It takes a lot of time to knock out all 72 of the substories in Like a Dragon: Ishin!, especially if you’re not sure where they are or how to complete them. In this guide we’re going to go over the substories introduced between Chapters 10 through 14, and luckily these are the fewest of the lot.
There are only 4 Substories spread throughout Chapters 10-14, but they’re a little more involved than normal. This guide will tell you about every Substory in Ishin!‘s later chapters, how to complete them, and the rewards you’ll get from each one.

32. Brawler Enlightened
Available in: Chapter 10
Location: Mukurogai First Floor, west of Paradise, same as in Substory 30 and 31
How to complete: Head back to the brawler for the brawl to settle it all. He’s tougher, but plenty doable by this point. Face him in combat for the last time.
Reward: Berserker Charm, 400 Virtue, the brawler shows up at HQ as an Epic Trooper Card
38. Precious Packages
Available in: Chapter 13, night, after completing Substory 71
Location: Kuramachi Fushimi, the northwest side of the street just north of Teradaya
How to complete: Ryoma’s sandal comes undone, and while he’s stopped to fix it, two men carrying packages crash into him (and each other). The packages are switched by accident, and you’ll have to go to Mukurogai to set things right. Head to the southernmost part of the riverbank located to the far east of Mukurogai’s first floor (the same place you found Satow in Substory 71). You’ll see the man who ran into you earlier chatting with another man, and a fight will break out. Once the fight’s over, select “No, I have to return this.” Return the package to the place this all started to finish this Substory.
Reward: Great Serpent Skin, 300 Virtue
71. Diplomacy in Darkness
Available in: Chapter 13, night, after finding at least 23 (88.42%) of the 26 memoirs
Location: izakaya north of Umai Udon
How to complete: Satow has been kidnapped and taken to Mukurogai. To get him back, head to the southernmost part of the riverbank located to the far east of Mukurogai’s first floor. You’ll see Satow surrounded by several samurai. Take them down.
Reward: 350 Virtue
72. A Lasting Thirst for Peace
Available in: Chapter 14 (finale), after having collected 25 of 26 (96.154% memoirs) and completed substory 71
Location: Bridge near Umai Udon in Fushimi
How to complete: Satow is leaving Japan soon, but wants to see one last thing in Gion before he leaves. Accompany him, but be ready for a fairly tough fight. Once everything’s settled, head back to the izakaya near Umai Udon to say goodbye.
Reward: Kiwami Hammer, A Letter from the Right Honorable E. Satow, 400 Virtue
Congratulations! If you’ve been following our guides, you’ve finished every Substory in Like a Dragon: Ishin! Return to Ryoma’s villa in Another Life and you’ll get a letter from Bakumatsu Bob telling you to come to Teradaya for a reward. Reading the letter grants you 1,000 Virtue. Meet Bakumatsu Bon in Teradaya to receive Ame-no-Murakumo, an epic sword that’s one of the best in the game.
