Once you know how to unlock multiplayer in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, you’ll be able to ease the game’s difficulty just a bit. Team Ninja’s latest release is a mashup of Nioh and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice that gives the genre its own unique spin but the crushing difficulty remains.
Similar to Elden Ring, Wo Long lets you summon both AI co-operators and co-op companions from the internet to the battlefield. Online co-op multiplayer is a feature of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, but it’s not unlocked from the beginning. To access the multiplayer, you first have to conquer the game’s first skill check in the first chapter.
How to Unlock Multiplayer in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
You’ll unlock multiplayer after completing Part 1 of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Doing so requires playing the introductory level and beating the tricky first boss without help from other players. It’s similar to the steps needed for unlocking the ability to change your character’s appearance or resetting your stats.
The game is divided into “parts” that are broken out into different tabs in the travel menu. The first two parts of the game introduce you to the recruitment mechanic by giving you AI companions in these early missions.
Once you’ve finished a mission with a character, they’re available to recruit from any Battle Flag. It is not until the missions in Part 2 of Wo Long that the game allows you to recruit real online players from Battle Flags.
When you’ve reached this part of the game, you can access co-op multiplayer by going to any Battle Flag and resting, bringing up the menu where the Online Lobby option will be selectable. From there, you can recruit players to your game, play with friends, or invade others online. And, of course, you can gesture to those you’re playing with or against. Here’s how.
