God of War: Ragnarok — Gale Flame Locations

Upgrade the Draupnir Spear to its max level by finding all of the Gale Flame locations in God of War: Ragnarok.

Each weapon in God of War: Ragnarok is associated with its own upgrade material, and the Draupnir Spear is no exception, using Gale Flames to become more powerful and useful. You will get the Draupnir Spear during the game's sixth story mission, Forging Destiny. Aside from being another part of your arsenal, the spear also helps you reach areas previously locked for exploration.

To upgrade the Draupnir Spear to Level 9, its maximum level, you will need to collect all four Gale Flames. This guide will tell you where to find all of the Gale Flame locations in God of War: Ragnarok.

Gale Flame Location #1

The first Gale Flame can be obtained during "The Spark of the World" objective in the 16th story mission "The Summoning". You will encounter the Hrist & Mist boss at Burning Cliffs in Muspelheim. Once the boss is defeated, he will drop your first Gale Flame.

Gale Flame Location #2

Your next target is one of Ragnarok's Berserker Gravestones; this specific Gravestone is found in Jarnsmida Pitmines in Svartalfheim. The easiest way to get there is via Aurvangar Wetlands, and then through Sverd Sands and The Applecore.

Once the Berserker spirit has been defeated, it will drop your second Gale Flame as a reward.

Gale Flame Location #3

To get the next Gale Flame, you will have to complete the "Nocturnal Predator" favor. Travel to The Plains in Vanaheim and collect the three Wisps at the location indicated on the map above. Once they're gathered, interact with the sigil in the middle and defeat the Flame Phantom boss, who drops the third Gale Flame.

Gale Flame Location #4

If you want to maximize your Draupnir Spear fully, you can collect the fourth Gale Flame once you capture all six Lindwyrms. These creatures appear out of portals indicated on the maps below. As soon as you capture the last Lindwyrm, you will be rewarded with the final Gale Flame.

For portals to appear, you need to start the "Lost Lindwyrms" favor, which can be initiated after completing the ninth story mission, "The Word of Fate". Travel to the Sindri's House, and speak to Ratatoskr, who will ask you to bring those creatures back.

Lindwyrm Location #1

Go to the Myrkr Tunnels in Svartalfheim, and sit inside a minecart that will take you to The Forge indicated on the map above. You will see the first portal on top of the cliff right above the passage in the rocks.

Lindwyrm Location #2

Arrive at the eastern pier of the Bay of Bounty, and use the bridge structures to enter Alberich Hollow in Svartalfheim. There, you have to defeat the Ormstunga mini-boss and enter the cave at the end of the path, indicated on the map above. The second portal is inside that cave.

Lindwyrm Location #3

Take your boat to the docks of Alberich Island in the northern portion of Svartalfheim. Climb the hill to your right, and use the wooden platform to jump onto the barge in front of you, which contains the third portal.

Lindwyrm Location #4

Use the same pathway to reach The Applecore in Svartalfheim, as when you've been obtaining the second Gale Flame.

Enter the tunnel indicated on the map above, and follow the path until you reach a spot where a pop-up appears on the screen informing you of "A Mystic Gateway". Then, turn left, and you should see the fourth portal.

Lindwyrm Location #5

To unlock the last two portals, you must first complete the "Scent of Survival" favor, which is available right after the 13th story mission, "Creatures of Prophecy". Once you arrive at The Crater in Vanaheim, head over to the spot indicated on the map for the fifth portal.

Lindwyrm Location #6

Finally, travel to the very edge of the cliff in the northwest of The Sinkholes in Vanaheim indicated on the map above, and capture the sixth Lindwyrm.

After that, go back to Sindri's House and speak to Ratatoskr, who will reward you with 4,500 XP for Kratos and 1,125 XP for Freya, as well as the last Gale Flame.
