Improving your knights is your main focus in Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters, and there are a lot of ways to do just that. Many of the game’s mechanics aren’t revealed until you’ve played for quite a while, and the Commune System is a prime example of that. It essentially lets your knights commune with the dead, but it can be a bit convoluted.

Here’s how to unlock the Commune system and how it works.

How Commune Works in Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters

As a basic explanation, the Commune system lets you respec your knights or give them ability points separate from leveling up. However, there are a few steps you need to take first.

The first step to using the Commune system is to unlock the Stasis Chamber, which you’ll need to build from the deck of your ship. After you upgrade the Plasma Reactor, the Stasis Chamber will cost 6 Servitors and take 12 days to build.

When complete, the chamber allows you to store the remains of dead knights, giving at least a little incentive to continue on if you lose a character during a mission. You should invest in the Statis Chamber early on, so any knights you lose don’t simply go to waste.

When you have at least one knight in the Stasis Chamber, go to the Barracks and select the knight you want to respec or improve. Go to the ability screen. At the bottom, you’ll see a new button that says “Commune.”

Now you’ll have one of two options: you can either choose to respec all of your knight’s ability points or gain bonus points to invest however you see fit. Keep in mind that if you choose to respec, you won’t gain any bonus points. You’ll simply have all the points you invested already.

The Commune system likely isn’t going to be something you use a ton, seeing as you need dead knights to use it. However, if you’ve suffered some losses, it can be a fantastic way to quickly power up new recruits you’ve added to replace losses.
