Tired of your crops and trees always dying in Hay Day? Well, there's a simple way to keep your plants going, and it'll involve a little help from your friends.

As you're scrolling around your farm, you may notice some of your plants dying -- as indicated by them changing color to something more sickly and looking a bit more ratty than usual.

If you want to save your precious plant, give it a poke and see what options come up. If the only option that arises is an axe, you've waited too long -- and unfortunately, that plant has to go. But if a sign with an exclamation point shows up, you're in luck! That plant can still be saved, and you won't have to slice and dice it. Here's what you need to do.

How to Revive Trees in Hay Day

If you get that life-saving exclamation point, drag it over to your chosen plant to pop a sign in the ground next to the tree. Upon doing so, other players who visit your farm can tap on your fainting flora to revive it for you.

If you want, once you've planted the sign next to your plant pal, you can poke it again and another option will show up, this time one that looks like a megaphone. Using this one will let you make a post about the problem you're having on your Facebook wall, hopefully enticing friends who also play the game to come visit and save your saddened shrubs.

If they do drop by to help, you'll see your plants revived -- along with a new sign displaying the avatar of the person who saved it.

Hooray, your plants get to live on another day!

Make sure to thank the person who saved your seeds by tapping on the sign, which will send them a thank you note. Aren't friends great?

Now that you know how to revive your plants before they kick the bucket, make sure you keep an eye on them to get those exclamation mark signs on them before it's too late. If you do, you can keep your farm happy and healthy for a long time to come.

That wraps up this quick guide on reviving trees and plants in Hay Day! If you need more help with this farming game, check out the rest of our Hay Day guides here on GameSkinny:

Hay Day Guide: How to Collect Puzzle Pieces for Wildlife Sanctuary Animals https://www.gameskinny.com/6xa3q/hay-day-guide-how-to-collect-puzzle-pieces-for-wildlife-sanctuary-animals https://www.gameskinny.com/6xa3q/hay-day-guide-how-to-collect-puzzle-pieces-for-wildlife-sanctuary-animals Thu, 29 Jun 2017 12:48:11 -0400 Tobbpitt

Hay Day's latest update, which includes the Wildlife Sanctuary, adds even more animals to your menagerie. But there's a catch: You have to collect their puzzle pieces to unlock them.

Unlike the other animals you tend to in Hay Day, those in the Wildlife Sanctuary are wild animals and cannot be bought. The hunt is on for puzzle pieces, but they are certainly hard to find. They aren't given out often and you can only get them in certain ways...which we'll go over soon enough.

But first let's go over which animals you can get in this latest update and why you want them. 36 puzzle pieces is a lot to collect for just one animal -- but for completionists and anyone looking for extra EXP, they are worth it.

Unlockable Wildlife Sanctuary Animals in Hay Day

There are only three unique types of animals available for the Wildlife Sanctuary at the time of writing, all three of which come with two color variations. And each one also unlocks two decorations to spruce things up a bit.

Each animal needs a particular housing to be present in the Sanctuary. Hippos need the Hippo House, elephants need the Elephant House, and giraffes need the Giraffe House.

What do you get after you've gone through all the trouble to collect their puzzle pieces and build their homes? 25 EXP each every 10 hours, provided you check on them. That's not too shabby!

Brown Elephant
Unlocks Dry Logs and Tall Grass

Gray Elephant
Unlocks Baobab Trees and Termite Mounds

Brown Hippopotamus
Unlocks Rock Ponds and Short Bushes

Gray Hippopotamus
Unlocks Aloe Plants and Palm Trees

Beige Giraffe
Unlocks Lala Palms and Rock Formations

Yellow Giraffe
Unlocks Acacia Trees and Ice Plants

How to Get Puzzle Pieces in Hay Day

There are more ways to get puzzle pieces than you might expect! They're definitely hard to come by, as the game seems to be exceedingly stingy with them -- but if you keep busy, you're bound to start racking them up.

As a note, you do have to open the Sanctuary before you can start collecting puzzle pieces. You must have land touching the Sanctuary and you need to repair the book stand next to it to open it up. It costs 10,000 coins and 4 hours to repair the book stand.

Once you've opened your Sanctuary, here's how you get puzzle pieces to populated it with animals.

Derby Rewards

Occasionally puzzle pieces come up as derby rewards. If you haven't gotten involved in your neighborhood derby, it's about time. They can also be obtained by solo players at the derby.

Red Tool Boxes

These pop up around your farm from time to time, sometimes locked and sometimes unlocked. Either can have puzzle pieces. If you're set on getting the new Wildlife Sanctuary animals, you should be opening these when you have the chance.

Treasure Chests

These appear in the town lake every so often and sometimes require 5 diamonds to open. They do contain puzzle pieces on occasion, so keep an eye out.

Boat Rewards

As if you really needed more reasons to do boat shipments, now there's a chance of getting puzzle pieces as a reward. It's hard work, but it's worth it if you're trying to collect wild animals. Do note you can only get them from fulfilling your own boats' requests and not another player's.

Wheel of Fortune

As with every other item on the wheel, getting a puzzle piece here is a game of chance. But that's not so different from the other ways you get puzzle pieces, either.

There are some players claiming puzzle pieces can also be obtained via level thresholds now, but I can't back that up -- it's something to keep in mind, though.

The basic gist of gaining puzzle pieces seems to be "play the game normally, but also spend diamonds on chests sometimes". It's not easy to get them and it takes time to get a whole animal's 36 puzzle pieces, but it's the easy EXP from the animals in the long run that makes it worth the effort.

Hay Day 2017 Guide: How to Set up Farm Helpers to Produce Goods While You're Away https://www.gameskinny.com/v13ln/hay-day-2017-guide-how-to-set-up-farm-helpers-to-produce-goods-while-youre-away https://www.gameskinny.com/v13ln/hay-day-2017-guide-how-to-set-up-farm-helpers-to-produce-goods-while-youre-away Wed, 28 Dec 2016 12:16:32 -0500 Autumn Fish

Tired of checking your phone every time the eggs are ready to be collected? Thankfully, you won't be stuck with egg duty forever. Reaching farm level 33 unlocks the Farm Helpers -- an old couple named Rose and Ernest found living atop a cliff just to the East of your farm house.

After watching you build your farm up from level 1 to 33, Rose and Ernest finally decide they're sick of retirement and want something to do. Rose is willing to tend to the animals while Ernest is more than happy working the Dairy and Suger Mill.

Managing your Farm Helpers

  • They'll get to work as soon as you assign some tasks to them. In order to assign tasks, simply tap on their house, tap on Rose or Ernest, then choose the products you want them to produce and hit confirm. Note that the higher level you are, the more products you'll be able to queue.
  • Rose and Ernest are only equipped to carry through with the tasks you've given them. If they run out of crops or other such supplies needed for production, you're expected to grow or buy more so they can finish their job.
  • Keep an eye on their task progress through the Farm Helper menu at their house. Here you can view how close they are to finishing their tasks and whether or not there are any complications. In the second tab, you can view what they've got in storage. Note that whatever they collect goes into their own storage and doesn't effect your own, so you don't need to worry about Rose and Ernest taking up all your space.
  • The Farm Helper's storage is only as large as their queue, which gradually upgrades as you level up. The goods they produced remain in their storage even after their time has expired. You cannot transfer their goods to your storage, however, the items in their storage always get used or sold before yours.
  • Rose and Ernest's services are free for the first week. After that, you must pay them for their time in Diamonds. 15 Diamonds net you 3 days, 30 Diamonds get you another week, and 55 Diamonds gets you 2 weeks. To keep them both working, they must be paid individually. There is a 10% discount that pops up occasionally, though, so keep an eye out.
  • Rose tends to the animals on your farm. She feeds your Chickens, Pigs, Cows, Goats, and Sheep and collects their Eggs, Bacon, Milk, Goat Milk, and Wool when they're ready.
  • She makes her own animal feed, too. Because it's not the final product, Animal Feed made by Rose exists in the void and neither takes up your storage space nor hers.
  • You can customize Rose's behavior by tapping on the cog wheel. Use this to make sure she's only making feed and feeding animals when you request, continually making feed but feeding animals only when you request, or continually making feed and feeding them until the crops run out.
  • Ernest works at the Dairy and Sugar Mill. Provided he has the materials, he produces Brown Sugar, White Sugar, Syrup, Cream, Butter, Cheese, and Goat Cheese.

Hay Day Guide How to Set up Farm Helpers Rose and Ernest to Produce Goods While You're Away

Once you reach level 33, start utilizing the Farm Helpers right away to get a good feel for them during your free week. After you get a feel for their efficiency, it's up to you whether or not their services are worth the hefty price of Diamonds.

There are 40 different species of fish for Hay Day farmers to catch on a lazy afternoon. They’re caught using the lures and nets you can find in the Tackle Box. Players receive a specific number of experience for catching each type of fish. They can also check on the types of fish they have caught by looking in the fish book.

There are six unique fish you can catch during special fishing competitions. Fishermen can also go for the ultimate fish, called the Golden Trout.

Hay Day farmers can start fishing at level 27. Before this can happen, you need to repair the fishing boat. You’ll find it sitting on the shore, but will need to spend 39,000 coins to repair it.

After three days of waiting, your boat will be ready for fishing.

Head down river to fish
  • Farmers deciding to fish can head downriver to meet Angus. He’ll take you through the basics of fishing. After the tutorial is finished, Angus will provide you with three fishing lures and you can go fishing.

  • Gamers can visit the fishing hut by the river to check your uncle’s old fishing book. In it you’ll find a reward for each new type of fish you catch.

  • Players can create lures they can use to fish with, just by clicking on the Lure Workbench and selecting the type of lure they want to create.

  • After a long day fishing, you can come back to the farm, and create new and exciting products you can sell using the fish you catch.

Catching fish
  • There are several different fishing areas and spots Hay Day farmers can check out. Moving from fishing spot to fishing spot is a good way to catch rarer and more valuable fish.

  • To begin fishing from the boat, just tap and hold the lure, and drag it through the water. Move the bait slowly through the water to attract more fish. Once a fish bites the lure, a circle will appear and start to close. Keep the fish inside the circle by pulling the line in the direction opposite to the fish.

  • Farmers catching fish can collect a reward from the fishing scrapbook.

Opening new fishing spots
  • Opening up new fishing areas is as easy as opening slots on your Hay Day farm. You’ll need to obtain a certain number of land deeds, mallets and market stakes to open up each fishing area. You can determine the exact amount by clicking on unopened fishing areas.

  • The water will be covered by fog, but once you open up a new area it will become visible and you can start fishing.

  • Farmers may need to find expansion items to open up some fishing spots, but can find these necessary items by playing the game. You can also purchase the items using diamonds.

  • Farmers have a number of different fishing areas to explore and open up for fishing. Rocky areas, deep and shallow pools, and even reefs can be found out on the water. Take a look at the images of different Hay Day fishing spots here.

Once you reach 27 level, start fishing all the different spots available. This will provide you with things and bonuses you can use to make playing your favourite video game more fun and challenging.

In a future article, we'll talk about the 40 different kinds of fish you can catch playing Hay Day, and the different fishing areas you can try.

Good fishing!

The Hay Day Bakery is unlocked on level 1 and costs farmers 20 coins to buy. Farmers can produce nine different items in the Bakery.

The more hours you spend in baking products, increases the experience and coin bonuses achieved through car orders and reduces the amount of time required to make products. It generally takes about 560 plus hours of playing this video game to achieve Master Baker.

Below I talk about each of the nine different baked products Hay Day farmers can make in the Bakery.

The level the product is unlocked, items you need to make the product, and the different goods you can make using the product. Using this information gamers can increase farm production and the fun and enjoyment of playing this entertaining and challenging video game.

Hay Day farm buildings are permanent structures on your farm that you can build, but can’t move or destroy.

There are five farm buildings players can build on their property and each adds to the entertainment and challenge of playing this video game. Below we talk about each of the farm buildings in Hay Day.

The Event Board

The Event Board was first added to Hay Day as part of the video game’s first birthday celebration. It lists events (bonuses) lasting a specific time players can take part in to receive bonuses that make playing this video game more fun and challenging.

  • New events sometimes take a while to appear on the board, but the Event Board will change its appearance when it does.
  • Events will occasionally repeat.
  • Read the Event Board carefully
Different Hay Day events
  • The Truck Delivery event provides players with double the number of coins upon completion
  • The River Boat event provides Hay Day farmers with double the number of coins for each crate they finish
  • The Crop in Season event halves the time it takes for carrots to grow to maturity
  • The Visitor event means visitors pay twice the number of coins
  • The Newspaper Ad event provides a 6 minute cooldown period for free newspaper advertisements instead of 30 minutes
The Hay Day Farm House

The two-tiered white house with black roof is the Farm House. Farmers begin the game with this building in place and its only used to check progress towards finishing achievements and your Farm Score. You can start doing this after you reach level 6, by clicking on the Farm House.

Hay Day Neighborhoods

Neighborhoods is a farm building recently added to Hay Day. This structure is a damaged neighborhood building you can repair for 2500 coins once you reach level 29. It takes 24 hours to finish the repairs.

Once the repairs are finished you can join or create a neighborhood. Then you can talk to your neighbours in real time using the chat feature included with Hay Day.

The Hay Day Roadside Shop

The Roadside Shop is another structure on the farm at the start of the game. Once players reach level 7 they can begin selling goods they produce from this building.

  • Sell crops, animal products and items made in production buildings
  • Not able to sell lures, nets or decorations
  • Advertise items and goods for sale in Hay Day newspaper, Daily Dirt
  • Friends and followers can buy items you don’t advertise in the newspaper
  • Pay 5 diamonds for extra slot in Roadside Shop
The Hay Day Boat Dock

The Boat Dock is unlocked for play at level 17, but you’ll have to pay 16,000 coins to get it ready for business. Once repaired, boats will start docking, and you can begin filling shipping orders. All filled orders provide players with experience points, coins and a shipment voucher.

Use the five Farm Buildings we talk about above properly and you can turn your Hay Day farm into a business other farmers envy. These buildings are some of the most important structures on the farm and you need to understand their function and operation to play this game effectively.

Note: none of these tricks require players to download anything.

1. Look for unlocked treasure chests

This Hay Day cheat becomes less effective the more you use it, but the first couple of times it should work. You might need to try it as many as 20 times to find an unlocked treasure chest.

  • Find a tool box on a follower’s, helper’s or friend’s farm. If the box is closed, tap anywhere on the screen, except the x button.
  • Now go to another friend’s farm and find the same tool box. If the tool box is unlocked, you can take everything inside. You can find tools and other things you can use to keep your farming running smoothly. Once you go back to your farm you should find the tools you found in the tool box in available farming tools.
  • If the tool box is still locked? Keep doing the same process, until you find a tool box that’s unlocked. You can keep getting free stuff using this method, at least as long as it continues to work.

2. Trick your Hay Day friends, followers and helpers

This trick is great to use to convince your Hay Day farming friends, followers and helpers that you have just received double the amount of coins and experience for completing a boat order.

  • When the boat pulls into the dock and you receive an order. Click on the check mark and hold it down.
  • As you let go of the check mark, quickly click the x at the top of the page. The game will show you just received double the amount of coins and experience, but you won’t actually receive double bonus.

3. Determine items you’ll need in the future

You can determine items you’ll need in the future to complete shipments by letting the delivery boy give you hints using this helpful Hay Day tip.

  • Find the delivery boy, click on him.
  • Choose the “No Thanks” button.
  • The delivery boy will then go across the road and lie down in a field. Above his head you’ll see a bubble where images of things you’ll need to complete future shipments will appear.

4. Free diamonds on Hay Day

You can buy diamonds with real money in Hay Day. The more diamonds you buy the more value you get for your money. You can get dozens of diamonds for just a few dollars, but nobody really wants to spend money playing a free video game.

Diamonds are the main currency on Hay Day. Having more diamonds allows you to spruce up your farm and have more fun. Use these tips to get more free diamonds.

  • Hay Day farmers receive 1-3 diamonds every time they go up a level.
  • Players receive 1-3 diamonds for each Hay Day achievement they complete. There are  a total of 93.
  • Hay Day farmers will occasionally receive a free movie ticket to watch a trailer on an upcoming video game or even blockbuster Hollywood movie. Watching the show rewards farmers with a diamond.
  • Keep an eye out for big red mystery boxes on the farm. These are mystery boxes containing prizes, which could be diamonds. It will sometimes cost you a diamond to open one of these mystery boxes, but usually it’s worth the cost.
  • Occasionally players can find a diamond wrapped in a bow near the house, so keep your eyes open.

The Hay Day cheats, tricks and tips here usually work, but if the game designers have updated the game recently, it's possible they won't. Gamers tell me it hasn't worked for everyone trying it.

I hope you have a good day on the farm. Using the Hay Day tricks, tips and cheats I have provided, you can cut the amount of time it takes to keep your virtual farm profitable and working efficiently, and have more fun playing your favorite video game.

Getting more diamonds

Diamonds are the most valuable currency in Hay Day. There are ways to get more diamonds and even free diamonds.

  • If you synchronize Facebook with the game, you'll get diamonds everytime you go up a level. Players also get five diamonds for logging in using Hay Day, discovering a movie ticket and watching a trailer for another video game.

  • Once you reach level 24, start mining for diamonds. If you open the mine and blast using TNT, you’ll get diamonds every few explosions.

  • Watch for purple tickets that appear near the newspapers they deliver to the farm. By clicking these tickets, gamers can claim diamonds.

  • Players collecting all 78 achievements through the three levels are given a ribbon and diamonds upon completion of each level.

  • Players reaching level 27 should go fishing for diamonds. Look for the boat that needs repairing and fix it. Head out on the water and get 1-3 diamonds, depending on the size of fish you catch. Bronze fish get one diamond, silver get two, and gold get three diamonds.

Collect Gold
  • Farmers needing a little gold use this Hay Day video game tip, but beware - this trick will only work once. Head to the Road Shop; once there, buy a new slot and sell 5 pieces of wood. Once another farmer buys the wood, you’ll receive 500,000 gold.

  • Go through newspapers looking for items selling in bulk or bunches. Purchase items and then sell individually for a profit.

Gain Experience Points Fast
  • Once gamers reach level 15, picking apples from trees on the farm will give 7 experience points.

  • Look for advertisements in the paper about apple trees and visit the farms in question. Find shaking apple trees on these farms, click on the sign, and gain experience points.

Obtaining Items for Less
  • Aspiring farmers needing to save money on tools and equipment use this: Have a friend sell items for less in advertisements and then buy the goods. Resell the items for a profit. Just make sure you buy the items before someone else.

If you plan on starting a farm playing Hay Day, or already play this free online video game, using the Hay Day video game cheats and tips above will increase the resources available for play and the fun. It’s a great day to do a little farming.
