Horizon Zero Dawn surprised fans with its melee style combat and robot dinosaurs when it was first announced at E3 2015. Guerrilla Games, who developed this new IP for Sony’s flagship console, was previously most well-known for Killzone — a first-person, twin stick shooter franchise.
Horizon puts you in the shoes of red-haired Aloy, who has to make her own way in the world after being cast out of her tribe — taking down rogue robots initially with just her bow and arrow and a wireless device which allows her to communicate with the machines…
Most trophies for this game are made available as you progress through the story, but completionists will need to complete side quests and challenges if they want to earn the coveted Platinum trophy. Update 1.03 also added a few trophies, alongside a harder difficulty level and a bug-fixing patch.
Things to Remember Before You Start
- The difficulty setting does not affect trophies – this means you can get all the trophies on Easy unless you’re opting to earn the trophy for completing the game on specific difficulty modes.
- You do not need to pick up the new DLC to earn the Platinum trophy.
- You can go back if you miss any of the collectables in the main story.
- Make sure you have fully updated the game online, as some trophies may glitch out and not register properly if you do not update to the latest version.

Story Trophies
Followed Rost’s Teachings (Bronze)
- Description: Learned to hunt and fight alongside Rost.
- How to Get It: Complete the Tutorial quests “A Gift from the Past” and “Lessons of the Wild”.
Defeated the Sawtooth (Bronze)
- Description: Defeated the Sawtooth that threatened the Nora.
- How to Get It: Complete “The Point of the Spear” quest.
- To kick this quest off, find and talk to Rost. After learning how to craft arrows, you will face the Sawtooth. Once you have destroyed it, talk to Rost again to earn this trophy.
Triumphed in the Proving (Bronze)
- Description: Overcame adversity and placed first in the Proving.
- How to Get It: Finish the “Mother’s Heart” and “The Proving” quests.
Fought Back the Corruption (Bronze)
- Description: Destroyed the corruption inside the Nora valley.
- How to Get It: Clear two corrupted zones and complete the “Seeker at the Gates” quest.
Victorious with the War-Chief (Bronze)
- Description: Found the Nora War-Chief and defeated the killers in the Ring of Metal.
- How to Get It: Complete “The War-Chief’s Trail” and the “Revenge of the Nora” quests.
Learned of the Ancient Past (Bronze)
- Description: Learned of the ancient past at Maker’s End.
- How to Get It: Complete the “City of the Sun” and “Marker’s End” quests.
Crashed the Eclipse Network (Bronze)
- Description: Infiltrated the Eclipse battle camp and crashed their network.
- How to Get It: Complete “The Grave Hoard” and “To Curse the Darkness” quests.
- You find out about Project: Zero Dawn and infiltrate the ruins of the U.S. Robot Command base. In the second quest, be sure to save at the campfire to trigger a cutscene and the rest of your objectives.
Discovered the Truth (Bronze)
- Description: Discovered the truth of Zero Dawn.
- How to Get It: Finish the “Dark Secrets of the Earth” quest.
Broke the siege of All-Mother (Bronze)
- Description: Defeated the invaders and went inside the sacred mountain.
- How to Get It: Complete “The Terror of the Sun” and “The Heart of the Nora” quests.
Recovered a Powerful Weapon (Bronze)
- Description: Explored the Mountain That Fell and recovered a powerful weapon.
- How to Get It: Finish “The Mountain that Fell” quest.
Saved Meridian From Its Foe (Bronze)
- Description: Helped Erend investigate Ersa’s fate, and foiled a plot against Meridian.
- How to Get It: Finish “The Field of the Erend” quest. Make sure you talk to Erend to get more objectives.
Ended the War Machine Threat (Gold)
- Description: Ended the threat of the ancient war machines.
- How to Get It: Finish the last story quest in the game, called “The Looming Shadow”.
- Before you embark on this quest, you will want to get all allies on your side for the final battle to obtain the “All Allies Joined” trophy (see below).
- After you complete the story, you can go back and do this quest as many times as you wish if there are a few collectable trophies you missed first time round.
- How to Get It: Finish the last story quest in the game, called “The Looming Shadow”.
Side Quest, Collectable, and Level-Up Trophies
Got the Shield-Weaver Outfit (Bronze)
- Description: Recovered an ancient technology and put it to use.
- How to Get It: If you have obtained 5 Power Cells in the main story, you can get this outfit by trading them in at the Ancient Armory.
Stealth Killed 10 Machines (Bronze)
- Description: Perform stealth kills on 10 machines
3 Strikes From Above (Bronze)
- Description: Killed 3 enemies using the Strike from Above skill.
Tore off 10 components (Bronze)
- Description: Detached 10 components from machines during combat.
Headshot 30 human enemies (Bronze)
- Description: Killed 30 enemies by landing headshots on them.
First Modification (Bronze)
- Description: Used a Weapon Coil or Outfit Weave on a modifiable weapon or outfit.
Reached Level 10 (Bronze)
- Description: Reached player level 10.
Reached Level 25 (Bronze)
- Description: Reached player level 25.
Reached Level 40 (Bronze)
- Description: Reached player level 40.
Reached Level 50 (Bronze)
- Description: Reached player level 50.
- How to Get It: In Horizon : Zero Dawn, you don’t need to grind like other RPGs. It’s possible to reach this level by doing the Hunting Ground Trials and some of the sidequests.
First Tallneck Overridden (Bronze)
- Description: Scaled a Tallneck and accessed its information.
- A Tallneck has a set path and Aloy can scale up it to get a vantage point and access its data. They are marked on the map by a blue dinosaur icon.
First Bandit Camp Cleared (Bronze)
- Description: Took back a settlement from a bandit clan.
First Core Overridden (Bronze)
- Description: Reached the Core of a Cauldron and accessed its information.
First Corrupted Zone Cleared (Bronze)
- Description: Killed all the corrupted machines in a Corrupted Zone.
First Vantage Found (Bronze)
- Description: Found and accessed a Vantage datapoint.
First Metal Flower Found (Bronze)
- Description: Discovered a strange metal flower.
First Banuk Figure Found (Bronze)
- Description: Found a wooden effigy left by a Banuk traveler.
First Ancient Vessel Found (Bronze)
- Description: Found an ancient vessel once used by the Old Ones.
All Vantages Found (Bronze)
- Description: Found and accessed all of the Vantage datapoints.
All Metal Flowers Found (Bronze)
- Description: Found all of the Metal Flowers.
All Banuk Figures Found (Bronze)
- Description: Found all of Arnak’s figures.
All Ancient Vessels Found (Bronze)
- Description: Found all the Ancient Vessels.
10 Vulnerable Machine Kills (Bronze)
- Description: Killed 10 machines weak to Fire while burning, or weak to Freeze while frozen.
- Sawtooths are vulnerable to Fire and Tramplers are weak to freeze.
Tore Off 5 Heavy Weapons (Bronze)
- Description: Detached 5 heavy weapons from machines during combat.
Downed 23 Grazer Dummies (Bronze)
- Description: Found and knocked over all of the Grazer training dummies in the Nora region.
All Skills Learned (Bronze)
- Description: Learned all available skills.
7 Types of Machine Overridden (Bronze)
- Description: Unlocked and used the overrides for 7 different types of machine.
All Acquisition Machines Killed (Bronze)
- Description: Killed at least one of every type of Acquisition machine.
All Recon Machines Killed (Bronze)
- Description: Killed at least one of every type of Reconnaissance machine.
All Combat Machines Killed (Bronze)
- Description: Killed at least one of every type of Combat machine.
All Transport Machines Killed (Bronze)
- Description: Killed at least one of every type of Transport machine.
All Suns at One Ground (Bronze)
- Description: Earned at least a Half Sun mark in all three trials at one Hunting Ground.
Blazing Suns at One Ground (Bronze)
- Description: Earned a Blazing Sun mark in all three trials at one Hunting Ground.

- Description: Scaled all of the Tallnecks and accessed their information.
Cleared All the Bandit Camps (Silver)
- Description: Took back all settlements from the bandit clans.
All Cores Overridden (Silver)
- Description: Reached the Core of every Cauldron and accessed the information within.
All Suns at All Grounds (Silver)
- Description: Earned at least a Half Sun mark in all trials at all of the Hunting Grounds.
Blazing Suns at all Grounds (Gold)
- Description: Earned a Blazing Sun mark in all trials at all of the Hunting Grounds.
All Corrupted Zones Cleared (Silver)
- Description: Killed all the corrupted machines in every Corrupted Zone.
All Machines Cataloged (Bronze)
- Description: Encountered and Focus scanned every type of machine.
Aided the Defectors (Bronze)
- Description: Aided the escapes of Uthid and the child king Itamen from the Shadow Carja.
- How to Get It: To get this trophy, you need to complete the “Traitor’s Bounty” and “Queen’s Gambit” side quests.
Hunted Redmaw with Talanah (Bronze)
- Description: Rose through the ranks of the Hunter’s Lodge and helped Talanah defeat Redmaw.
- How to Get It: You receive this when you complete all the quests at the Hunter’s Lodge.
All Allies joined (Bronze)
- Description: Given Aloy’s actions, all possible optional allies joined the defense.
- How to Get It: You need to do 11 side quests with other characters to collect this trophy.
All Trophies Obtained (Platinum)
- Description: Obtained all Horizon Zero Dawn trophies.
Trophies Added in Update 1.03
New Game + Completed (Bronze)
- Description: Completed a New Game+ playthrough on any difficulty.
Ultra Hard Completed (Silver)
- Description: Completed a New Game+ playthrough on Ultra Hard difficulty.
These new trophies are pretty self-explanatory – just finish the game on Ultra Hard Mode and in New Game+.
