If you’re looking to beef up a Psyker to provide much-needed support for your squad, you’ll want to effectively utilize Heinrix. He can stay on the frontline and keep everyone healed, while still dealing damage. Here’s my guide on the best Heinrix build in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader.

How to Make the Best Heinrix Build in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader

My Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader best Heinrix build guide primarily looks at the Inquisitor’s support capabilities, where he’ll stay at the frontlines. Take note that Heinrix has the Warrior basic archetype and the Sanctioned Psyker origin (with Biomancy and Sanctic powers unlocked). That means his playstyle isn’t as straightforward as Abelard‘s since you’ll have to take note of Psyker abilities, too.

Ideally, Heinrix should have a Force Sword and a one-handed pistol, along with a Psyker Staff (i.e. Lightning Arc spell or Syphon Life spell). One particular Force Sword you can acquire is a reward from the Unidentified Ruins puzzle, and I highly suggest you seek it out as soon as you can.

Best Attributes and Skill Options for Heinrix

For my Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader best Heinrix build, I’ve opted to focus on the following characteristics and skills for weapons, movement, and healing:

  • Characteristics: Agility and Weapon Skill.
  • Skills: Athletics and Carouse (only if Abelard isn’t your main tank), and Medicae (at least one level so he can use Medkits).

Heinrix’s Best Warrior and Sanctioned Psyker Abilities and Talents

The first thing I did when building Heinrix was take note of Psyker-only Talents and abilities. These are differentiated from those that I would take for the Warrior class in general. Here’s what I prioritized:

  • Abilities:
    • Shield of the Emperor — All allies affected by Word of the Emperor gain increased deflection and armor.
    • Invigorate — Restores a target’s HP/wounds; removes all negative status effects if this action brings the target to full HP.
  • Talents:
    • Psy Rating — Be sure to upgrade your Psyker’s Psy Rating when possible, prioritizing it over other options. Increased ranks allow you to choose higher-level spells, too.
    • Biophysical Distortion — All attacks and powers deal damage each turn.
    • Hymns of Hatred — Critical hits scored by anyone within the Psyker’s line-of-sight (including the Psyker) also increase the Psyker’s critical hit chance until the end of combat.
    • Psalms of Heroes — +1 Psy Rating each time an ally uses a heroic act.
    • Pulse of Light — Whenever the Psyker heals themselves or another character with a power, this healing spell has a chance to critically hit.
    • Common Talent: Nimble — +10% bonus dodge.

Best Advanced Archetype for Heinrix

Here, I suggest choosing the Arch-Militant as Heinrix’s advanced archetype. This is due to the Psyker’s unique kit, where the character can use weapons or cast spells when attacking. As such, different attack types help increase versatility, a factor that improves the capabilities of the character. Here are the perks that I got:

  • Abilities:
    • Arch-Militant: Cautious Approach — Gain +5% dodge and parry for every stack of versatility; at four or more stacks, become immune to slowed, blinded, bleeding, toxin, stun, and prone effects.
    • Arch-Militant: Wildfire — The next attack costs 0 AP, doesn’t count towards the attack limit, and grants a versatility stack. This costs 4 AP initially, but is reduced by 1 AP for every four stacks of versatility.
    • Psyker: Hammer of the Emperor — Allies affected by Word of the Emperor gain extra damage to their next attack based on the caster’s Psy Rating and resolve.
    • Psyker: Sword of Faith (optional) — Strike with a sword that also has a frontal cone fire attack; has the same damage as Purge Soul coefficients, as well as bonuses from your equipped force weapon. This power can be used again with increased damage based on the caster’s resolve.
  • Talents:
    • Psyker: Blade of Light — Force weapon attacks deal extra damage and have more armor penetration.
    • Psyker: Destined — +5% increased armor; another 5% increase each turn in combat except the first.
    • Arch-Militant: Always Ready — Start combat with +2 stacks of versatility.
    • Arch-Militant: Armsmaster — Killing an enemy with a melee attack lowers the cost of ranged attacks made during the same turn by -1 AP, and vice-versa.
    • Arch-Militant: Critical Versatility — +3% critical damage for every stack of versatility.
    • Arch-Militant: Dependable — Gain +2% bonus armor for every stack of versatility.
    • Arch-Militant: Focal Point (if Abelard is your main tank) — Deal +15% more damage to enemies that have a priority target.

These are my suggestions when coming up with the best build for Heinrix in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader. Since you’ll turn Heinrix into a viable combatant, you might want to learn about builds for other companions such as Yrliet and Ulfar.
