Trials of Mana: How to Fight the Black Rabite

How to initiate a fight with the Trials of Mana superboss, the Black Rabite.

Players of the original Seiken Densetsu 3 will remember the sheer brutality of the original Black Rabite fight, and they won’t be disappointed with the effort it takes to bring down the little threat in Trials of Mana either.

The Black Rabite is the game’s super boss, and you can only face it once you’ve cleared the final bit of story and start moving into the postgame.

It’s up to you whether you decide to do other postgame content before taking on the Black Rabite. I personally recommend that you do the other postgame content first, and come to the fight with each of your character’s fourth class.

But before we get into that: Be aware that this guide contains spoilers! Continue at your own risk!

How to Reach the Black Rabite

You’ve got to find the Black Rabite statue to initiate the fight against this fearsome Level 83 ankle-biter.

Your main character will dictate where you can find the statue in your current playthrough. Check out below to find out where you need to go to find the Black Rabite statue:

  • Kevin and Charlotte can find the Black Rabite statue in the entrance to Mirage Palace
  • Angela and Duran can find the Black Rabite statue in the entrance to Crystal Desert
  • Hawkeye and Riesz can find the Black Rabite statue in the entrance to the Dark Palace

The fight is tough, as the Black Rabite can use more skills than you might expect and has a huge chunk of HP. You may go through all your healing items in the fight, so make sure you’ve got Candy, Chocolate, Honey Elixir, and even Poto Oil on your item ring.

For your efforts, you will receive a new chain ability: Obsidian Power, which lowers MP costs to zero and is perfect for a New Game+ playthrough where you just want to toss out spells for free.

If you’re already looking for the Black Rabite, you probably don’t need help finding ??? Seeds, but have a link to the guide anyway. Are you doing more playthroughs of Trials of Mana? Let us know in the comments below!
