Starship Troopers: Terran Command — How to Call Reinforcements and Heal Units

Call reinforcements and bring new units into the thick of the fray in Starship Troopers: Terran Command.

Starship Troopers: Terran Command is all about small-squad tactics. You won’t bother too much with armies and factions comprised of thousands of combatants. Instead, you’ll rely on pairs or groups of soldiers to get the job done. However, they can still incur losses, and you might need someone else with a particular specialty. In that case, you’ll need to know how to call in reinforcements and heal units.

How to Call Reinforcements and Heal Units in Starship Troopers: Terran Command

To call reinforcements and heal units in Starship Troopers: Terran Command, you’ll need to control an outpost/radio tower. When you click on the Radio Station, you’ll see the available units in the pool and a green circle denoting the dropzone.

Another option much later in the campaign is the Radio Operator. This unit is unlocked if you build a Support Center next to a radio tower (depending on the mission). Its default ability, “Assign Drop Zone,” does just that — you can mark a specific spot on the ground where dropships can ferry units.

Battlefield Resources

So, how exactly does it work? Well, first, you’ll need to take note of these tidbits seen in the bottom row of your screen:

  • Healing and Dropships — You have a default number of Dropship charges in each mission, though this can increase when you complete certain objectives.
    • If a unit takes a bit of damage (i.e., the colored bar to the left of its portrait is yellow or red), you can click on the “Request Reinforcements” button symbolized by a cross.
    • Then, move a unit to a dropzone and wait until it’s fully healed.
    • One Dropship charge is used each time you heal a unit. This recharges over time.
  • Unit Recruitment and Supplies — Supplies are white boxes seen on the minimap. Move a unit next to them and you’ll gain the resources.
    • Supplies are used to recruit more soldiers to your strike force, essentially acting as a unit cap.
    • If you’re at the limit and you don’t want to wait until a trooper dies, you can click on the “Disband Unit” button. Then, select a dropzone to remove that unit from the field. This will refund you with the Supplies that have been used up.
  • War Support — War Support determines specific actions, such as constructing special buildings and defenses. You can learn more in our War Support guide.

Calling in reinforcements is an easy, if very important, task against the Bug menace. To make sure more of your units survive, you’ll need to also understand True Line of Sight and True Line of Fire, else you end up with a horde of dead soldiers instead of bugs. Capturing a few outposts will help things, too.
