Minecraft: Netherite Scrap and Equipment Guide

How to get Netherite Gear, from Ancient Debris to Netherite Ingots.

Netherite is the new Diamond in Minecraft 1.16, so if you want the best tools, armor, and weapons, it’s time to start working towards Netherite equipment. To do that, you need to know how to get Netherite and that is via Ancient Debris.

Getting your hands on Netherite is a process unlike anything else in Minecraft so far. To make any sort of Netherite equipment, you need to have its Diamond equivalent first.

For example, you’ll need a Diamond Sword to make a Netherite Sword. We’ll go over that soon.

How to Get Netherite in Minecraft 1.16

Netherite does not spawn on its own. Instead, you’ll have to seek out Ancient Debris in the Nether to get what’s known as Netherite Scrap.

Ancient Debris is generally found deep in the Nether, and it can be troublesome to find. Not only that, but you must use a Diamond or Netherite Pickaxe to mine the Ancient Debris to get the brand new material Netherite Scrap.

You’ll get anywhere from one to three pieces of Netherite Scrap from a single Ancient Debris node. From here, you need to make them into Netherite Ingots.

How to Make Netherite Ingots

Since these are endgame pieces of equipment, crafting them is more complicated than just cobbling together some equipment!

In order to make a single Netherite Ingot, you need:

  • 4 Netherite Scraps
  • 4 Gold Ingots

This is just one step of the process, though; since you have to have Diamond equipment to proceed.

How to Make Netherite Equipment

You will obviously need a Smithing Table to craft this gear. This is easily done with two Iron Ingots and four of any sort of plank.

All of these recipes are essentially the same, and they require you have their Diamond equivalent to make.

  • Diamond Pickaxe + One Netherite Ingot = Netherite Pickaxe
  • Diamond Axe + One Netherite Ingot = Netherite Axe
  • Diamond Shovel + One Netherite Ingot = Netherite Shovel
  • Diamond Hoe + One Netherite Ingot = Netherite Hoe
  • Diamond Sword + One Netherite Ingot = Netherite Sword
  • Diamond Chestplate + One Netherite Ingot = Netherite Chestplate
  • Diamond Helmet + One Netherite Ingot = Netherite Helment
  • Diamond Leggings + One Netherite Ingot = Netherite Leggings
  • Diamond Boots + One Netherite Ingot = Netherite Boots

In total, you will need 36 Netherite Scraps and 36 Gold Ingots to make the entire set.
