 mod power per second for every nearby entity that’s suffering from a negative status effect. This is another viable option for those that want to try Atonement Fold-centric builds.
