The Code Vein best weapon tier list is meant to make it easier for you to find the best weapons in the game. With so many weapons available in Code Vein, it can be hard to pinpoint the best for your current build.
Overall, there are five types of weapons in Code Vein, most of which fall into the melee category (such surprise). Since those are the most powerful weapons in the game, this guide mostly covers those melee weapons, from swords to hammers. However, there is one especially useful bayonet included the nine weapons below.
Code Vein Best Weapons Tier List
Two-Handed Sword: Zweihander
- Attack: Slash
- Weight: 87
The most durable melee weapon in the game is undoubtedly the Zweihander. This two-handed sword was made to slay large monsters.
Although it may not be super effective during boss fights (since it’s a bit slow), it’s fantastic against regular enemies.
How to Get Zweihander:
Zweihander can be obtained either from the chest in the Ruined City Center or by paying 3,500 Haze to Rin Murasame, who is in front of the vault at Home Base.
Two-Handed Sword: Oni Bane
- Attack: Slash
- Weight: 78
Oni Bane is like Zweihander’s younger brother. It’s a little faster and just as brutal when it comes to damage.
This weapon is perfect for killing bosses and other mobile enemies. It matches very well with the Venous Claw blood veil.
How to get the Oni Bane:
You can get this weapon by grinding 50 trade points, and then giving them to Yakumo Shinonome, one of the three available companions at the Depths: Town of Sacrifice.

Two-Handed Hammer: Burned Warhammer
- Attack: Crush
- Weight: 72
Hammers are similar to greatswords in maneuverability, but their attack power, at times, can be far more devastating, especially with charged attacks.
The Burned Warhammer deals fire damage in addition to a physical attack, which can be really effective against certain types of enemies.
How to get the Burned Warhammer:
This weapon cannot be purchased. It can only be found in a chest located at the Razed Cityscape in City of Falling Flame. Mind, there are two Lost Assassins protecting the chest.
Two-Handed Hammer: Huge Hammer
- Attack: Crush
- Weight: 117
The Huge Hammer is not as fancy as the Burned Warhammer with its fire elemental damage, and it’s a lot heavier. Due to the raw physicality of this beast weapon, its overall attack power is twice as much as any other hammer in the game.
How to get the Huge Hammer:
You can’t buy this weapon from an NPC. If you want to get hold of it, you’ll need to descend into the Ashen Cavern at the Cathedral of the Sacred Blood.
One-Handed Sword: Enduring Crimson
- Attack: Slash/Pierce
- Weight: 34
If you don’t want a heavy weapon, such as the greatswords and hammers mentioned above, then you can focus on a Dexterity/Strength build and wield Enduring Crimson, arguably the best one-handed sword in Code Vein.
This weapon is exceptionally well-balanced. When paired with the proper blood veil, such as Prometheus, it’s extremely powerful.
How to get Enduring Crimson:
You can buy Enduring Crimson for 50 trade points from Louis, a companion in Area D-12 at Ruined City Underground.
One-Handed Sword: Hanemukuro
- Attack: Slash/Pierce
- Weight: 32
The only other sword that can match Enduring Crimson is Hanemukuro, which has even more mobility. However, it will fit only pure Dexterity builds.
Usually, the strategy is to use Hanemukuro in the early- to mid-game, and then switch to Enduring Crimson in the late-game.
How to get Hanemukuro:
It is found in the Bottomless Shore in Howling Pit. Go right at the mistle fork and at the end, you will see a chest guarded by a Lost. The sword is inside the chest.
Halberd: Bardiche
- Attack: Slash
- Weight: 52
Bardiche is a universal halberd for Dexterity builds. It is capable of carrying you through most of the game.
Bardiche has many upsides: it deals more damage than the one-handed sword, and it weighs a lot less than a two-handed greatsword.
How to get Bardiche:
This elegant weapon can be found inside a chest during the Track the Human Girl mission in Ruined City Center.
Halberd: Black Halberd
- Attack: Slash
- Weight: 50
Here is a similar option for hybrid Dexterity/Strength builds based on the Prometheus blood veil.
Black Halberd also fits Dark Knight with the Halberd Mastery passive ability, which will allow you to breeze through most of the bosses in the game.
How to get the Black Halberd:
This jet-black polearm can be acquired by grinding Lost Knight enemies. If you’re lucky, one will drop the Black Halberd near the Back Alley Mistle in the City of Falling Flame.
Bayonet: Riot Breaker
- Attack: Slash/Pierce
- Weight: 10
Bayonets are the weakest weapons in Code Vein, but they still can be meaningful in certain cases.
For example, Riot Breaker is a unique weapon because of its ability to spread shots like a shotgun. This means that you can use it for AoE sweeps and crowd control.
How to get Riot Breaker:
This weapon can be found only inside the Decayed Ship in Dried-up Trenches.
