Elden Ring: How to Find Blaidd & Complete His Questline

Make friends with the best boy in Elden Ring, Blaidd with this guide to his questline.

Figuring out how to find Blaidd the Half-Wolf and complete his questline is one of the harder tasks in Elden Ring. One of the key NPCs in Ranni’s questline, he provides combat support and information about where to go and what to do throughout. Interacting with him is optional, but seeing his full quest and story has significant rewards: his greatsword, chest armor, gauntlets, and greaves.

How to Find Blaidd & Complete His Questline in Elden Ring

Blaidd’s questline offers a fascinating look at some of Elden Ring‘s wider lore and will help move Ranni’s quest along with advice from the Half-Wolf himself. He can help with some of the fights, as well. Here are the primary steps, with more detail to follow:

  • Meet Blaidd at the Mistwood Ruins.
  • Go to Forlorn Hound Evergaol to summon him.
  • Meet him at Ranni’s Rise.
  • Meet him at Siofra River.
  • Speak to Selvius and Sellen.
  • Return to Sifora.
  • Defeat Starscourge Radahn.
  • Return to Forlorn Hound Evergaol.
  • Complete Ranni’s questline.

Step 1: Meet Blaidd at the Mistwood Ruins

To start Blaidd’s questline, head to the Mistwood in the eastern portion of Limgrave. There, visit the Mistwood Ruins, and you’ll hear a wolf howling from somewhere, though there are no wolves in the area.

Return to the Church of Elleh and talk to Kale, then ask about the howling wolf in the Mistwood. He’ll chuckle and give you the Finger Snap gesture. Return to the Mistwood Ruins and use the emote in an alcove on the western side. Blaidd will jump down and say he’s looking for a man named Darriwil.

Note: It’s possible to meet Blaidd at Ranni’s Rise without first meeting him through this step, in which case I can confirm that Blaidd will no longer be at the Mistwood Ruins. He won’t be available until you meet him at Siofra River in Step 4 of the quest.

Step 2: Go to the Forlorn Hound Evergaol and Summon Blaidd (or Not)

The Evergaol near the Bridge of Sacrifice in the south of Limgrave, the Forlorn Hound Evergaol, is where you’ll find the location of Blaidd’s target: Bloodhound Knight Darriwil. Enter the arena, and you’ll see Blaidd’s summon sign on the ground, provided you talked to him previously.

Defeat Darriwil with or without the Half-Wolf, then either meet Blaidd outside the Evergaol or back at the Mistwood Ruins. Either way, he’ll congratulate you for defeating his target and reward you with a Somber Smithing Stone 2.

Step 3: Meet Blaidd at Ranni’s Rise

You won’t see Blaidd again until you join Ranni’s team during her questline. After entering her service, head downstairs to meet Blaidd and Iji. The Half-Wolf will be glad you’re a part of his crew and mention he’s also going to Nokron to search for the treasure.

Step 4: Meet Blaidd in Siofra River

Blaidd will be just to the north of the large temple (which you light the flame pillars for) near the Siofra River Bank Site of Grace. He’ll mention he has no idea how to get to Nokron and send you to see Selivus back in the Three Sisters area, in Selivus’ tower just south of Ranni’s.

Step 5: Speak to Selivus and Sellen

Selivus’s tower is in the southern region of Three Sisters. Talk to him there and mention Nokron to him. He’ll direct you to see the Sorceress Sellen in Limgrave and give you Seluvis’s Introduction. She’s at the Waypoint Ruins behind the Mad Pumpkinhead boss. Speak to her, show her the introduction, and she’ll mention you need to kill General Radahn to start Ranni’s fate in motion.

Step 6: Return to Siofra River and Update Blaidd

Blaidd will be happy to learn how you and he can work together to progress Ranni’s mission. He mentions the festival at Radahn’s Castle Redmane in eastern Caelid. Go to the castle, and climb the cliffs around its southwestern side to reach a cemetery with an Ash of War scarab and some enemies. Then climb up the nearby ladder into the castle itself.

Step 7: Defeat Starscourge Radahn

Follow our guide on how to defeat Starscourge Radahn, and you can also summon Blaidd’s phantom to assist during the fight. Doing so will make Blaidd appear near the area’s Site of Grace. He’s eager to go where the falling star struck the earth and enter Nokron.

Step 8: Go to Forlorn Hound Evergaol and Free Blaidd

No matter how hard you search (and believe me, I’ve tried), Blaidd is nowhere to be found in Nokron. Instead, he’s been imprisoned in the Forlorn Hound Evergaol. Head there, and you’ll hear his howl from within. You can speak to him through the gate of the Gaol, and he’ll ask to be released. You don’t have to do this step at all, though it does open up some dialog with Iji.

Step 9: Complete Ranni’s Questline and Return to Ranni’s Rise

Once you’ve given Ranni the Dark Moon Ring and she’s told you to walk the path of Lords, return to Ranni’s Rise to find Blaidd, who’s sadly gone insane. He’ll attack you without provocation, and while you can just leave him to his own devices, if you want his gear, you’ll have to kill him.

It’s not an easy fight, but if you defeat him, you’ll receive his armor and greatsword. Well, except for his mask, which you’ll find on the ruined ramparts behind Selivus’s Rise.

Run up the crumbled stone to the right of the entrance to Selivus’s Rise and follow it around. A corpse will have a shiny on it: the Black Wolf Mask. Though it’s not technically Blaidd’s, instead belonging instead to the Baleful Shadow assassins in Ranni’s quest. It is almost identical to Blaidd’s face, so for all intents and purposes, you can use it to look just like him.

That’s how to find Balidd and complete his questline. As I said, it’s a sad one that ends in you losing your best bud in the Ole Yeller style. You’re likely to find some things for Fia’s questline as you work with Blaidd, so follow our guide to her quest as well. Blaidd’s Royal Greatsword is a good choice of Strength/Intelligence builds, so make sure it’s up to snuff with our Bell Bearing guide. We’re not even close to being done with Elden Ring, so be sure to check our guides hub often for new info.
