December is here, and that means new bugs for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Winter is typically a quiet season in Animal Crossing, but December sees some iconic bugs show up on northern hemisphere islands and some valuable ones in the southern hemisphere, as well.

Here are all the new bugs for December in Animal Crossing, plus where and when to find them.

Here are what the locations mean in the tables below so you have some more context:

  • Flying — These insects will be flying freely about the island.
  • Flying near flowers — These bugs prefer flowers, so make sure you’ve got a few planted to attract them.
  • On trees — These insects will be hanging out on tree trunks.
  • Rolling snowballs — Pretty self-explanatory. Once the ground is covered with snow, you’ll sometimes find a snowball moving of its own accord, or so it seems. Smack it with your bug net, and you’ll catch a prize.

December Bugs Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Northern Hemisphere)

Not much happens with the bug life in December, though the dung beetle makes its first appearance in the northern hemisphere.

December Bugs Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Southern Hemisphere)

December kicks off the summer months in the southern hemisphere, introducing all manner of bugs. Some are worth a fair few Bells, and you can expect to find them on Nook Miles Islands as well.
