Final Fantasy 16: How to Get Primitive Battlehorn

Our FF16 Primitive Battlehorn guide discusses how you can get this item by completing the Gobermouch Hunt.

The Final Fantasy 16 Primitive Battlehorn is an important crafting material, as it’s required to make the Gotterdammerung. However, the game doesn’t specifically tell you where to find it. Our FF16 Primitive Battlehorn guide discusses how you can get this item by completing the Gobermouch Hunt.

How to Start the Gobermouch Hunt

The Final Fantasy 16 Primitive Battlehorn comes from the Gobermouch Hunt (Rank A). This becomes available much later in the campaign after the Footfalls in Ash quest. Once you do see it on the Hunt Board, take note of the clue:

A rogue goblin has been sighted several times in the abandoned village of Eistla, presumably drawn by the stores left behind…

Where to Find the Gobermouch

With that in mind, it’s time to return to Eistla for the Final Fantasy 16 Gobermouch Hunt. Use the Eistla Obelisk, which is in the eastern portion of the world map. From the fast travel point, simply go across the street and head up the wooden steps. There, you’ll see the Gobermouch waiting for you.

How to Beat the Gobermouch for the Primitive Battlehorn

The Gobermouch has a couple of notable attacks:

  • Little Swing — Its weaker attack can be dodged, parried, or blocked.
  • Goblin Punch — This will go through your block. The good news is that it’s a frontal attack, which means you can dodge sideways.

One more factor of note is that your foe doesn’t have a Will Gauge, and, as such, you won’t be able to stagger it. In my case, I chained certain abilities, like Ignition, Flare Breath, and Impulse. Due to the rather cramped spaces, I was able to trap this creature in a corner while dealing a lot of damage.

You’ll receive the Final Fantasy 16 Primitive Battlehorn by defeating the Gobermouch. Aside from this, you’ll also get 4,800 XP, 15,000 gil, and 30 renown. The item itself is valuable since you need it to craft the Gotterdammerung, the strongest weapon in your initial campaign playthrough (i.e., not counting New Game+). Another armament you’ll need is the Ragnarok, so make sure to grab that as well.

In any case, that’s all you need to know about the Primitive Battlehorn and Gobermouch Hunt in Final Fantasy 16. For more tips and strategies, you can visit our FF16 guides hub.
