Horses will not only protect you in combat, but also give you a serious XP boost even if you’re just riding them around. So getting a horse can be very beneficial for your character in Conan Exiles.

Where to Find Horses in Conan Exiles

Before taming a horse you need to find it first. Just like with any other mount in the game, first you need to locate a baby animal, which in the case of horses is a foal.

There are three types of foals in Conan Exiles:

  • Foal
  • Sturdy Foal
  • Swift Foal

You can find foals by the sources of water with a lot of grass. They are pretty frequent in these kinds of biomes, so you should have no trouble finding them.

How to Tame a Horse in Conan Exiles

Step 1: Feed Your Foal

When you find a foal, pick it up and bring it to your stable. Remember that you can ride a horse only if you’ve reached Level 20.

You need to feed your foal with various foods, which will make it grow into an adult horse. Some foods will make it grow faster than others. For example, the flower of Asura’s Glory is probably the best food for this purpose.

Step 2: Craft a Saddle

When your foal grows into a real horse, you need to craft a saddle. But before you will be able to craft one, you need to get the Novice Saddle-maker feat, which requires an Armorer feat.

You can get Armorer at Level 10 with Weaver and Stone Tools. Then, you can craft a Saddler’s Worktable, which has the following recipe:

  • 80x Wood
  • 5x Twine
  • 50x Leather

When your worktable is ready, you will get a Novice Warhorse Saddle for five points at Level 20. Then, when you reach Level 40, you can craft a Medium Warhorse Saddle, and at Level 60 you can finally get the Heavy Warhorse Saddle.

The recipes for each of these saddles are as follows:

  • Novice Warhorse Saddle:
    • 2x Twine
    • 4x Iron Bar
    • 5x Leather
  • Medium Warhorse Saddle:
    • 2x Twine
    • 4x Thick Leather
    • 4x Steel Bar
  • Heavy Warhorse Saddle:
    • 2x Twine
    • 4x Hardened Steel Bar
    • 1x Steel Reinforcement

When you equip a saddle on your horse, you can ride it and use it in PvE and PvP. However, you cannot enter dungeons while riding a horse. In that case it’ll have to wait outside.
