Call of Duty has evolved so much since its inception in 2003. As part of Warzone's latest Season 4 update, you'll gain access to a slew of new features, one of which is called Cryo Dismemberment. This is a weapon effect that, as the name suggests, allows you to freeze and dismember your enemy's limbs. It's a little brutal, but par for the course for a Call of Duty game.

Acquiring Cryo Dismemberment is fairly straightforward, but there are some things you need to know about it. In this guide, we'll explain how to get Cryo Dismemberment in Warzone, along with other useful information about the effect.

How to Get the Cryo Dismemberment in Call of Duty: Warzone

How to Acquire Cryo Dismemberment

You have to buy the Wendigo pack in Warzone to get Cryo Dismemberment.

Unfortunately, there is no way to get your hands on Cryo Dismemberment without purchasing the Wendigo Operator Pack for 2,400 COD Points (equivalent to $19.99). Better start saving your points now if you want to get it!

The pack includes the following goodies:

  • Taiga  Kreuger Skin
  • Psychosis  Assault Rifle
  • Evil Manifest  Submachine Gun
  • Sasquach  Operator Finishing Move
  • Crevasse (Icepick)  Melee
  • Abominable  Charm
  • What they Send  Kreuger Quip
  • Polar Pal  Calling Card
  • Snowball Smiles  Emblem
  • Out in the Cold  Spray

As you can see, the theme of this pack is "cold." While the pack comes with a lot to enjoy, the two items you'll want to look out for are the Psychosis and the Evil Manifest blueprints, both of which come equipped with Cryo Dismemberment.

Which Weapons Support Cryo Dismemberment

Psychosis  FN Scar 17

The Psychosis assault rifle is one of the guns that uses Cryo Dismemberment in Warzone.

The first weapon blueprint that gives you access to Cryo Dismemberment is the Psychosis, which corresponds to the FN Scar 17. This is already one of the best weapons in the game, and the Psychosis blueprint gives it effective attachments and a bit of flare so you can take out the competition in style.

It includes:

  • Muzzle  Compensator
  • Stock  FSS Close Quarters Stock
  • Underbarrel  Commando Foregrip
  • Ammunition  30-round Mags
  • Rear Grip — Stippled Grip Tape

Its white finish and Abominable Snowman charm fit the theme, and it'll allow you to de-limb any of your enemies. This weapon is highly recommended for those who like to engage in medium-range combat.

Evil Manifest Stiker 45 (UMP)

The Evil Manifest is a UMP that uses Cryo Dismemberment in Warzone.

The second weapon blueprint that includes Cryo Dismemberment is the Evil Manifest, which is tied to the Striker 45 (aka UMP). Much like the Psychosis, this is one of the best weapons in the game, giving you a slow rate of fire in exchange for high damage, especially up close.

Here's what it includes:

  • Muzzle v Compensator
  • Barrel — 300mm Poly Barrel
  • Underbarrel  Operator Foregrip
  • Ammunition  45-round Mags
  • Rear Grip  FTAC 60 Series Rubber

Remember, you can swap out the attachments as you see fit, but overall, it's got a solid list. The 45-round mags are great for those who like to get into the thick of things, whereby you can take out multiple enemies in a row without reloading.

How Cryo Dismemberment Works in Warzone

There isn't anything you need to do differently in-game to use the Cryo Dismemberment effect. Simply fire at an enemy and the weapon will take care of the rest. After you get the kill, you can walk over to the body to see their limbs — or lack thereof.

This is a purely aesthetic effect, but one that you'll likely want to try since it's so over-the-top and brutal.

Warzone C4 Guide: How to Throw C4 Farther, Detonate It Faster Thu, 18 Jun 2020 13:08:16 -0400 JosephYaden

While playing Call of Duty: Warzone, you'll likely come across a myriad of weapons and equipment you don't normally use in the traditional multiplayer modes. That's sort of the beauty of Warzone. One piece of equipment you should absolutely learn how to use is C4, which can be used to set traps or just straight-up thrown at an enemy to take them out quickly and efficiently.

In this Warzone C4 guide, we'll show you how to find C4, how to throw it farther, and how to detonate it faster.

Warzone C4 Guide: How to Throw C4 Farther, Detonate It Faster

How to Get C4 in Call of Duty: Warzone

C4 can be found on the ground, in common boxes, and loadout drops in Call of Duty Warzone.

Unlike traditional Modern Warfare multiplayer, Infinity Ward doesn't let you spawn in with the loadout of your choice in Warzone, but that doesn't mean you can't get your hands on C4.

The easiest way to get C4 is to simply find it out in the world. You'll likely come across a stash of weapons and items in boxes, so make sure you initiate contracts to ensure finding the best loot.

C4 can be found in common boxes, as well as on its own in Verdansk. It's recommended to prioritize visiting buildings and other main hubs to try and find some. When you do find it, you have to manually pick it up with "Square" on PS4 or "X" on Xbox One.

Alternatively, you can equip your own loadouts from Loadout Drops that spawn. Just make sure you have C4 added to the class beforehand. Loadout Drops spawn randomly or can be purchased from Buy Stations, though they're pretty expensive.

How to Throw C4 Farther

Jump and aim at a 45-degree angle to throw C4 farther in Warzone.

After you finally do get your hands on the C4, you'll be ready to use it. It works a lot like a grenade, in that it can be thrown at an enemy, but it only detonates if you pull the trigger.

There are lots of ways to use C4 effectively, but most players treat it like a manual grenade thrown at an enemy and detonated right away. C4 does massive amounts of damage and, if used properly, can be more effective than a grenade since you can throw and detonate it immediately.

To throw C4 farther, jump in the air and look up at a 45-degree angle. This will allow the C4 to arc and cover more ground. Throwing it far isn't always necessary, though.

In fact, sometimes you'll need to throw it right beside you to take out an enemy. If you do, make sure you get out of the way since C4 has a large damage radius

One useful strategy is to place a C4 on a loadout drop in a heavily populated area and wait for the enemy to show up. It can be tricky to pull off, but if done correctly, it's pretty much a guaranteed kill. Traps like these work better in the traditional multiplayer mode, but can still be executed in Warzone

How to Detonate C4 Faster

You can instantly detonate C4 in Warzone by double-tapping Square (PS4) or X (Xbox One).

Initially, you might want to throw the C4 and detonate it by pulling the trigger. This can be done by throwing it with "R1" on PS4 or "RB" on Xbox One, followed by "R2" or "RT."

However, there is a faster, more effective way to secure the kill. If you double-tap "Square" on PS4 or "X" on Xbox One after throwing the C4, it will detonate instantly, which is much faster than pulling the trigger.

If you're going to use this method, make sure you wait until you're out of its blast radius, as you can down yourself with your own C4 if you're too close.

Call of Duty: Warzone Rumble Tips and Tricks Fri, 12 Jun 2020 18:17:51 -0400 JosephYaden

As part of Call of Duty: Warzone's most recent update (corresponding with Season 4 of Modern Warfare), players were introduced to a host of new features. One of which is the new Warzone Rumble game mode, which is described as "large-scale Team Deathmatch in areas around Verdansk." This mode is free to all users, so long as you have Warzone downloaded.

As you might expect, it plays differently than regular Team Deathmatch. For one thing, the maps themselves are pulled from sections of the larger Warzone stage  many of which don't necessarily lend themselves to head-to-head Deathmatch play (though there is a map built from the ground up with this game mode in mind).

Each match you play features a circular battle area, with a rotating set of predetermined stages to enjoy. Instead of the regular spawnpoint you'd see in traditional multiplayer, all players spawn in the air and must land using a parachute. This creates an interesting new spin on things that requires you to use a different strategy than you might be used to.

Since Rumble plays so differently from regular Deathmatch, you might be struggling to score a victory. Still, luckily, we've got plenty of Call of Duty: Warzone Rumble tips and tricks that will hopefully help improve your performance.

Call of Duty: Warzone Rumble Tips and Tricks

Get Used to Sniping

Sniping is a good alternative to close-quarters fighting, but is hard to do.

Most stage layouts in Rumble are near-tailormade for snipers. When you land, you can probably aim down your sniper scope and see at least one enemy in your sights, in almost any direction you look.

If you decide to go this route, it's recommended to come equipped with a thermal scope to spot enemies that are far away quickly. You'd be amazed at just how well you can do if you sit back, take your time, and pick enemies off from afar.

If you're more of a run and gunner, this might not be for you. But from our experience, a large portion of each team found success in sitting back with a sniper, rather than getting up close.

Come to Rumble Equipped with the Right Loadout

Bring the right loadout to Rumble for close-quarters fighting.

Not all maps are designed with only snipers in mind, though. Some sections force you into close-quarters encounters, so it's a good idea to come equipped with the right loadout.

Since there are so many enemies in a given area at once, it's not as necessary to come equipped with a suppressor. Likewise, if you're coming into contact with enemies at long distances, a shotgun might not be the best choice.

The point is that although these maps take place in huge open areas, there's room for experimentation with your weapons.

We had lots of luck with the FR 5.56 (FAMAS) since it features a deadly three-round burst, perfect for medium- to long-range shots. Additionally, the .357 Magnum with Snake Shot ammunition effectively turns a handgun into a shotgun, giving you a versatile loadout to come out on top.

Along with that, you should bring useful Field Upgrades to help you out. A Recon Drone won't be as valuable as Stopping Power Rounds since enemies are a dime a dozen, and having higher damage output is way more useful.

It's the same with Tactical Insertion since you can only spawn in the air. Try to gravitate towards Field Upgrades that directly impact your weapon, or possibly come equipped with a Trophy System to deflect throwables

Circle Around to the Enemy's Spawn

Encircle the enemy spawn point in Rumble for quick kills.

It's really easy to run right to the enemy ahead of you, but you'll likely find more success if you circle around to the enemy's spawn, alongside the edge of the map. It takes longer to do this, but your patience will pay off.

Since most players will focus on battling it out in the center of the map, you'll find less traffic along the edge, and you'll probably even come up behind certain foes. Take this opportunity to grab some easy kills, but be sure to stay in cover.

In Rumble, you spawn above and must land using a parachute, so your opponents will have the upper hand if you get too close to where they spawn. If you pick a good enough spot, you can pick off several enemies without the team even really knowing you're there.

Pay Attention to the Your Location on the Map

Use your map in Rumble to get your bearings.

Since the maps are massive circular areas, it can sometimes be hard to tell where you are in relation to the enemy's spawn You do have access to a mini-map, but things can blur together when trying to use it.

That's why it's recommended to press the pause button to view your location. Here, you'll see the map in its entirety, which will help you decide where you are in relation to your team and your enemies. This is a quick tip that can potentially get you out of trouble quickly.

Deploy Your Parachute Right Away

Parachuting early can help you survey the battlefield.

This is another quick tip, but it's still a great habit to get into. As soon as you gain control of your character, mash the button to deploy your parachute. This will keep you in the air for longer and give you much more space to land closer to your enemy. Or you can use it as an opportunity to scout the other team, or even land near a safe spot to set up shop.

Either way, we recommend avoiding free-falling since you'll cover less ground. You'll end up closer to your spawn and farther away from the enemy if you don't deploy your chute right away.

Equip the Right Perks

Picking the right perks is important in Rumble because some work better than others.

This is an expansion on one of the earlier tips in this guide, but it's so important it deserves its own entry. Make sure you come equipped with useful perks. Things like Kill Chain and Pointman are useless since there are no killstreaks in Rumble.

We recommend using Cold-Blooded to make it harder for enemies with thermal scopes to spot you, Overkill to give you a second primary weapon, and Amped to swap weapons faster.

There are obviously other perk combinations you can use. Just make sure you take note of them and pick ones that actually work since there are a handful of useless combinations.

Don't Forget About Vehicles

Don't forget Warzone has vehicles. Use them.

Rumble features vehicles, and they're usually found by your spawn. If you do happen to free fall right to the ground, there's probably a vehicle around for you to jump in. Just make sure you don't drive it directly to a densely populated area, as you'll be a sitting duck.

The Smoke/Thermal Scope Combo Does Wonders

Use smoke grenades and thermal scopes in tandem to get kills in Rumble.

Combing a smoke grenade and a thermal scope in Rumble almost feels like cheating. From one smoke grenade, we were able to pull off five kills against enemies who had no idea we were even there. This is especially useful when you pinpoint a highly-populated area, where enemies congregate.

Some foes might catch on and equip their own thermal to combat you, but for the most part, this is an extremely effective strategy that almost guarantees kills if you're moderately decent with a sniper.

CoD Warzone Fennec and CR-56 Amax: How to Get Them Fri, 12 Jun 2020 17:33:59 -0400 Daniel Hollis

If you've been playing Call of Duty: Warzone recently, you're probably aware of the recent update that released alongside Modern Warfare Season 4, which brings new maps and modes to the game's battle royale component. But most importantly, Season 4 adds new toys to the game's arsenal in the Fennec and CR-56 Amax.

Since most of your time in Call of Duty: Warzone is spent chasing down your enemies, you'll undoubtedly want more weapons in your arsenal to deliver the pain. Luckily, the update adds a few new guns to get to that end, but unlocking them is not as easy as simply downloading the new update.

How to Get the CoD Fennec and CR-56 Amax in Warzone

The CoD Warzone Fennec unlocks at Season 4 Battle Pass Level 15.

Getting the Fennec and CR-56 Amax in Call of Duty: Warzone requires a little bit of time, but nothing too major. Both are machine guns; the Fennec is described as being an "aggressive auto sub-machine gun" while the CR-56 Amax is said to be a "lightweight full-auto assault rifle."

To unlock both of these guns, you're going to need to progress through the Warzone Battle Pass ranks, which is a tiered leveling system gifting players new items and unlocks as they progress.

The first gun you'll be able to unlock is the Fennec, which is available once you reach Battle Pass Level 15. The CR-56 Amax will be available at Battle Pass Level 31. Once both have been unlocked, you'll be able to add them to your loadouts and use them on the battlefield.

Ranking through the Battle Pass is as simple as getting kills, completing challenges, and assisting teammates. The more XP you receive per match, the quicker you'll obtain the Fennec and the CR-56 Amax.

The CoD Warzone CR-56 Amax unlocks at Season 4 Battle Pass Level 31.

Call of Duty: Warzone Contraband Contracts Guide Fri, 12 Jun 2020 11:44:41 -0400 JosephYaden

As part of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Season 4 update, its battle royale component, Warzone, has gotten some new content, as well. One of the new additions is Warzone Contraband Contracts, which offer players a unique way to earn loot and goodies to help survive against the enemy.

However, Warzone doesn't do a great job of explaining how the new contracts work. In our Contraband Contracts guide below, we'll explain what they are, how to initiate them, and how to complete them effectively.

Call of Duty: Warzone Contraband Contracts Guide

Accepting a Most Wanted contraband contract in Call of Duty Warzone.

What are Contraband Contracts?

Contraband Contracts are a new type of Contract in Call of Duty: Warzone. Specifically, they give you the chance to earn a new weapon blueprint by collecting the contraband and delivering it to the LZ. It's similar to delivering cash in the Plunder game mode.

The blueprint will then be added to your list, giving you new weapon types to try out later on. These weapon blueprints are exclusive to Contraband Contracts, so if you want a new shiny weapon to show off to your friends, you'll need to complete these contracts.

How to Find Contraband Contracts in Warzone

Contraband Contracts are marked with a blue icon with an arrow in Warzone.

Finding Contracts isn't too complicated, but you'll need to have some patience. Unfortunately, they only appear as random drops after completing a regular contract, so make sure you complete as many as possible.

In our first game in Season 4, we had to complete two contracts before a Contraband Contract appeared. After that, we completed four contracts and couldn't get one to spawn. In other words, it truly is random.

You'll be able to spot a Contraband Contract by an icon indicated by a blue arrow pointing up. It will appear as a blue box, so grab it to start the contract.

If you're having trouble, it's recommended to work with a team to complete the easier contracts like Scavenger Hunt and Recon. If you're really good at the game, you may be able to blow through the Bounty Hunter contracts, but those are far more skill-dependent.

We had much better luck when the whole team was working towards completing contracts, as opposed to going solo.

Keep in mind, other players can take you out and steal your Contraband Contract, and vice-versa. If you're an aggressive player, this might be the best way to go about obtaining one.

How to Complete Warzone Contraband Contracts

You'll need to drop contraband contracts off at the helicopter after it lands at the LZ.

The hardest thing about Contraband Contracts is actually finding them. Once you've initiated the contract, you'll be tasked with delivering the contraband to the LZ, where a helicopter will land and collect it. Do it quickly, because other players can steal it from you.

Once you get to the LZ, you'll need to drop off the goods and wait for the chopper to arrive. Make sure you're in a safe place where you can not only watch the chopper, but also other enemies who may be scouting you out. When the chopper arrives, run up to the LZ and interact with it once more to acquire a sweet new blueprint.

You'll need to go back to the main menu to equip it, just like with other blueprints.

How to Fix Call of Duty Warzone Memory Error 13-71 Mon, 11 May 2020 11:36:26 -0400 Daniel Hollis

There's nothing better than settling down for an evening of Call of Duty Warzone with your friends to fight it out and be the last team standing. So nothing is more infuriating than being hit with Memory Error 13-71. The error essentially makes the game unplayable, preventing you from entering its online components and bricking the game.

Multiple users have reported hitting this issue, all airing their frustrations on forums and comments sections as Activision hasn't yet managed to permanently identity and fix the issue.

Many say that the issue has to do with Regiments, which essentially are the game's version of clans. But don't fret: There are a few methods that can help you get passed the error and have you dropping back into the action in no time.

How to Fix Call Of Duty Warzone Memory Error

How to Fix Memory Error 13-71: Option 1

The above video from Gaming Gameplay details one of the ways in which you can potentially bypass the error, which includes using a second account. A simple outline of the method goes like so:

  • Create a new account with a different email address.
  • Load up Call of Duty Warzone while logged into this new account.
  • Proceed to the multiplayer menu (the error message shouldn't appear).
  • Once in, switch accounts on your console to the one you wish to play with.
  • Now, leave the regiment that you're associated with.

You should now be ready good to go. It's also worthwhile enabling the option to block regiment invites to be safe. Hopefully, this works, but if the issue is still affecting you, there are a few other methods that might work.

How to Fix Memory Error 13-71: Option 2

This option is similar to the first one and ensures that you leave your regiment, albeit through different means.

  • Load up Call of Duty Warzone.
  • Proceed until you receive the error message.
  • Accept the error message.
  • Once accepted, the game will attempt to put you online
  • At this point, cancel it.
  • Two options appear: Retry or Go Offline. Press Go Offline.
  • Go to the account option and disable cross-play.
  • Boot up Call of Duty Warzone again.
  • When it asks you to enable cross-play, ignore it.
  • Go to the regiments tab.
  • Leave your regiment.
  • Disable invites again.
  • Now allow cross-play and Call of Duty Warzone should now be working.

If this still isn't working for you, there's one last option that isn't ideal, but some users have reported that it has rectified the issue.

How to Fix Memory Error 13-71: Option 3

This option is simply deleting the game off your system and redownloading the whole game again. It's a hefty task, with a file size larger than most games, but users have tried this as a last resort and reported that it's fixed the problem.

While it's not an immediate fix, it's always a good idea to report the issue to Activision in the hopes for a patch or fix within the coming weeks. The more reports they receive, the more likely they are to patch the issue faster.

If this Call of Duty memory error has affected you or you've found another workaround, let us know in the comments below!

How to Fix Call of Duty Error Code 263234 Fri, 13 Mar 2020 15:31:44 -0400 Ty Arthur

Getting error code 263234 when trying to connect to an online match in either Modern Warfare or the free Warzone Battle Royale spin off? It's a frequent problem for console players looking to jump into plunder, domination, or even a standard deathmatch. The annoying 263234 bug also tends to appear in conjunction with Call Of Duty error code 262146, which indicates a similar connectivity issue.

While forums are filled with questions about these codes, there's been no direct answer from Activision's support on how to resolve the issue (and it's been around a while), so you'll have to get a bit creative and try out a few troubleshooting steps.

How to Fix Call Of Duty Error 263234

Getting Error Code 263234 in CoD Warzone indicates connectivity issues.

Both error code 263234 and error code 262146 indicate a problem somewhere between your device and the Call Of Duty servers. There are several different potential culprits along the path from your console to those servers, so let's get started.

Log Out and Log Back In

The first (and easiest) potential fix is to just log out of your Xbox One or PS4 profile, then immediately log back in to the same profile. In many cases, this simple action will flush out the problem and get you connected in a very short period of time.

Power Cycle Console

When logging out fails and you still get booted from a Call Of Duty match with an error code, the next step is to perform a full console restart.

You can't simply turn the console off and then back on again, as most players have their Xbox One or PS4 set to go into standby or sleep mode, rather than fully turning off.

For the Xbox One, tap the middle X guide button on the controller (don't hold it down), then scroll over to System. From there, go down and select Turn Off Console.

For the PS4, hold down the middle Playstation button until the side menu pops up. Scroll down to Power and select the Turn Off PS4 option (not the Enter Rest Mode entry at the top).

From there, turn your console back on and try to enter a match again. If that doesn't work, its time to move onto the next step between your console and the servers.

Power Cycle Network Equipment

You may be hitting a snag with either your router (whether you are connected via wireless or with an Ethernet cable) or the modem that connects your devices to the wider internet.

To check this step, power cycle both your modem and then your router by fully unplugging them, waiting 15 seconds, and then plugging them back in.

Restart your console again and give another online Modern Warfare or Warzone match a shot to see if the problem is resolved.

Return to Factory Settings

If all of that fails, there is a final, more drastic solution that has worked for some players. To fully clear out any potential logjams between you and the server, you're going to return your console entirely back to factory settings. Yes, that means losing any data saved directly to the Xbox One or PS4 hard drive.

After this process, you will need to reinstall all your games, although it's unlikely you will lose any save files or screenshots, as most of that gets automatically backed up to the cloud.

For Xbox One, tap the middle X guide button, and navigate through System > Settings > System > Console Info. From there, select Reset Console and then Reset And Remove Everything.

For PS4, tap the middle Playstation button to return to the home screen and then scroll over to Settings. From there, navigate to Initialization > Restore Default Settings and follow the prompts to complete the reset.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Prestige Guide Thu, 14 Nov 2019 13:51:29 -0500 John Schutt

Prestige in Call of Duty Modern Warfare has changed. In the soft reboot of the franchise, we now have Officer Ranks. This Modern Warfare tips guide will walk you through what you need to know, including the level at which you "prestige" — or move from Enlisted Rank to Officer Rank.

Of course, reaching maximum Prestige has been one of the calling cards of any hardcore Call of Duty player since the system first appeared in Call of Duty 4. The system garnered a loyal following, and each year since the release of at least Modern Warfare 3, influencers gathered together to race their way to max level.

How to Prestige and Enter Officer Ranks

However, that changed with 2019's entry to the franchise. There is not a traditional Prestige system in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Instead, once you reach Enlisted Rank 55 by playing well or grinding (whichever term you prefer), you enter Officer Ranks, a seasonal system separate from Enlisted Rank, the base leveling system.

Here are the basics:

  • Officer Ranks last only as long as their season, resetting at season's end and leaving you at Enlisted Rank 55.
  • You will never lose your Enlisted Rank, meaning so long as you reach the base level cap of 55, you will never go below that rank.
  • Because you can never go below level 55, you will never lose access to any of your weapons, challenges, camos, streaks, or anything else you earned on your way there.

Previously, the draws of going through each prestige level rank were the various cosmetic upgrades and class unlocks you nabbed along the way. That's not to mention the general fun of going through the equipment trees again.

While you'll never lose access to weapons, attachments, or perks with the Officer Ranks system in Modern Warfare, you could simulate the process by taking everything off and playing with your guns naked. Not that you'd want to, but the option's there.

What Do You Get with Officer Rank Prestige?

Even with the loss of some progression systems, you'll still have content to chase after. All the standard challenges remain.

  • There are still hundreds of weapon camo skins to grind for.
  • You're not likely to have every weapon at max level by Enlisted Rank 55, so you'll be missing a ton of attachments you can acquire in Officer Rank.
  • Daily challenges and long-term missions for XP, weapon blueprints, emblems, watches, and more are still available

Each Officer Rank season will also carry with it new unlocks, blueprints, maps, events, and other content that will become available over time.

Officer Challenges and Emblem Progression

As of writing, two of the main grindable elements found in Officer Ranks are the Officer Challenge and Emblem progression. Completing one challenge earns you a seasonal Ribbon, and when you collect 10, you'll nab a Season Emblem.

As you continue completing Officer Challenges, you'll keep collecting ribbons, and every 10 allows you to upgrade your Season Emblem one step. Reach 100 Ribbons, and you'll max out your emblem, evolving it to an animated version that signals your mastery of the season.

What's Already Dropped Since Release?

Right now, we've seen one large content drop, bringing:

  • Two free multiplayer maps
    • The small, frantic Shoot House and Ground War's Krovnik Farmland.
  • An additional game mode into the Quick Play rotation
    • Hardpoint.
  • Plenty of weapon tweaks via patching.

As of now, that's all you need to know about how to prestige in Call of Duty Modern Warfare, as well as at what rank you can expect to unlock the "prestige" Officer Ranks.

The developers at Infinity Ward promise much more to come as the year goes on. Time will tell if the content will be worth continued player investment, but for now, things are moving at a healthy pace.

How to Find Hardcore Modes in Call of Duty Modern Warfare Wed, 06 Nov 2019 11:23:26 -0500 John Schutt

Wondering how to find hardcore modes in Call of Duty Modern Warfare? So were we.

The soft reboot has more game modes than you might think. Not all of them are unlocked at this point, but modes like Hardpoint, Headquarters, and others exist in the game. So do several Hardcore game types, particularly Team Deathmatch and Domination. Trouble is, they aren't immediately apparent in the menus.

This guide will walk you through how to find the Hardcore game modes and give a quick rundown of what's different in Modern Warfare's Hardcore mode.

How to Find Hardcore Game Modes in Call of Duty Modern Warfare

From the main screen, you'll want to open the Filter menu next to the QuickPlay button.

This will open the QuickPlay Filter. There isn't any clear way to open or even select a Hardcore match. Instead of a clear menu button allowing you access the mode, you have to change the Selected Category at the top of the menu:

The top selection in the filter menu lets you select hardcore modes.

Once you press the corresponding button, your QuickPlay Filter menu will change completely, showing you all your options for Hardcore.

That's it. Select the Hardcore game mode(s) of your choice, click QuickPlay, and you'll load into the next available lobby.

What's Changed in Hardcore in Call of Duty Modern Warfare?

There are a lot of changes to the multiplayer experience in Hardcore, but there are several that make a huge difference.

Reduced Health

If you thought you died quickly in core, Hardcore's about to show you a whole new world of pain. Historically, core game modes have your health capped at an even 100. In Hardcore, that's reduced to 33.

That means one hit from almost any weapon results in a kill from medium distance and closer. SMGs suffer slightly from longer ranges, but the meta weapons  by which I mean the M4A1  are a one-shot from almost any range.

Reduced HUD

There is no minimap, score counter, ammo counter, or red player names. You will have your compass, but that's about it. You can check the score by pulling up the full scoreboard, of course. Just don't count on knowing where your enemies are half the time or if you even have enough bullets to fight.

No Killcams

Wondering where that guy at the edge of the map killed you from?

Keep wondering.

On death, you'll zoom out above the map, then quickly respawn wherever the game feels like putting you. Your foe still has their hidey-hole, and you've got to reenter the fray.

Embrace the Camp

Because everything is riskier in hardcore, neither you nor your enemies have any incentive to play aggressive. Crouch walking is everywhere, holding sightlines is the power play, and claymores rule the day (even more than usual). You need to check your corners, hold angles of your own, and generally keep a close eye on every direction.

Everybody else is.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Screen Tearing Fix Guide Wed, 06 Nov 2019 11:13:19 -0500 Serhii Patskan

In general, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has performed well since release. However, that doesn't mean it hasn't run into a few pesky bugs along the way. Increasingly, PC and Xbox One X players have noticed screen tearing during cutscenes and gameplay.

If you've been affected, there are a few solutions that may work to fix the issue. Undoubtedly, Activision will eventually release an official patch, which should fix the problem once and for all. But until that happens, try out the methods listed below.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Screen Tearing Fixes for PC and Xbox One X

Method 1: Turn on Vsync on PC

If your PC has an Nvidia graphics card, then you can use the Nvidia control panel to turn on Vsync. Though many players usually turn Vsync off to increase FPS, turning it on could fix your screen tearing issue.

  1. Start Nvidia Control Panel
  2. Go to Manage 3D Settings tab
  3. Select Vertical Sync in the list
  4. Choose Force from drop-down menu

In this case, Vsync it forces your monitor to display the correct amount of frames, and thus, prevent the screen from "tearing." However, you will have to sacrifice higher FPS for a smooth picture.

Be sure to cap your FPS to the refresh rate of your monitor, such as 60fps for a 60Hz monitor.

Method 2: Change Screen on Xbox One X

The solution for Xbox One X is similar if a bit more complicated. Since there is no option on the console to activate Vsync, the problem can be fixed by connecting your console to a screen that supports at least 120Hz display frequency.

Most modern TVs have a 120 Hz mode. So, in this case, go into your TV's settings and turn it on. Since the default setting is almost always 60 Hz, switching the value to 120 Hz should eliminate screen tearing.

If your TV doesn't support high refresh rate, then wait for a new patch that should enable eliminate the issue.

How to do Finishing Moves in Call of Duty Modern Warfare Tue, 05 Nov 2019 10:23:33 -0500 Serhii Patskan

Did you know that you can perform execution finishing moves to kill any opponent with a single attack in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare? Though you have to be fast to pull off an execution, this guide shows you how to do it.

Executing your enemies can be done whether you're carrying a knife in your hand or not. However, you'll need to be quiet and stealthy to pull it off.

How to Perform Execution Finishing Moves in Call of Duty Modern Warfare

Before you can perform an execution, you need to get behind your enemy and get as close as possible. Be as quiet as possible when sneaking up on them.

When you get very close, press the melee attack button, which is attached to the Right Thumbstick on consoles and the "E" key on PC by default. Hold the melee key until you finish the execution.

During the execution, the camera will pan out to a third-person perspective, showing you all the gory details.

Tips For Executing Your Enemies

It is often hard to approach an enemy from behind without getting caught in the act. So here are a few important tips on how to improve your execution skills.

  • Watch out for campers, as they are the best targets for executions
  • After you spot the right target, approach slowly using crouch
  • If an enemy manages to detect you, still try to make it work by circling them and getting on their backside
  • If your reaction is fast enough, you'll get a split-second window to perform an execution

Like any other skill in Modern Warfare, this is one that requires a lot of practice. If you want to master this finishing move, do it as often as you can.

Now you know how to perform execution finishing moves in Call of Duty Modern Warfare. For more Call of Duty: Modern Warfare guides, see the list below:

How to Increase FPS in Call of Duty Modern Warfare (PC) Tue, 05 Nov 2019 09:56:03 -0500 Serhii Patskan

Editor's note: A previous version of this guide suggested that players edit their system files for increased FPS. We've received reports that this will result in a perma-ban for players. We have removed the section in question to avoid further confusion. The original guide follows.

Every Call of Duty: Modern Warfare player wants to run the game at as high a framerate as possible. The difference between 60fps and 30fps in Modern Warfare multiplayer is literally a difference between life and death. This Call of Duty guide will help you set your desired FPS boost on PC through a very delicate graphics settings pattern.

Follow the instructions below to get the highest possible framerate.

How to Increase FPS in Call of Duty Modern Warfare

Step 1: Set Custom Framerate

One of the biggest mistakes that many players do is set their framerate to Unlimited. The problem is that this setting is only good for high-end PCs that can handle this type of setting. But if your machine is not on par with the latest gaming PCs, then it's time to set a custom framerate.

  1. Go to Graphics Settings
  2. Select Custom Framerate Limit
  3. Set Gameplay Limit at 144 max
  4. Set Menu Limit at 60 max
  5. Set Out of Focus Limit at 30 max

These settings will make sure that your graphics card will have enough bandwidth to provide you with a high framerate and at the same time, not burn out by trying to go well above 200 FPS.

For example, if you have a monitor with a 60Hz refresh rate, there's no reason to set your custom framerate above 60fps.

Step 2: Save Your VRAM

The next step involves saving some of your video memory (VRAM). You can do so by following these steps:

  1. Set Display Mode to Fullscreen
  2. Set Render Resolution to 100
  3. Set V-Sync to Disabled
  4. Set Texture Resolution to Normal
  5. Set Shadow Map Resolution to Normal
  6. Set DirectX Raytracing to Disabled
  7. Set World Motion Blur to Disabled
  8. Set Weapon Motion Blur to Disabled

That's all you need to know about increasing your FPS in Modern Warfare. For more Call of Duty: Modern Warfare guides, check out the growing list below:

Call of Duty Modern Warfare: Installing Shaders Error Fix Wed, 30 Oct 2019 10:25:41 -0400 Serhii Patskan

The latest installment of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been experiencing issues with its installation process. Many players report that during the first installation, the game sticks at the "installing shaders" step. This guide will give you a few tips on how to fix the "installing shaders" error.

But even if you manage to install the game, the bug can return and pop-up during gameplay, which can be fixed only when Activision releases an official fix to the problem.

Method 1: Restart Installation

Many players whose installation process got stuck at the "installing shaders" stage report that a simple restart of the installation helped.

Here's how you can do it efficiently:

  1. Cancel the installation
  2. Go to launcher
  3. Select Modern Warfare
  4. Click on Options tab
  5. Press Scan and Repair
  6. Install the game

This simple solution should help you go through the "installing shaders" step a second time. Hopefully, you won't get stuck again.

Method 2: Lower Your Graphics Settings

If the dreaded message pops up during gameplay, you can simply reduce your graphics settings to "Low" or "Medium" for a time being. When Activision releases the actual fix, you can return to your desired settings.

If you don't want to reduce your graphics settings, then you can follow these steps to turn off the message:

  1. Go to Campaign menu
  2. Press "I understand"
  3. Start a story mission
  4. Select Pause Installation
  5. Return to gameplay

This bit doesn't solve the problem; instead, it simply postpones it. But at least you can keep your graphics settings intact. You will also be required to do this every time you play the game before the issue gets fixed by the developer.
